I'm with you but I just want to say it is not just the spammers that you should be p****d at, it's also the buyers, if it was not for the buyers then there would not be the market for the sellers and we would not be getting spammed.
Today it was so bad I actually quit the game and went to play 9 dragons and not 1 piece of spam did I get from gold sellers there. I wonder what they have done to banish it from the game.

The real problem is that the GM's aren't prominent enough to keep the gold spammers down. If there were more GM's or even Player GM's (with restricted powers) to ban these spammers they the spammers would see that it's not worth creating account after account just to make the tiny bit of money that they might be making.

Is it so easy to start law suits that anyone and everyone would do so at their leisure over something as trivial as a free online game? The cost involved into setting up, maintaining and developing a game like Fiesta is not cheap, especially since at this stage, they have had no profit returns. Compromise, not stupidity is used to deal with situations like this.

stick the sites in the profanity filter to change to spam. if it says www, make it bleep out the rest.

You own a news paper and someone runs an advert in it you charge them for it, you own a tv station someone runs an advert in it you charge them for it, you own a web site and someone runs an advert in that you charge them for it. you own a free to play game someone runs an advert in it and they get it for free, there is something wrong here. A spam message from a gold seller saying buy gold from such and such company is an advert, each piece of spam is a separate advert, so you charge the spam company for every piece of spam advertisement they do.
Lets say you charge them 1,000 USD for each one, (you don't want to make it too cheap) now yesterday there was a spammer online that was spamming the chat every 5 seconds, (not going to give them free advertisement here but we all know who it was) so that's 12 adverts every minute at 1000 USD each, so that 12 x 1000 = 12,000 USD per minute, 60 minutes in an hour, so 60 x 12,000 = 720,000 USD per hour, 24 hours in a single day so 24 x 720,000 = 17,280,000 USD per day in advertisement costs. Now before you start you send them an official letter telling them that this is your going rate, you will be starting the charging from such and such date. You put an entry into the TOS that everyone has to sign before they play the game agreeing to it, then if they do spam you send them a bill, if they don't pay the bill then your legal recourse is open for you, as I bet every country that these company's are in, they have to pay there bills. If they have to pay for there advertisements, they will soon stop or at worse cut down.
Also it does not have to be outspark this effects all the games online, they should all be getting together and sorting this problem out, rather than sitting back and saying I'll leave it up to them.

How about a level requirement of 20 in order to shout. I know this will make it harder on the lower level's who may have questions but at the moment i miss most questions with the spam anyway.

This will certainly lower the amount of goldspammers if they have to get a char to level 20 every time they want to spam.

One answer is an ignore function...something that has been asked for since CB1...and spam filter, they already have a chat filter, just add www.*.com to it, when they work around it, and they will, add that to filter.

If outspark expects to get OUR hard earned money, then they need to step up the efforts. A gm coming on and kicking these spammers for a couple hours, sometimes its not even that long, is not enough. Maybe if money wasnt so hard to come by in the game...?

It has gotten so bad, people cant even chat in game anymore.

I, for one, feel that if this problem isnt taken care of soon I will be leaving this game for 9Dragons or going back to playing LC.

Yea, its annoying for sure. The spam in /s is so bad from them, every 1 second 2 lines of adds per bot and I can't keep up with the chat to help new players when they ask things. Its gotten so annoying I don't even sit in town late at night to help new players anymore. The GM's ban them, and they come right back with new accounts so Outspark is taking action, don't overlook that please. I say we give Outspark some time to come up with a better solution than they currently have with just banning them. I believe they will soon and maybe they could give us an ignore function in the meantime until they have a better solution.

Simply re-make a character every 24 hours with a different name can get around that.

And I'm sure farmers could re-do their spam messages similar to the original site, some gold farming sites also spam Hotmail addresses too, not just links.

Actually , I was watching the farmers for 3 hours straight while I was grinding , and they typed chinese text , =)

Why? Simple, every post you've made in this thread shows words without anything thought or backing. You saw them post Chinese? And you must be Chinese because you can read their language. Also the farmers were there for 3 hrs, and you were there for 3 hours doing the same thing as they are, does that not make you like them? Maybe they were grinding for 3 hours also, because only mobs drop anything, to farm anything you are technically 'grinding' also.

As well as they were typing texts, regardless of language, it shows that they were real people behind the keyboard, not a programmed bot. Is it an offense to grind and type in another language?

Well, GM's don't actually have to filter out www. they can just filter out the actual site name, the farmers can't get around that becuase even if they figured out some odd way of saying it I'm sure they would relise it's not the exact URL and therefore not valid. For example, filter out "goldforcheap" all in the same sequence with no spaces like that and viola! now you can still say "Gold for cheap" but not "www.goldforcheap.com" it would be "www.*****.com"

Ignore function, that would work if it were like some sort of IP ignore, I don't know if that is possible but it would be like an IP ban. The best thing they could do is impliment a spam filter, so that you can't say the same thing more the once every 5 seconds. There are plenty of solutions.

But i feel that those chinese farmers doesn't affect you as they are just too free to play.
If you don't buy the golds, it doesn't affect you in any way.
At most you will see them playing for long hours and their levels/golds shoot up fast.
Although what IXeroI said is kinda true, just ignore them, play the game, feel the excitement. That is more important. =)

ok I agree, I made the statement of Chinese Farmers. BUT what I DO KNOW is that 2 of the sites ARE from china, more specifically, one is in hong kong.

How do I know this? you ask, Well ascII posted up some info awhile back on one of the companies. On the second, I emailed one, asking them to get their spammers out of the game. I know it was like throwing spit balls at a Brick wall in hopes of knocking it down, but I had to at least see what they would say. Anyways, by the broken english, and the information in the Email I recieved back, after careful scans. It came from somewhere in China.

The problem with just IP banning, it can be worked around.
Filters, as many have shown, there is always a way to Bypass a Filter.
Ignore functions, again, that was already said, its easy to work around.
now the idea about having to reach lvl 20 to shout, now that is a pretty good idea. Here is the problem though. All they would do is spam normal chat. After that, they would move to whispering.
Then the new players would be forced to play without any type of chat in town. Which is where most of them look for information.

Other ideas could be, to make the character creation process a bit harder.

Make them add name, email address, and all sorts of information. Then if that person gets banned. When they try to make a new account that uses the Full name they used, Email address they used, Phone number they used, or the address of where they lived, the account Name. If they try to reinput any specific type information, the game would prevent them from playing.
can they get around this? yes, for awhile, but after enough bans, it would become harder and harder.

Another Idea, not sure how hard this would be or possible at all. I know on games sites like Big Fish, you can play a game for a short while, then after an hour, it kicks you out. And you cant play the game again til you pay for it. Even you delete it and redownload it again.
Now my idea would be something like, if you get banned, it sends a Message to your PC, that your account is banned, and that your computer is no longer able to play the game, even if you make a new account. Not sure if this idea would work, or if its even possible at all, but if it is, then that would cause them alot of problems.


My last idea, and this idea is NOT to be used unless you and the Developers have already agreed to it. So DONT do this unless the developers say its ok.
You go to their site and Pay for some silver or what ever. Yes it money out of pocket, and you probably wont see it again. The team Tracks the account your services are for. IF or WHEN they make the transaction, the team tracks that second account that gave you the money, and they track any interaction with other players they have. This would be a 2 fold banning process.

First they could find all the accounts that are pushing money to this Main account that is holding the money. And find all the players who are paying for the money. Then they can do a Massive BAN on all these accounts in one major Swoop. Kinda like a Major Sting Operation.

Like I said, that last idea is not an idea to be trifled with. Even IF the Developers agree to it, you take a HUGE risk with your money and your PC. Because as Kaalan said, them sites have Keyloggers. So you could be opening yourself up for alot of problems.
