I hate the chat window!

I hate the chat window and the way you can't communicate and use the hot keys at the same time.
I get killed so much because of that retarded chat window. :(
As it is right now the only thing you can do is move and click when the chat is open.
You can't even get into or out of your home with the home key if the chat is open.
Here is how it plays out for me most of the time,

I am in a party and I am communicating with my teem mates and recovering in my mushroom and suddenly I am being attacked!
Ok, press the [home] key and return to normal state.
Oops that doesn't work!
Close the chat window by pressing [enter]!
That didn,t work, Why? Oh, because I just sent the line I was typing as text, quick press it again.
Ok, select the mob and shoot! wait it's not working!
Why? Oh the chat window is open again and I just typed a string of numbers! whaaaa.
Ok, quick press [enter] close the chat window.
It didn't close! Why? Oh, because I just sent the string of numbers I just typed as text.
Quick, press it again!
Ok, it's closed!
Too late, dead!

How about some ideas on an alternative for that.

yo, tam, jus go in options and turn off text prompt.
