once the game was starting up i Alt+tabed, causing the game to reset my Resolution from 1440x900 to 1024x768. the game then proceded to not display the bottom of the screen. in other words the copyright was un-viewable.

You could just play it windowed mode in either of the resolutions while your desktop resolution remains at 1440x900, so that it doesn't change your desktop resolution.

good idea, however it doesnt change the res when you enter the game, only when you Alt+tab during the first load screen
