Weapon enhancement success rate?

I've read the game guide entry on enhancing weapons/armor and believe I understand the mechanics: place weapon in slot, place appropriate stone (just one) in box, hit begin and watch the wheel spin. What I don't understand is how anyone ever manages to enhance a weapon a second or third time. It seems that the chances of downgrading or destroying the item are much greater than the chances of success. So even if you manage to succeed one time and get a +1 effect you're much more likely to destroy the item than succeed a second or third time. So far out of half a dozen or so attempts I have succeeded once and destroyed four items including the one success.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to increase your odds for success? Am I just unlucky? If I understand it correctly you only have a one in eight chance (12.5%) of success.

The odds are actually a bit more in your favor than 1 in 8, and they get better if you use Lucky or Blessed stones. That said... yeah, it's hard. Don't try to upgrade anything you can't afford to lose.

Honestly, I think losing an item due to this is either the worst or one of the worst aspects of the game. It adds nothing to the game really, only takes away from it. Losing 2 level 20 staves without even getting them to +3 (one I even just used blessed stones on) has really annoyed me to no end. I'm not sure why I should play a game that annoys me like this.

I personally love but hate to enhance. I've enhanced basically everything my character has to at least +3, but you are definitely right about it being hard. You should just watch where the cursor lands for a bit and try to predict where it'll land next; that's how it's always worked for me. I only use blessed stones on expensive or rare items, like my wind Roumen bow. But when I do break weapons it always makes me so frustrated and I usually end up logging off for many hours before wanting to play again.

Well this isnt a gambling game for one, and just my opinion but they shouldnt make items be destroyed if we failed enhancement. I wasted 10s just trying to get my lvl20 wand to +3, and I just started so 10s is kinda a lot to me

so far every lucky or bleseed i used failed.
I try to did shield +3 and 2 lucky elrue failed,
and regular elrue worked :\
I think all luck.
I saw player with +9 on he's staf.. it's crazy o_0

and if there are 8 options and only 2 is success. the success rate is 25%.

well i for one had a good +5 sword went to upgrade it one more time about 4 days later and destroyed it ,i got so irritated but i love the game i think its a game of chance like roulette so my money is on the gold lol:)

Pfft, thats nothing. the moment I passed the mage exam and tried to enhace my new weapon, i broke it. after racking an extra 5,500 it tried again, succeeded twice and broke it again.

I really don't want talk about the other three attempts.
