im going to be a fighter and i want to know if i should have a 1 hand sword or a 2 hand sword? i dont want the 2 hand axe because it is to slow. so which one is better? 1 hand sword or 2 hand sword? thanks

No seriously, mostly its best to max your build really. If your stats are based on high def and hp, take the one-handed. If you got loads of strength and damage, take the two-handed.
Off course you could use both, depending on the monsters you fight and/or the party your in. You could switch.

If you're going to go full STR or 25 SPR rest str, be a DD and use an axe, or a godly statted 2h.
If you're going full END, use a 1h and shield and be a tanker.
