I wanna know what happens when u try to enhance to +5 and fail.

Does it always go back to +3, or does it stay +4 and sometimes if ur really unlucky go back to +3??
And will it always stay like this, that it goes back a + if u enhance past +4 and fail??

Cause i think that if it would just stay +4 when u fail it would be alot easier to bring stability to prices of xen stones.

P.S.
Plz try to stay on the topic this is not a tread about the stability of xen prices but a thread about what happens when u fail if u enhance past +4, there are enough threads about xen prices.

When enhancing from +4 to +5, if you fail, your gear WILL revert back to being a +3 item. Basically you kinda lose like 2 xenstones, the one that got you to +4 and the one that failed just then. Also, moving from +5 to +6 and failing will revert your item to +2 or so I've heard. Hope this helps you understand the enhancing system. Enjoy ^^

yes this is correct, a failed attempt at +5 brings it back to +3, a failed attempt at +6 brings it to +2.
some people also claim that the success rate drops to something like 30% when attempting +6 etc. it takes a HUGE pile of xens after a failed attempt at +6, going back to +2, then bringing it back to +4, attempting +5 a few times, failing the +5 several times(returning to +3), and finally making +5, only to attempt +6 again, and fail going back to +2 and starting over.

The result is that some individuals end out wasting 100+ xens to make a +5 or +6 item.

Hmmm... well I'm just glad my +6 shoes only cost me 5 xens from going from +2 to +6 :D

I tried enhancing my armor to +6, and failed.
The result? +2 armor...

My first time trying for +6 worked. My second time failed. And still failed. But at least it's at +4 (which makes me at the same def as before I got the first +6)

I tried going to +5 with my Tree Helm. Sadly it failed and am now back to +3. T_T
