mmmh if this is a call for sympathy you aint getting it from me. We all choose our path in life and are responsible for our own choices. I dont understand the *godlike* attitude towards GM's, GL's etc and find it highly amusing. After witnessing events etc where GM's and GL's are involved and how they deal with the player base it is obvious they are not *gods*. Just like the rest of us they have temper tantrums and are not always diplomatic in their responses etc.

*raises eyebrow* on several threads I see you post, never appearing to have a sense of humour. why constantly poke at the people that are working hard to improve the quality of this game/community. All the staff from the GM's to the CL's put a ton of extra time into this. Why can't we all just embrace the fact that this game has visable staff, as many online games like this do not.

You obviously dont read enough of my posts :P I am the first to give the GM's and GL's a pat on the back. On many threads I have commented that the thing I love most about this game is the fact they are so visible. My comment was more *tongue in cheek* at the look on the kittens face, he looked so pained. Each time I see a GM or GL ingame they are being inundated with stupid questions and or being bashed for ignoring people. When I saw the look on the kittens face I envisioned them staring at the skies thinking to themselves WHY ME.

I am happy to read your explanation, as the reading of your original comment really did not register to me as 'tongue in cheek' at all, and I was finding your comment on what is clearly a humor post a bit harsh :)
But clearly I do agree with your essential points, that GM and GL are human like all of us and they do have the same issues in real life like everyone of us.
Like us, they can have a bad day and unlike some of us [me for instance] they have to keep smiling and helping their customer base [while I can sulk alone in my cubicule doing my work].
For that they deserve my kudos, as I am not certain I would do as good a job.
And I love the kitty's face :)

Dude... that picture is so..
I hope thats not a goo analogy of the GMs, cus I have a cat that was in that situation, and shes marred for life. People who come over basically dont know she exists because shes so terrified of people. Things like that really mess up the mind.
And as for the stupid questions, I find these annoying.
One of my most prized memories of a GM encounter, was the War the GM against Dakkon.
After all was said and done, a few straggling peopel kept attacking him. Me and a few good players just spam healed him out of annoyance, while they kept yelling "stop healing him!". The event is over. Stop attacking.
Anyway, they were spamming him to drop chests, do stuff, stupid questions.
So I got annoyed. I figured the poor guy would probably appreciate an HONEST question.
So I asked.
"GM Dakkon... Whats your sword called?" (This was back before the big blue boom. So literally.. Id never even seen a 2h blue before, heard of em, even thought of em).
"My sword is called Prince Charles" I believe was his response. Lol ^^ Then he told me about a minute later it was called the Claw of Casha.
And I cant help but thinnk.. At leas thope.. they appreciate the HONEST questions players ask them. I didnt ask something stupid. I asked something reasonable, didnt make me any more or less than another player, and it was just out of curiosity.
It infuriates me when I hear someone "DROP CHESTS DROP DORP DOPR DPOPRODPORPDOPRODRD". and I ROFL when they drop blank chests.

Lol, only on the Outspark forums can a humorous post poking fun about how the GMs feel in-game be turned into an intellectual argument.

Well what do you expect?
Lol half the people right now that are on the forums ar eon because their Fiesta either isnt working, wont let them in, or is lagging so badly they cant play.
I would say half of the remaining half are actually at work, school, or at some place where Fiesta is unavailable.
The remaining Fourth are actually players who check here regularly.
So with the influx of people.. we get bored :D
I must say tho that AFTER I replied I saw that it was GL Nei who started this thread >.> Whups lol.

We should always try to be diplomatic with responses, that is for certain. However, I don't think this was what Nei was going for here.
It seems, whenever a GM or GL enters the game there are those who will beg.. yes, beg. For money, items, riders, enhancements.... you can only say "no" so many times before sending someone to jail.
During events, GMs have had to nearly cancel due to the influx of whispers they receive... all begging for the same things.
So, you see, respect is a two-way street here. The GMs and GLs respect the players in the games as we CLs respect the users on these forums, but when that respect is cast aside (along with several warnings) then certain actions must be taken to ensure the experience is pleasurable for the many, not just the few. And, sometimes, diplomacy must step aside for duty.

I'm very much human. The ones who consider themselves godlike would be the ones on a power trip. I have managed to embarrass myself, get into trouble, and so forth and so on.
To help clarify the original post, it was more of a humorous poke at our own experiences while running around in-game. It was not the intention to seek pity or sympathy from anyone.
Our experiences are not all like that mind you. We have our share of good experiences and bad experiences. I have my moments where I'm certain there is nothing I can say or do to make a player happy. And there are others who are just bursting with excitement when I stand by them for a picture. Each encounter brings a different response.
I'll be the first to speak and say that I've made my fair share of mistakes, who hasn't. It's how we learn from those mistakes and apply it to the next encounters that makes or breaks us on who we are.
There will be times I will sit with the public and answer the same question 20+ times (ie - what does "GL" mean) and there are times when I am dealing with situations and problems that I will not be able to answer/respond to whispers right away due to the immediate situations I'm involved in.
I've had players hate me because I don't respond to them immediately, like I have nothing better to do at that moment. I've had players hate me because I won't enhance their stuff or give them money.
Have patience with us and know that if I miss responding to you or don't get back to you right away, it may be because I either missed such or am busy dealing with situation.
All I ask is people look at it in the other side of things. We can't make everyone like or accept us, that's just a fact of life. What we try to do however is make each experience a good one if possible. We love you guys, despite how it may seem.

I really can't disagree with too much of that (or any)
But I think that Nei is different, I believe that he really a nice guy and not on any kind of an ego trip.
Personally I don't treat any Outspark staff or volunteers like celebrities and certainly not like "Game Gods" even though potentially they could simply push a button and delete everything that I have worked for in the game thus far. ^^
They are just people like anyone else but Nei appears to be one of the few that are actually aware of that. LOL
I know I certainly wouldn't take the job that he does for the perks alone, they would have to pay me a lot of money to keep a watch on and deal fairly with all of the degenerate players in the game.
I have relatively low tolerance for ignorance and stupidity and I know that would be more than I would be willing to deal with.

I ENJOY it when the GM/GL rebuke the annoying players.
I thoroughly enjoy it.
I mean, theres nothing more funny than someone begging the GM for somerthing, then getting mad that they were "ignored", and shouting something really bad at the GM. Byebye nooblette. xD

Awwww it's such a cute kitty, I want to pet it and hug it and squeeze it to death lol! Until I realized as a child during big family reunions I had unfamiliar relatives used to pet me on the head and say how cute I was, I did not quite enjoy that feeling because it was unwanted attention. I assuming that is pretty much how GL Nei summons his typical experience in the public, a lot of unwanted attention. I recently have received a lot of spammy questions which is not something I am used to but I figure I might as well educate new comers to Fiesta on how the game works and tell them there is nothing wrong with asking a question and do not feel bad, everyone feels frustrated when learning a new game system. We are all newbies at the very beginning :P. But if someone requests something I do not want to give, thankfully I can and will say the word "no" or just "block" if they are being too persistent.
Off the topic I recall my first experience with GL Nei in Goblin camp when I was in my level 30's leveling my goblin mage license. First thing I noticed about Nei is his pretty flower stick (Teva mace) and I thought to myself, wow a high level player and a funny GL title? What's a GL?? Guild leader??? (Good thing I was polite enough not to be rude and ask him what's a GL? I just asked my friends online what a GL means ^^). GL Nei was very patient with me as I asked him to tell me what he think of my magical girl transformation initiation dance into a guild. *30 secs later after my dance and song routine* GL Nei had a good laugh and though it was funny, which I was going for ^^. It made my day since a high level was patient enough to watch my dance routine, as well as whack the occasional goblin aggro lol. Thank you Nei!

K I make no apologies that people dont understand my sense of humour but it does sadden me :( Nei clearly said in the topic title [HUMOUR]. It also saddens me that people chose to not read past my first post to the explanation of why I posted what I did.
The visibity of GM's, GL's etc on this game are its most precious feature. Never before have I played a game where this has happened. Usually a GM is some mysterious person who lurks in the neverland of the game and is never seen, only heard of when something nasty happens.
My response was made with a very clear memory of a recent BlackCat war in Elderine. I was on an alt and chat was full of meanness mainly towards GM Asp, players were accusing him of not backing up Nei. I remember at the time thinking to myself WHY do they continually get hassled by petty people who cant understand that their visibility in the game is one of its best features.
Lecturing me on their value to the game without reading my second post clarifying why I posted what I did is a little harsh.
