It has been my observation that so many new players prefer the "go it alone" approach but that is not necessarily the best way to pay the game all of the time.
The most often reason given for rejecting party invites that I have seen is that new players believe that they are not getting as many experience points for mobs.
Where as that may in fact be true, in the long run you actually get a lot more exp when you are in a party because there are many making a contribution as opposed to 1 and there is less chance of getting killed and that starts to make a big difference after level 10 because you will start losing exp if you get killed.
Every character type has their strengths and weaknesses so a good party should be of different types of characters.
A Mage can cause incredible damage to mobs at a distance but they don't do so well in close combat.
Archers can inflict devastating bleeding damage and poison damage on mobs but again, not so good at close combat.
Fighters are the close combat masters and incredibly tough to damage due to their high strength and endurance.
And a Cleric is a very good thing to have on your team for close combat and for healing and to repetitiously cast party protection spells.
You will be very glad to have a Cleric on your team if you ever get hit with bleeding damage, disease or poison because they can keep you alive and even resurrect you in higher levels.
The Fighters and Clerics are strong but they have a major weakness which is they cannot attack from a distance which leaves them vulnerable to multiple simultaneous attack by aggressive mobs.
(It also means that they are prime targets for Ksing by Mages and Archers)
So my recommendation to new players or the anti-social is not to get hung up on the "go it alone" approach because it will eventually work against you in the long run.
Just my opinion.
