Making multiple incubators

Is it still possible to make multiple incubators?
I've seen people with 3 incubators for the defence. i heard that you just re-start the pet quest and make multiple incubators. so anyway, i have made one, and now i'm making another, but when i go to the blacksmith to refine he says that i already have one, and when i equip it he says something about unequiping incubators before doing this step.

so how do you go abouit getting through the first and second enchantment steps of the pet quest when making multiple incubators?

I think they're storable in the hotel. try doing that before seeing the blacksmith.


and if you're just making an incubator to get the def, i think you can just enhance it with a xen stone on the step you're supposed to enhance it with the pendants and get Incubator B (which is the +3 def one)
I'm not 100% positive about that though so don't take my word for it

No, u cant deposit incubators in the hotel.

Be sure ur not on a cooldown from an other egg. (As far as i know u can only do one pet cooldown at a time.)

you can only have one egg at a time (as far as i know). you exchange your old egg for a new one.

They are not storable at the hotell. so there is no way to temporarily hide it.

I am making it just for the def, when you select a standard incubator(no "A" or "B") it removes the xen option, you can only use pendants.

I have already stuffed it up a few times trying to sort it out, clicking on the egg when i shouldent have, visiting jarika at the wrong time etc.

I already have an incubator B, it seems like that is stopping me from doing the enhancement, if i have any incubators equiped it says that i need to unequip them, and if i have it unequipped it says i've already got an incubator and dont need to enhance one.

EDIT: ON TOPIC: I too am going for a second incubator, when I finally get to the enhancing quest I'll see if there is anything to be done about getting it to "B".

TRX, i was asking for recent information, as it is possible that OS have changed the game so that it's not possible anymore.
yes i've already loked through many thrieds, eg:

and have talked to people that have done it a long time ago, so am familure of how it should work. Thus my supprise when it does not work.

I have my fourth incubator B now (obviously this one I'll make a pet with), and with this incubator I think I had a similar problem to what you did. I ran all over trying to find out what happened with my quest, because even though I was on the step to make the incubator (the first incubator with no letter), my quest log said I was on the first incubator enhancement step (the step that makes it A), and the blacksmith said I needed to use a xen stone to enhance it, which was for the second enhancement step (the step that makes it B). Very screwed up.

What I ended up doing was deleting the quest from my quest list, then talked to the egg again. Fortunately, it gave me the quest for that step (I was afraid I'd have to start the pet quest from the beginning). Then I just went and talked to the alchemist and everything was fine. Don't know why it screwed up so bad that time...it never did anything like that the other times I got my incubators. Maybe one of the recent patches messed it up.

Actually i currently have 4 incubators all at different stages, and maybe that is one factor confusing the blacksmith(partly also from mistake by talking to jarika early on, so i did the first stage a few times to get the bonus def of 3 of the basic incubators before continuing the later stages of the pet quest). hence i have 4 incubators at different stages:2 basic(the first steps are quick, so i wanted to get some fast def), an incubator A from a loooong time ago when i talked to Jarika by mistake, and an incubator B.

I have numerous times deleated the quest for enchanting the incubator(1st time), and then talk to the egg, then essene alchemist, and back to the blacksmith. now he says absolutely nothing when i talk to him when the incubators are equipped, and complains when i have them unequipped.

I am at the initial enhance stahe, it does not say "compleated" next to the step, but obviously the way the blacksmith is programmed is:
-IF egg gives pet quest: then open up pet quest refining options for that stage
-IF incubator refining options are open: normal enhancing is not possible while any incubator is equipped
-IF incubator refining options are open: incubator refining is not an option if any incubators are equipped
-IF incubator refining options are open: will not refine if user already has that incubator (eg A)
-when talking to egg, it checks inventory but not acc slots if quest stage is compleated.

It seems like the CPS does not keep track of compleation of the quest, irrespective of where you are in the quest process.
this means that because i have an old incubator A, i can not make another one at this stage of the quest, even though this is a totally different quest/egg from the time i made the previous one.

therefore i am thinking i will need to use my old incubator A at this stage instead of using the new basic incubator that i had recently created. that should hopefully get me through this stage of the quest, though wasting an incubator A in the process.

This is new, it didn't do this check in the past. I just hope it doesn't do the same thing with incubator B now, where the blacksmith would force me to use the old incubator B instead of creating a new one from my incubaor A.

I will keep you all informed when i find out how that step goes.


TRX: it's cool. i was just looking for a bit more info than what was previously discussed, and more recent info(in case things have changed). At least i'm learning all the pitfalls in the pet quest, so will be able to share the info with others so other people don't fall into the same trap (it's a pain to have wasted sections of the quest, more cooldowns etc)

That sounds really messed up, and if he won't let you use your old incubator A to do the quest, you may have to delete it manually to be able to enhance your current incubator. The wasted items into the incubator sucks, but you'd probably end up deleting it eventually anyway (assuming you won't be able to use it towards a future pet quest) to get 3 incubator B's, and once you've got your 3 B incubators, the only one you'd ever need is the one going for your next pet.

Yeah, it is messed up. I eventually got it to work, at the loss of my old incubator A.

hey, can you re-use a music box?
i currently have 2 music boxes, a standard music box and a music box duo (from the previous incubator B). now i came to the part where the old man puts in extra songs into the music box to make it a duo.
so:
-the egg tells me to talk to the crazy old man
-the crazy old man tells me to fetch some paper
-after fetching the notebook, i return to the crazy old man.
-the crazy oldman says "Oh, you brought me a notepad. Okay then, I need to write the notes down and put it in the music box. Wait a while, okay?" -continue
after pressing continue it instantly brings me to the standard responce "Huh? you want toplay catch with me?"

nothing changes(i still have one of each, music box and music box duo, no messages in the feed), the egg still tells me to talk to the old man to find out about more music, and the quest seems stuck.

Do i need to deleate the old music box duo so that i can turn my music box single into a music box duo in order to register something somewhere in order to advance? if possible i'd prefer not to delete the old music box duo, as if i could keep it and use the old music box duo, and could subsiquently keep the old music box single then maybe next time i do the next incubator i won't have to make a 3rd music box.

I've tried deleating the quest, talking to everyone many times etc, it seems like the only way to proceede is to deleate the old music box duo so i can turn my music box single into a duo to get past this stage. I hate deleating items like this. :/

I tried keeping my old music box too and couldn't get it to work either, so I'm guessing you'll probably have to delete it. It would be nice if they allowed us to trade them. They'd make a cool gift to someone if you were able to, since the only way you could get one to trade would be to cancel the pet quest after getting it. There are other quests in the game where you can trade the key quest item.

As a rogue, I don't have much choice but to delete those extra quest items if they're of no use, since they tend to weight me down, and I have little enough weight to begin with. It's frustrating going out duoing with my knight friend, and having to go to town twice as often as he in order to sell off my drops, even though I use sc pots, and he uses game pots (and that's after deleting/using all the pots, scrolls and trackers I get from drops). Every bit of extra weight helps for me. If you're another class, it may not be that big a deal though :).

Torean: yeah, i got ridof the 2nd music box.

Darkburst: doesnt that seem like exploiting a unintended bug to bypass the blacksmiths check process? It seems like it's meant to take a lot of work to make an incubator B.
