Yeah maybe it's just me but i`m sick and tired of having like 49548632 character-ran stores right smack down in the middle of the city so not only does it generate lag it gets in the way so you can't click on anything >_<.
I really think they should have only certain sections of town where you can place them, maybe like add on a town square area where all the stores stay..

When in the town press shift + z to remove the characters, cutting out the lag.

I agree it is awful!
I saw a posting by GM Kaalan that recommended people set up their shops down by the waterfront but does anyone remember how bad that was back in CB2?
You couldn't move down there either.
And in the middle of the square in Elderine was just about the worst!
If you were looking to buy anything or looking for teem mates or friends that have spawned in it was a nightmare.
I always set up my store in a field somewhere.
And I have yet to be able to get [shift] + [Z] to work in open beta, maybe it is just me.
:D

Are you in a party ? shift+Z doesn't work in a party.
Do you use a non US keyboard ? then you need to translate. For AZERTY keyboards, it is shift+W

Elzmo, I hear you, and am working on a solution, for a temporary fix though, come to elderine, I summon dragons on a regular basis to wipe out the majority of the shops set up in the more congested parts of town.

Yeah, I have heard about that.
That was a big hit, huh?
Everyone was saying things like, "That GM Kaalan, what a great sense of humor he has"
Actually I am making that part up, LOL
Don't worry Kaalan, I love you!
hehehe!!!

HINT: to get Ctrl+Z to work you have got to press it about 2-4 time quickly and also changing it in the short cuts also helps.

-game always seems to think you are pressing Shift+Z for some reson?-
*chaging the keys seems to help that a lot.

An auction system like the one described in this thread would help with the mushroom spammage by giving another option to sell your good, since right now the only option is to place a selling mushroom.

While we're on the topic of reasons it's horrible to be in town.. can we please get rid of the spammers? We do not have any chat anymore, because there's a constant stream of "10s, $2.98 www.weruingames.com" clogging up the every channel.

Seriously, like once a day (maybe on someone's lunchbreak?) just go to the towns and start banning people.

Let me do it, and I'll do it for free!

Need more mega mob events in town to clean all that out now and then.

If you want my opinion I think there should be a shop district or a marketplace in each town, where each player claim a little booth and sell their loot, but only in that district, point being that booth positions are organized and part of the game so it's not a bunch of run spamming mushrooms.

People stores conform to the spots where there are people. Most of them are at the spot you spawn to when you die, and the second bunch are between the 4 npcs that sell stuff.

If towns were larger, it'd be less laggy, because there would be more room for shrooms and more room for people :}

However, they aren't, sooo.. People will either stay where they are (most likely), find a common place in field(s) (somewhat likely) oor there will be an introduced marketplace district. x)

the GM's should make it so us higher lv chars can come save Roumen  just bring in some higher lv monsters to clean roumen out, and everyone gets a chance to play :P

shift+z works, just many many times it takes hitting it 20 times, plus it doesnt work in a rgoup which makes it a little more aggrivating. But we shouldnt HAVE to use it just to get through town either, implement auction systems and that solves a lot, or at the very least have specified vendor areas/stalls.

Oh sure, use Shift+Z if you want, I still like my way better.

Or the devs could get rid of the shrooms AND shop titles.
FFXI has the best shop system. You select items in your inventory to sell and put them in "bazaars", so when users check you they can access your bazaar at any time.
I hate having to vend by sitting in one spot, cause my comp lags and often freezes up if I leave it on during the night.

the vending system when in Maple Story when you set up a NPC to do the vending for you for a number of days is actually a pretty good system too...the only drawback...you spend real money to get these priveledges...

FFXI's system is good, actually. On top of the store that moves with you you have an auction house.
