I keep haveing trouble entering my home, sometimes it works and other times it does'nt.

That is probably because you are too close to an NPC while you try to enter (sign, shopkeeper, etc). To make sure, if your house doesn't open then check the yellow text at the bottom right of the screen, that should say what the problem is.
