Gathering things...

OK, I started two days ago (so I still qualify as a newb and can still post questions here without looking silly, :D *dances*) and have had to do a bunch of quests that require that I go out and find a certain item from a rock or herb. Needless to say, I did not get all of them on my first try... (I hate you, regular-quality copper ore!) So now, I want to ask, does that little bar affect what items you get? Does it really do anything at all?

I've tried clicking and hitting the spacebar when the green hits the little yellow line, and I've tried holding the mouse button down when it went over the line, but it doesn't seem to do much, except I sometimes got high quality copper ore when I held it. If there is some sort of secret to getting the items you want from gathering, please tell me, because I'm doing Karl's quest again, and would very much like to get 3 copper ore before I get 80+ low-quality and 10 high-quality ores this time. :)

That little bar is broken.
But when it did work, if you clicked on the yellow/orange-ish bar right as the green one hit it, it would automatically stop your gathering and give you the items. It's just a tool to shorten the harvesting time.

And getting tons of lq, and barely any mq is normal. The LQ is the most common out of all of the ore.

A handy thing to do is to make a Comp/Decomper, so you can make the LQ into MQ.

OK, thanks. I'm assuming this comper/decomper is an alchemy skill?

EDIT: I bought a comper, but when I tried to use it, it said that the selected production skill can't be learned. So I tried putting Material Composition in the empty 'selected' slot in my production skills, and it said that I cannot select the production skill in my current status. How do I obtain the 'correct' status? Or is this another broken feature? (By the way, the bar actually worked for me as far as getting the items faster goes. O_o)

I believe that you have to choose two production skills then click on the button at the bottom of the window that says confirm or something. After that you buy the skill and then right click it to learn it. BUT, maybe you bought the wrong skill? Maybe you bought the composition skill when you meant to buy the decomposition skill.

(Its been a LONG TIME since I set my production skills and I can't hop on right now to check, sorry. T_T Hopefully I've helped.)

I believe you recieve this message if you are in a mushroom house. I know you can learn skills while on a hobby or rider, but if you were inside a shroom thats why.
