Does getting SPR gear increase your crit and SP as well as Skilling it up?

No. Crit is NOT affected by SPR gear. Common misconception. But, SP and m.def are increased I think the same. +5 SP and +1 m. def per point of SPR.

If you are a fighter (thats the section!!!) go to 25 SPR and the rest STR.
You have 5 % to get a critical.

Free stat spr and gear spr are different in two ways. Free stat spr adds critical while spr on gear doesn't. Free stat spr also cuts magic damage done to you by the amount of defense it says it adds but doesn't increase your M def in the character screen. If your M def was like 100 before you used 25 free stat points and added all 25 into spr the free stat window should say: +13M def. But your M def in character window will still be 100. Instead that 13M def cuts 13M damage you take from all magic attacks. Like if Magic attacker Phinofly hit you for 30dmg before and then you added 25spr and got the +13M def then she'd hit you for 15-17ish dmg now. Spr on gears adds to your M def though and doesn't really affect the magic damage you take until you gain a big amount of M def.
