seems like all the beat character were wiped. my old character... sigh. well how come it said i received gold and my new character has nothing???

Because that is a closed beta situation. You must not have logged in for some time to be just getting that message now. That message was sent out around 3 weeks ago.
It was given to closed beta test the items cash shop, which will hopefully be back in soon. However it will cost real money this time instead of the given that you saw.
