I want to create a tank class. Basically I want (No I don't want "oh dont do that thats stupid you wont be able to level!) a guy who can take all the damage in the world but can barely dish it out. I want to be the guy that takes all the punches while my teammates dish it out. I want to be a guy who can't do anything on his own but is an awesome tank when it comes to partying.

So do I take a Templar or Fighter? And what build should I have?

Honestly you should make a Rogue with 50/50 Agility and Endurance, and try to get the best gears possible.
Their hidden dodge ability combined with massive hitpoints would allow you to tank many monsters easily.
Just my opinion of the matter.

hmm, I'm a Templar, and we certainly dont fit the description you outlined. Templars are Solstice's Swiss army knife! xD

Knights are great with DEF, and they have some pretty cool skills, but are by no means helpless.

Rogues... they have less DEF than Temps or Knights, but the dodge is a great substitute. If you want a "helpless but useful" character, I would say try to use any of the above named classes, and just use a modified build.

well of course if I CAN fight, thats fine, but basically if I were to put everything in defense, which class would give me the best bang for my buck

Sorry but I can dish out as much damage as I can take. A warrior is by no means a weak class

ummm u cant add stat pts to def, def is all about getting +sumthing ap sumthing armor
n for fighters they are extremely expensive
i suggest rouge, w/ enhance mons can almost nvr hit them (wen u get to a certain # of agi)
fighter if u want to b gud at aoe but suk @ PvP

The OP is looking for a class that can take damage but not dish it. I'm pointing out that warriors can dish out damage as well

well everyone can dish out damage so he is looking for something that does not exist...

I KNOW! he can be a warrior without a sword.. that outta fit his description well xD

Hmm maybe use a Squire with more STA than POW? Oo
(That would mean a lot of repots though... xD Much less carry weight capacity)

yeah hes definately talking about over-STA-ing his guy. and squire would be the way to go with like a 4-1 sta to pow build i think.

Yea, a rouge with high + app defense gears and no dagger would fit his description.

But ya def is low. And with high dodge rate u will get also hits sometimes.

I think the Rogue class does fit his description.

How about a cleric. They can barely solo and do low damage and are arguably the most useful class to a pty With great gear, a lot of sta, a long with B incubators, and love cape plus the new def mask they can tank eas, and lets not forget about bless xD. I think that class would really fit. Don't you agree?

lol Tanker Cleric. O.o
Well I wonder if even with all that clerics would be able to tank? Because they have even lower def than mages (Bless probably makes up for it, but still)

Go Templar :D
A lot of STA + assist heal means you'll be able to tank pretty well even if Templar def is lower than Knights'

no no no no no no no no no. Although AH is superb at healing yourself, I think a high STA squire is what hes talking about.
Only cause i met a couple of them in game. They could barely atk but they had such frickin high HPs that they could get hit forever.

No reason he can't be a templar and also go high STA ^^
Squire gears may have slightly better def, but it'll be much easier trying to afford templar gears :)
