How do I level my skills... I saw some books that were level two... and stuff... wow, I'm so lost. Anyone care to help an acolyte out?

u have to wait till the lvl required in each skill, if you click the book with the right button u'll see the lvl required, when you reach that level you will be able to learn the skill or to improve the skill you had before.
If you wanna improve your weapons (+2,+3 if it is what you mean) there's only one way to do it. You have to have a xen stone, go to the blacksmith and enhance you wearpon, if the xen succes, you will have a +2 weapon instead of +1, or +1 instead of +0 (doesnt show). but the xen can fail
Also you can find some +2 gears in the mines, and your gears would be stronger if they have Aditional Points in their description (APs). all gears can have 2,4 or 6 aditional points (in addition to +1,+2....) except shields that can only have 1,2 or 3 aditional points.
