Rep Farming in the Bijou Community.

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed, or possibly I'm just over analyzing it; but it's clear to me that a close-knit group of people have been cycling reps on each other for some time now.
This is becoming more and more prevalent with more people lately.
Its entirely possible that said persons have earned there rep elsewhere that I haven't noticed; but very few of the people who have acquired huge reps recently actually deserved it.
Now I'm hoping that I don't a huge amount of flames for a possible misinterpretation I'm having, but I know at least some of the people around these parts have been doing something dishonorable and it really takes the greatness out of having it when people are cheating or being dishonest in order to get it.
Hoping to get input from others, I don't mind if they agree or disagree, but hopefully some others have noticed this too and I'm not just being trigger happy ;).

Although, I haven't really noticed it. I saw a bijou user--which I now wish I would have SSed for this thread--who had 4 green boxes and under 100 posts.. The siggy was of a level 70 fighter, I think, and they had a bunch of inside jokes and guild stuff in their siggy.. I'm assuming, he just posts on a maybe a guild thread and everyone just keeps +repping. ><

And ya, I realized that it was an infraction of the user agreement, abusing rep, which is why I brought it up.
But I'm fairly sure it would be hard to prove/disprove either way.
Not that having or not having rep effects anything in any way, but one would like to think it might ;).

Well, I can say your observations are pretty valid. But as you've said, it's hard to prove. Earning much rep isn't big deal, but when they abuse it by -repping others, then its another matter altogether.

I quite understand how Morok suddenly got 6 -rep bars.... from having only one neg rep like 3-4 weeks ago. And to think he doesn't post much.... though some of his posts are arguably -rep worthy I suppose, but I can't imagine how he suddenly got so much -rep bars all of a SUDDEN.

So yeah, haha, I've observed it too.

i've noticed it too, and i have to agree with you. In my eyes, rep isnt really important, because, to me, the amount of rep you have, doesnt really say anything about the type of person you really are.

rep abusing has been known now....and we can't do anything about it unless we get +repped [which actually everyone wants] without any reason or got -repped and you dont know why..try to take a screenie of it and send it to the staff and they will try to fix the problem.

I am a prude about giving out reps about 1 rep a week, since I usually only give them out for thread starters who put a lot of effort into getting group participation on a project or guide creators. Although lately I try to be more lenient and give reps to people with constructive criticisms or brief ironic statements pointing out the obvious in kinsin's case ^^.

I know a majority of my posts are lengthy and I have been criticized to keep it much more brief so everyone read my posts without losing interest due to their opinion of the general populace having a lack on intellect or lack of attention span. I get angry at those remarks because anyone can be stupid when faced with someone new or unexpected and just because someone takes longer to process and understand information does not make them inferior.

I may get a lot of retaliatory - reps for making this statement but from my experience working as a counselor with disadvantages minorities I am quite vocal and protective of others with less than me. I feel an enmity towards those who rep farms without putting much effort besides spamming large amounts of replies without any substance and who have a need to put down others just to make themselves feel better. You may keep - rep me all you want, it is only a game that will not matter in the real world as it will basically reflect how unscrupulous a person they may be irl.

Omg, you rep guide helped me out when someone mentioned rep me, and I was thinking what is rep?. Also I would like to thank you brother Asmo as I find his guide informative on which zones I should grind more effcient and effectively, So I repped both your guides. Although I am not a fan of Asmo's guide to marriage, while he seems to put a lot of effort into it and it is funny according to my bf until I gave him the "look", I just find it more fun to poke fun at yourself than others ^^.

If you suspect anyone of abusing rep or "rep farming" and you think it could possibly be an issue, please do not hesitate to PM any of the CLs. We will look into it and if we feel it is something to be concerned about, we will inform Outspark staff.

Remember everyone, it is just rep. Green pixelated rectangles on a forum on the internet. If you want rep, just be yourself, and hopefully you will get positive rep for your posts. But again, remember, its only the internet, be careful if you're out to get rep... you might end up getting yourself in trouble in the end.
