game wont save bug

Whenever I quit the game and come back later, my characters back on level 3. It's like the game won't save for me or something.
Plus, I'm really sick of going back to level 3.

(maybe I'm just doing something wrong because I'm new but from all the guides I looked up, it never said anything about this. >_>)

I'm pretty sure it's when I started a quest or something.
(it seems a bit random. Before I started the quest it would start me to the very begining)
