Yes you can do all those things mentioned. In order to mine you'll need the skill + the pick from the merchant.

As far as cutting trees and foraging herbs/flowers/etc, you can do that without any skill needed. You will need to find a bush, mushroom, tree, etc and if it shows a red name above it, you can click on it and begin to forage for something from it. It will vary on what you receive afterwards.

u can.. u hav to select the production skill first.. then u go to the skill master buy the mining skill for 250c and the pick in the item merchant and ur done :)
