I know how everyone enjoys these posts, because when I used to play a while ago, I loved them too :). So, I'm playing again and I'm making a mage as my main, and hopefully only, character...because having more then one focus while playing this game, makes it really hard to reach high levels, which is what I want to do.
So, my point, I'm making a mage(here comes the best part) and I want to know what the best build is. Since I played before, I know end is, in most opinions, completely useless with mages, and i think that as well, so, don't bother trying to persuade me into adding end...same goes for str. But, I want my mage to be powerful(like everyone else wants). So, I don't know what to go with, full int, or a build alternating between int and wis, because we need the mana, but more power means less skills being used to kill the mob. So, full int, or a alternating int:wis build. OH, and another thing...for some reason, when I last played, I didn't make too many friends, hopefully it'll be different this time, but, I don't want to have a build that renders soloing impossible.
I always make these threads too confusing. sorry

Full INT is a very good build, but better yet is 25 SPR the rest INT. Gives you bonus 5% crit (!!!) and extra sp (not that much)........and the 25 more INT that other mages have will make them do slightly more damage, but not much more because SPR gives you m. defence, and with your extra critical %.........you get where I'm going with this ^^

i dont think that end is useless i once were full 25 spr and rest int but then i reset them to 25 end and rest int
ive beeen able to own those fighters that owned me before end isnt that bad if u got end gear too of c.
gear+end in stats = high dmg^def perfect to own agressive pvp fighters

END is good on armor, but the extra 125 HP from 25 END? Definetely doesn't help at higher levels -.-

SPR is fine for the critical especially in PvP, but if you say you want to level fast, I recommend no SPR at all then, just full INT.
The reason is the critical bonus only means more total damage per second far far into the game, when you are dealing over 500 damage to the enemies per regular hit. The last time I saw a post on the forums dealing with SPR vs. INT with NPC weapons the level where 25SPR/Rest INT surpassed Full INT was I think 67.
The point is that somewhere in the 60s is where the Critical bonus actually begins to become better, but you will have to have struggled through 60 levels with 30 less damage per hit  that ignore MDEF, for less than profitable returns from your critical bonus.
OK so here's the thing at level 60 you get nova anyways...and after that point INT or INT/SPR really doesn't matter because the monsters are going down...and FAST. That is until you reach level 80.
The monsters in Burning Rock and Flaming Mine have super high Def and Mdef, and well at level 89 with a +9 Blue Wand I can only deal maybe 220 damage per hit to monsters my level. That indicates that once again the critical bonus gained from SPR is no longer doing the work of the guaranteed 30 damage that you would have had from the INT bonus.
So in conclusion, INT/SPR is faster killing mobs between levels 60 and 80, and Full INT is better every other level :D. My advice for faster leveling is to choose Full INT.

I will elaborate and omit portions of the preceding post that are correct.
In essence, correct. However, the damage requirement on average must exceed 600 in order for the INT/25 SPR hybrid build to be more efficient than a pure INT build. The graph that everyone loves to cite on these forums is incorrect: it assumes your damage will increase linearly, like a Fighter, but it does not. It plateaus and in some scenarios, decreases. Mages who have been in Burning Rock extensively can testify to this.
The point is that somewhere in the 60s is where the Critical bonus actually begins to become better, but you will have to have struggled through 60 levels with 30 less damage per hit  that ignore MDEF, for less than profitable returns from your critical bonus.
True only if you hit 600+ in the 60s.
So in conclusion, INT/SPR is faster killing mobs between levels 60 and 80, and Full INT is better every other level :D. My advice for faster leveling is to choose Full INT.
Again, dependent on damage. But few mages can do 600+ damage a hit at level 80 on mobs their own level, so full INT defeats INT:25 SPR. Keep in mind that the 5% bonus is in no way shape or form a guaranteed 5% bonus—it depends on your luck. It appears that people prefer this build over the 30 damage bonus of pure INT. However, it is your opinion and your play style that matters. Pick what feels right.
I will duly note that 600+ damage is possible with charms and fully powered Magic Blast and Fire Ball. However, all other level 1 spells will do considerably less.

Why does this topic keep getting made. There is no "best" build. It is all a completel matter of opinion. Personally I'm a mix of INT/SPR/END. But I also do a lot of solo'ing in abyss so I kind of need that END so I'm not gettin pwnd every 10 secconds.
