I was watching a hardcore, old action movie called Bloodsport with Jean-Claude Van Damme and an interesting thought occured to me.:D

I have heard a lot of names floating around about the top-notch fighters out there like wHiTeSol, Waltimore, KannonZ, DarkRukia, MrN0ble, Totti and the list goes on. There has even been the emergence of upstarts like Nana.

My proposal, if you have not guessed by now, is that there be a contest to decide who amongst all these pretenders is worthy of the title in the absence of the undisputed King, Romance (R.I.P).

I am proposing that this event is by invitation only and will take place at a venue and time that only the invitees will know. This is for obvious reasons such as lag and outside interference.

I am still working out the details such as the rules and so on.

I am also proposing that there be a level limit to this competition which is between level 79 and 89 and a maximum of 20 fighters will be entered in the competition. If you are outside of this range, then when the final list is posted you can challenge one of the final contestants for the right to take his spot in the competition. However, only 10 challenges will be allowed, again for obvious reasons such as time. After these 10 challenges, the final final list will be posted.

I will post further details at a later date and some of these requirements are subject to be changed because as I said I am still working out the details.

I am open to some suggestions and I would like to get some feedback on this proposal.

As I said I am working on the details. I know that everyone will want to see the fights but it is just not possible because of lag issues. I don't want someone to lose and have to complain about lag. My proposal is that the battles be recorded and posted on youtube.
Only officials [the main referee (a cleric), two assistants (clerics), two guards (mages) and the camera man] and one supporter of each fighter will be allowed to witness the fight live. What do you guys think?

Beckywolf2

o.o

It`s just an idea, so clearly, the creator of this thread wouldn`t have posted any rules/requirements or such. If this does happen, I assume they will come up with something that deals with SC and enhanced/+ stats armor.

if we did traditional apoline dueling, there'd be no way to cheat or to have the upperhand.

no stones/pots/scrolls/buffs/charms/ANY crit suits(if it has a crit version availiable, then take it off anyways).

when a stun fails, both members acknowledge that it was a FAIL not a miss, and redo the match.

when both members stun fail, the match keeps going.

switching out weapons/armour is permitted. no outside assistance whatsoever.

I propose that everyone be permitted two buffs to their character which would include the marriage buff, the guild buff and scrolls. No hp/sp buff allowed, no cleric party buffs, all scrolls except crit scrolls and no purple pots.

I propose that no spark cask items be used be it mini dolls, crit suits, charms and so on. I would have experts who will tell if you are charmed and if you are you will be disqualified. Further, if you are married, you are not allowed to use the marriage pet as it would be considered a spark cash item.

I propose that if someone has extenders and the other player does not then the player that does not would have the option of using a t3/4 vitality scroll and if that person had already used up there alotted 2 buff limit then they will be permitted a 3rd. If neither player has extenders, then so it shall remain; if both players have extenders, then it shall also remain so.

A failed stun would be considered an issue with the player's character and would not result in a do-over.

You only get to decide at the beginning what would be your weapon of choice, this is the weapon that you must use for the rest of the tournament.

What do you guys think?

You`re welcome.
:P

Question, though. What, exactly, are they competing for? Best build? Best armor/weapons? Best at playing his/her class? Or best in general, with aid of SC/IG charms/scrolls?

All around bragging rights. :)

(I would assume it would be for being best at PVP...while Romance is still on hiatus.)

no one has control on failed stuns. if fighters were to count a failed stun against another fighter, and take the point, where does skill come into play? just like the "target is out of range" bug, no one has control over it. romance and waltimore always held a common curtosy to back off when the opponent's stun fails, and redo the match. not only is this a great act of sportsmanship, but it saves dueling time(you do not have to wait 2-3 mins on vit cd)

concerning extenders: allowing another fighter to put on a vit scroll sounds nice, but then your hp bonus must be very close to 1.5x or they have an advantage. work it out in advance what kind of hp buff lvl/scroll tier you must use.

scrolls in general: shunned upon when dueling 1 v 1. its all about what natural power and skill you have.

switching weapons: not a sc item, not cheating IMO. if you're switching out for your skill spam to do MORE DAMAGE your doing something wrong anyways.

I think you all need to look there.

Being that I was at the top of the ladder before uncap, I'll suggest that this isn't ever going to be settled for a few reasons.

1) We're all still using our 79 armors. We'll always think that with 89 armors, we'd of done better [[and we would have]]

2) Allowing 79-89 members to participate is silly. Going through levels 8x, you get upgrades of EVERY skill you own. New defense debuff, dex debuff, attackspeed debuff [which is exclusive at 89], etc etc.

3) Since you're not going with the conventional rules [I.e., No HP stones/pots, crit suits, or cs items] then you're not doing it right, and one side will obviously take control eventually.

4) Seeing how you're not even allowing a stun-fail the chance for a do-over is just ridiculous and downright unsportsmanlike.

5) As when Romance JOHNNY555 and I did it. We followed the rules listed in #3 to a race to 5. First to 5 wins was the victor. In the end it would take to long for a single elimination tourney.

6) More of the same as in #1-5

I would love to watch this fight if it ever happens. If someone can film it, that would be awesome.

Even if this is just for pvp bragging rights, it should go ahead. If you don't care about that sort of thing, then that's not a problem. But alot of fighters (and other classes) put many hours and lots of energy into their characters to make them 'the best', so being able to fight it out to find a current winner would be great. Yes, people will still complain and blah blah blah.. but that's what happens anyway so why care?

Take note of what ^ has said too. Very good points.

Yes you get bragging rights for 6 months because I am proposing that the tournament be held every 6 months, if the first one is a success and you being "best", as NiZi said, would be in PvP.

I expect civil, sportsmanlike conduct during the tournament. Think of it more like a fencing tournament as opposed to a street brawl. Uncivilised behaviour will be frowned upon and may lead to disqualification.

What do you guys think?

The problem that I have here is that there are some fighters even without scrolls may have the added advantage of a marriage buff and a guild buff. I was just thinking of a way to level the playing field for a fighter without either of these. I would like suggestions as to how to deal with this.

switching weapons: not a sc item, not cheating IMO. if you're switching out for your skill spam to do MORE DAMAGE your doing something wrong anyways.

I propose then that if you are to switch weapons, you cannot switch during the fight but you can switch before or after the fight.

I accept your points. I propose then that sportsmanship be shown on a stun fail, the limit is 8x but I still maintain that someone outside of the limit can challenge someone inside for their spot in the final group, most people are still using their 70 armour so this is not a problem and the conventional rules will be followed except I think hp stones should be allowed otherwise the matches might be over too quickly. Keep in mind that there would be 20 fighters in the final and I propose that it be single round elimination that's why I would allow the use of hp stones but pots are absolutely out of the question. What do you guys think; keep the feed back coming.

The point is that it is a short match. I don't know how closely you follow fighter matches, but the victor is usually the person who can't stun. Stun = 8 seconds. Stones = 8 seconds. Stun failing means that in that 8 seconds they get to onslaught you with skills. The outcome should be the same in a race to 5 no stone match anyway. Regardless of how many of your skills fail. In a match decided on 5 wins, the stronger player will always come out on top. Always.
