What makes you think the prementioned didn't lie?

Not sure what you mean by "Super Drops", but I'm going to assume you mean Greens and Blues.
Greens and Blues are items with either a green or blue title to them. Mostly referring to Armour and Weapons.
Both of these types of items are random drops you can get from monsters. Blues are extremely rare to get.
Both have stats added to the item, and sometimes their base stats (Such as Damage,aim, Crit%) are increased. Since the stats are randomly generated there is always a chance of getting a Green or a Blue with horrible stats.
Green items can have anywhere between 1-3 different stats on them. Such as Str +13, End+5, Dex+10, etc. While blues sometimes have 4 or more.
There are also Greens that you can only get from certain boss monsters, such as the dungeon bosses. If you go into Marlones Hideout, or Graveyard of the Dead, or an area such as that, and kill the bosses that spawn there is a chance that the monster will drop a green weapon exclusive to them.
Jewelry on the other hand is a bit different. You'll come across Rings, Necklaces and Earrings that may have Green or Blue titles, but this doesn't necessarily mean they are rare. Such as a Mini Dragon ring, which has a blue title, but it's very easy to obtain from the KQ.
Rare Jewelry are items such as the Roumen/Elderine series. Heavenly Necklace of Roumen, Legendary Necklace of Elderine, Brave Roumen/Elderine Ring, Shining Roumen/Elderine ring, are all extremely rare pieces of jewelry.
