Hey Guys,
I just posted the details for the two Columbus Day events.
Please check it out!
They are:
- Stuck Like Chuck (http://www.outspark.com/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=754&day=2008-10-6&c=1)
- Explorers of Isya (http://www.outspark.com/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=722&day=2008-10-13&c=1)
This POLL will be for us to determine if the prizes are desirable.

You should post the link to those.
I like the scope, but the ship wheel is kind of weak, unless it's autographed by the staff. That makes everything worth winning.

Well for the stuck like chuck event, the prizes are nice although I am not a nautical person since I am not a fan of waking up to the smell of brine in the morning lol, but I love the Santa Maria mover, I can go boom boom with the canon and play battleship! Even though I would not purchase a telescope or ship's wheel irl, I do know certain male acquaintances who make like presents like that. Yes I am a re-gifter! ^^
The explorers of Isya event, well I like to take screenies in the first place so this is an good event I would do for fun anyways not so for the prize. Albeit irl I have the worst direction sense so lol having a compass is sorta cool if I ever go camping again.... Ah camping... where the bugs and the cold and lack of privacy when you need to go... yeah not going camping anytime soon either. But I can re-gift it again to guys I know who enjoys roughing it.
In conclusion, the prizes are sort of neat but I believe it mainly caters to the male demographics of Fiesta, which makes sense if the majority of the players in Fiesta are male. Unless you wish to make it an option for both gender related prizes for both genders ie a race car or a barbie doll? Not all guys would choose a race car but it is nice to give them the option, and yes your distribution departments going to get all >< if they have to contact each winner on which prize they want specifically but isn't that what customer service is all about? Trying to go above and beyond your competition and setting a benchmark of excellence.

They are interesting prizes. Not sure what other words to use to describe them. Not very often you see items like this for a prize XD. However, I agree with what sirviney said; if they were to be autographed by the staff, it would probably draw a lot more interest in them.

May seem like a stupid question but - are these prizes available for Outspark users outside of the US? I think that should be made clear since that would obviously influence my answer being that I'm from the UK :p.
In general, I think IRL prizes are a pretty cool idea but only if ALL supporters of Outspark have a chance to win and receive them. A ship wheel is somewhat random but hey, its a unique and original idea :) which is definitely a bonus.

Question: Are the prizes only available to those in North America? I'm guessing yes but just checking.
EDIT: Oh damn, someone beat me to it while i wrote this. lol. too quick!! XD

Hmm there is an issue if you autograph all the irl prizes. Some prizes are nice and if it is free I won't complain about it whether I like it or not. If I do not like it, it does not mean the prize is no good. For me specifically, I am not a nautical person so such themed prized would not be something I would use irl but I can give them to others I know who would enjoy them. Perhaps try an option of do you want use to sign it or not cause non Fiesta players would go ><... why did you give me a doodle telescope with all these peeps names I never heard off, while if someone who loves the telescope irl and is a fan of Fiesta can request it to be signed ^^. Like all things that are autographed it does not automatically make it more desirable/valuable, it's really based on the perception of the buyer.

Real life prizes would be great. You should give an Outspark Lampshade away inspired by me; The lampshade mage.

I wanted to have that type of merchandise available in a regular store.

Totally agreed. This is rather off topic, however is that actually a possibility in the near future?
I'd love wearing an Outspark T-Shirt in public. It'd be even cooler if you could get them custom ordered with your character on it.
and that's how you Hijack a thread.

I personaly think the RL telescope, wheel, and cumpass are weak. The normal person wouldn't have use for them. Honestly, I would rather have an IG prize or a hoddie/shirt/backpact/etc than the listed prizes.

Soooooooo.... only for North American's then? Yes? No? Dust? :S
I guess... if I won something like a compass or whatever I wouldn't have any real use for it, but I would use it as a classroom resource for if I ever did a nautical theme but ummm... I don't really think the prizes are that worth-while in the grand scheme of things. I'd much rather strut my stuff in a funky Outspark hoody. These prizes would most likely just end up dust collectors.

Hell, I'll take a dust collector.
That telescope would go perfect with my desk.

Well, these prizes are basically not really useful.
It's meant more for decorative purposes OR
cosplay purposes; in event which you want to cosplay as fiesta's mara pirate looking across the vast seas with the brass telescope,
"sitting" in your custom-made mara pirate ship mover [hmm it will be more like you moving it, lol]
And veering/turning away with your [unattached? wooden? heavy?] ship wheel.
Oh and throwing (black)paper cannon balls at whoever is obstructing your way. :D
Oh boy, I was laughing away as I type those above, me in that costume and mover? NO WAY!! LOL!!!
Ok, back to the topic, yeah though they are not really useful, we must still stick to the theme of the event, which in this case, the prizes will suit really nicely. So yeah, I voted that it R0x!
Oh the idea of having T-shirts like those ingame will be great. Let's not start on merchanising first, and take some time to wonder "If I am all crazy about Fiesta/Outspark, why don't I go the extra mile to custom-made them?"
I feel it will surely be something unique for yourself, instead of wide-region conformities.

Being an Australian I would have no interest in joining any competition where I wouldnt be elligible to receive prizes. Outspark are hapy to allow me to spend my real life money on the game I think therefore they should allow me the opportunity to receive prizes.
I would prefer to see special armour or weapons as prizes, items that I could use ingame.

I wouldn't mind also getting some sort of in game item that was limited edition.
It doesn't have to have stats, but something that gives you bragging rights :p
