View Full Version : Computer upgraded....still having trouble

Ok, so I spent about $150 on my computer to upgrade the RAM (over 1 gig now) and I still have screwey graphics (mostly one color across the whole screen, large blocks of random color that jut out at odd angles, no players or background able to be seen). I think it may be from updating my graphics card (which is odd because that was suggested by a CL); is there a way to downgrade the card to what it was before the upgrade so I can check?
Basically this is my last hope of playing this game again -after this all I can do is buy a new computer (which would not be sensible, as I would then be paying $700 to play a free game).
(yes, I posted this in another forum. It's the weekend so I am not anticipating much assistance in the troubleshooting forum).

Key word.... GRAPHICS... You need a better graphics card. So I would think, just buy a new one.

1) the graphics got worse when I ran other programs, so it was suggested to upgrade RAM
2) The graphics were fine before I updated the video card software (though I did that during the server move, so the video card upgrade may or may not have been the problem)
3) A new video card is 1/3 the price of a new computer.....no point in buying a newer version if I could save up a few months more and get a new computer.
4) no one has answered my question of can I downgrade the video card driver in the same manner I upgraded them (through the support link) to see if the problem was a fault in the update or if there is a greater problem....but thanks for trying to make me sound like an idiot (GRAPHICS...you need a GRAPHIC card not RAM...)....though if you were not, I apologize -I am a bit irritable at the moment

I'm not a huge tech guy but I think RAM just would make it so you run with less lag.
And try going to your graphics card's website and see if you can chose and older version.
And no I wasn't tryin to make you sound stupid or an idiot or anything. But don't worry. I can handle things. I understand you're just a little peeved right now.

As suggested by others, the best thing you can do is email support@outspark.com. RAM serves only to lessen lag, as for your graphics problem.. buying a new vid card would help, but then again if you're claiming that things used to be good before the new movement.. the best thing you can do is email support and ask them questions, cause I doubt CL's or GM's could help you on this division. Sorry.

So from what I understand is you updated your graphic driver right? Did the graphics get worse right after that? And that's why you got the new RAM, right? But you are still having problems with the graphics? Did I follow all of that correctly? If I did then I would contact whatever company does your card.

I know I should email tech support on this (and I will); but I was hoping someone might have an idea since it is the weekend.
Oh, and here's the basic sequence of events for my problems:
Event: Downloaded Fiesta (Nov. last year)
--Result: made freinds, had fun. Lagged a bit in heavilly populated maps or overcrowded areas, but still playable
Event: Server move
--Result: Large off-color boxes in all maps, including over objects like flowers and herbs as well as characters, large black boxes over player names and visible texts from players talking. Graphics looked like something from the NES
---Suggestions from CLs and players: uninstall/reinstall Fiesta, update RAM, update video card, buy new video card, buy new computer
----Attempted uninstall/reinstall, no effect.
Event: Patch
--Result: could not log on to Fiesta
---Player/ CL suggestions: manual patch, uninstall/reinstall Fiesta, buy new computer
----Patch used, logged in, graphics unchanged
Event: Omega Patch (called so because it was the end of many players)
-Co-event: updated video card (during the down time of Omega Patch)
--Result: upon logging into Fiesta, screen turned black, shadow colors of some items (dragon, cat) could be seen. Sometimes the server boxes would appear -but all the names were missing. If access to a server was possible, the graphics in-game were the same as the graphics in the log-in screens. If running a screenshot program, graphics would usually become worse.
---Suggestions from players and CLs: Uninstall/reinstall, increase RAM, buy new video card, buy new computer
----Attepmted: uninstall reinstall (no effect), increase RAM (no effect)
That's pretty much the sequence of how things have gone so far. As I said, I'll email support later, but I was hoping someone might have an idea (that did not involve me buying another computer).
Edit, Umm, Mystra.....why does your siggy say you eat dead kids with cheese?

To roll back your driver (Basically just use the last one you had) Do the following:
Right click my computer select properties select the hardware tab go to device manager expand Display Adapters then look for your graphics card listed there Right click on it, go to properties, select the Driver tab and then click on "Roll Back Driver"
Tada.

Thanks again, Viiney, but I am not on Vista, so I don't have a "hardware" tab in my computer properties, only a "general" and "shortcut" tab -neither of which has the option to look at hardware
Edit: nevermind....it's in the regular my computer section, not the shortcut (as I said last time...I know crud about computers)

You are on vista or you aren't?
I'm on Windows XP, so if you're not on vista as you say in the above post there should be no problem.
What tabs do you have in the properties section?

I found it -I clicked on the shortcut first so I didn't get the tab (initially I thought maybe I didn't see it because you were on Vista); I found it when I clicked on the my computer section in the start menu.
I did the rollback, now I am doing an uninstall/deletion/reinstall of all Fiesta files before trying to log on again (hope this works).
Thanks for the help again

Just Use System Restore to a few days back, when ur Graphics were fine.

That only works if you have something recent to restore your system to. My comp wen through problems once and I had to reboot everything (completely) cause there was no system restore.

It doesn't say that I eat dead kids with cheese. It says that I like kids and they taste good with cheese.
Hope you get this resolved.

Ich - I
Essen - eat
toten - dead
kinder - kids (kindergarten, children garden)
Sie - You, they, she
schmechen - taste
mit - with
kase - cheese
brot - bread
gut - good
( I didn't conjugate any of them I know)
....I may be translating too literally...but the message I get is that you eat dead kids with cheese....and you think it tastes good
Edit: I just reinstalled after the rollback. I can see the server list now (back to the screwey blocky NES-style graphics). But at least I can log in and tell my friends what's going on. Thanks for the help.

I actually had my graphics problem solved. It appears it was not computer related at all, rather game related (so buying RAM and upgrading my vid card were not needed in the least, though the RAM may be useful later). All I needed to do was go into the graphics setting in-game and click the "anti-aliasing" option, then the graphics reverted to normal and all the strange black boxes over text and player names vanished. (I know crud about computers, so while this may be obvious to some, I had no idea what the heck the options in that menu did).
So if anyone else who knows nothing about computers is having these problems -ie, black boxes over player names and texts, blocky graphics for skills or refined items, blocks over harvestable items like herbs, this may be a solution for you as well.
