Ok, ive just installed the new framework thing, its 2.0 right? i typed my name and password on the launcher, on the bottom of the launcher it said "This operation is only supported on Windows 2000 SP3 or later operating systems."... i didnt know what it meant and i clicked login, but instead of loging in i got a pop-up saying:
"Unhandled exception has occerred in your application. If you click Continue, The application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
This operation is only supported on Windows 2000 SP3 or later operating systems."
Before this big framework update thing, Fiesta would run perfectly. If anyone, GM, CSL, somebody who knows what that means could please help me out here, id really appreciate it.

so u can't play unless u have it? sigh.. i wonder where the authorities are.. they're not so concerned about these probs? why does it have to specifically be win 2000 sp3 or higher? geez.. before this "server move" thing happened, all WAS fine.. seriously..

I think I may have figured this out, after much research at MS site. This message is specific to the Windows Installer application they are asking you to install. If you have WIN XP SP2, as I did, it comes w/the Windows Installer 3.0.
However, I am assuming the update, was processed using the higher version 3.1 Redistributable. This application is used primarily for administrators to verify a user's authenticity to login, or download an upgrade/update (dependent on the size and how critical it is to the original release.)
If you Click on the 'Details' section as I did and read through some of what is there, it is obvious that the 'authentication' is not happening, and therefore, is not recognizable by the server.
I D/L'd SP3 for XP last evening, and went to grab up the 3.1 version. However it cannot be applied to SP3 of XP, only the 4.5 version is then applicable. Read here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=889482fc-5f56-4a38-b838-de776fd4138c&DisplayLang=en Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable supports Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3 or later, Windows XP, Windows XP Service Pack 1, Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Server 2003. Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 contains Windows Installer 3.1 and therefore can't be installed or upgraded by this redistributable.
There are many problems with this program, as Microsoft has acknowledged; something with a conflict of differing files and their extensions (conflicts between msi and mof, mof won't allow msi to be overwritten for the 3.1 Installer.)
As many of you know, a higher application can read a lower version, but a lower version cannot decipher the higher; ergo the problem. WIN 2000 SP3 has the Installer 3.1 'Redistributed' version and most of us are stuck w/ the 3.0 and the mof n msi pages that cannot read the 3.1. The Dev's may be interested in this little tid bit from MS: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/thankyou.aspx?familyId=ad7ac91e-2493-4549-ae6f-bf5e007c12a3&displayLang=enThis document is targeted at installation developers or Setup authors responsible for the design, creation, and management of Windows Installer patches (.msp files). Familiarity with the basic principles of the Windows Installer and Windows Installer patches is assumed. Microsoft Windows (October 28, 2004, **see pgs 7-10 also)
I was going to D/L v 4.5, however, with my version of XP SP3 I cannot find out if its 32bit or 64, it does not state it anywhere in file, we have the 'Home' version, not 'Professional', so I guess we don't rate any explaination of what bit we are running in. However I did attempt to D/L the application, but upon execution, it stated (even though Microsoft recommends this for XP SP3 now) it was the wrong version for my OS. Hmmm... got me. I'll read on to see whasup; but I think as before, there is a conflict with the msi.dll and mof pages currently loaded on many of our versions of this Windows Installer.

Nice explanation Shera but im am still unsure on what to download as i have heard lots of bad things when people download Windows XP Home Ed SP3.
Though in Add & Remove Programs i have windows Installer 3.1
Though i have Windows XP Home Ed SP2 i still get this msg....it would be sad after so much work and reformatting my comp simply to be stopped by a problem made by a service pack :(

That's because Windows Installer 3.1 is not compatible w/WIN XP SP3, you need to get the 4.5 for SP3. However it still isn't working for me either. I have posted links and the statements made by Microsoft concerning the instabilility of 3.1 and subsequent conflicts w/ the msi.dll and mof pages. Mof will not allow an overwrite to the msi.dll to update.
No one has addressed this issue as of yet.

I'm running xp pro with sp2 couldn't connect until i download the .NET and installed the launcher patch to the correct directory it defaults to C: and my fiesta is on D: so I just changed that and was able to log in without problem. I also freshly formatted and reinstalled windows about a month ago so I know i don't have all the updates.. and there is a SP1 for the .NET software so i suggest uninstall the game completely delete the fiesta folder if it reminds then go to windows update and download and install all of those updates make sure you have sp1 for the .NET restart the computer re download fiesta and manual launcher patch if you still can't connect to fiesta then there is a network problem in windows which mean format and reload most likely or the part of the server your info is save is still down and you'll just have to wait for them to figure something out

Alrighty, I'm not that much of a computer wiz (Unless it involves taking them apart and building a Frankenstein's monster out of it), but this post by a fellow CL may shed some light on this.
First off, .net frameworks are independent of each other. That means that version 3.0 is NOT the same as version 2.0. You need to install version 2.0 ONLY. It can be found here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
These are the supported Operating Systems. You will also need the following software, and see below for those with 64bit versions of windows.
Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000 Service Pack 3; Windows 98; Windows 98 Second Edition; Windows ME; Windows Server 2003; Windows XP Service Pack 2
These are some software requirements as well, which you should have if you use windows automatic updates, but you may not, so here they are:
Required Software:
Windows Installer 3.0 (except for Windows 98/ME, which require Windows Installer 2.0 or later). Windows Installer 3.1 or later is recommended.
IE 5.01 or later: You must also be running Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or later for all installations of the .NET Framework.
Furthermore this is for X86 architecture. If you are running a 64 bit version of windows, you will need this version: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Secondly, you need to install it BEFORE you can update the game. After you install it, if you still have problems updating there is a manual patch found here: http://www.outspark.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105291
If you still can't connect due to an issue explained here: http://www.outspark.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105726 Then what you need to do is a complete uninstall and then reinstall the game from a fresh copy. -Originally Posted by Shahared

I do not know about the others but as far as I can tell there is *NO* SP3 pack for the 64 bit systems that use windows 2000 >.< If someone has found one please let me know this is beyond frustrating since I know my system is well above the requirements to play the game.....

I went to properties then Compatibility. Where it says Compatibility Mode, uncheck the box that says (Run this program in compatibility mode for) Since the list only goes up to windows 2000. Its why you get that error message. I've been able to go on now and play without a problem.
