Everyone has a story! Did you begin your years as a human farm boy who discovered that you had amazing healing powers? Or an elf from a long line of wizards who formed an underground guild who's purpose was to defend all living things from evil as mine is and if anyone tries to take the story I'm going to write I'll sue their pants off?!?!?! Or are you simply another character in a video game who's entire life seems to be controled by something else (even the choices you make), and you think that you may be.......the one.....? Write your story here! I thought I've give someone else the floor so I don't start out the thread looking like an ego-sentric jerk!

The Story of Argutae: Part 1:
Meeting Argutae

Sandel pulled his cloak closer to himself. The night air bit and stung his skin. For four days now he had been traveling on a ship, a ship that belonged to his father. It was captained by Mr. Briney, or at least, that's what he demanded to be called. He was a kind enough man, but very strict, and didn't allow Sandel to be out on deck, for he said he would bother the crew in their work. The crew were very kind to him. They were all hard working too. At night when they would come down beneath the deck they would tell Sandel stories about their adventures out on the seas, or teach him things, like how to carve wood. One of the men even gave Sandel an ornate spyglass. They seemed to like the boy well enough, but there was the fair majority of them who despised him even the least bit because of his father, Eikielzo Saddon. Eikielzo was a relentless buisness tycoon who controlled a good deal of Roumen and Elderine's crafting and marketing guilds, and large amount of the cities themselves. He required a great deal of larbor from his many workers, especially his merchant ships, like the one Sandel was on. As you can imagine, many fine families worked with the Saddon line, but none had any respect for them; Eikielzo so fat and pompouse, completely indulged in himself, and his wife Seleghna, so prim and spoiled by her jusband, her only obligations to bring her husband the pleasure of her company while she wallows in his wealth. They decided to demand the respect they, or rather Eikielzo, wanted from the public. Their son would be sent off to train in the arcane arts. He knew what they whispered at night, how they delighted in the notion of having a magician in the family, a tool to frighten the other families, the cities. That's all he was to them: a tool; an investment. And now he was being shipped off to a forest that bordered the sea, to learn from the elves. The knowlege of men was, unbeknowest to them, at this time dwindeling. The population of human wizards was now all but gone. It would bring great prestige to the family name if they were to have a mage amongst them.
"You there! Boy!" Sandel's back straitened with a jolt at the sound of the captain's barking voice. He wheeled around on his heel to face him.
"M-M-Mr. Briney! I-I'm sorry I-"
"Stow it." he said. He walked over to where Sandel stood shocked. He stood next to him at the railing over looking the sea. Silently he draped a thick, musceled arm on the boy's shoulders.
"Anxious abou' tomorra'?" he said after a pause. Sandel looked at his feet.
"Yes."
Mr. Briney nodded.
"Never met an elf me'self. 'Don't reckon most any'un in Roumen has for tha' matte'. "Tis a great hono' to have such an oppe'tunity it is."
"I suppose..." he said quietly.
"Ye' best get 'sum shut eye 'fer the big day. Wouldn't want ye' 'ter be tired 'fer such a big day now would we?"
Sandel simply shook his head.
"It's just that...."
"Hmm?"
"The waves..... the.... the ocean... it's.. calming... I-"
"Ah yes. The big blue. Quit a mystery ain't she? I find 'er loverly too... mmm.. I'll just leave 'ye and 'er 'alune then shall I?" Mr. Briney gave him a weak smile then draped a blanket on his back, then walked away. Sandel stood looking out at the ocean for a time beyond his reckoning, until eventually he drifted off into a quiet slumber right where he stood.

"What'dya reckon we should do with 'im?"
"Throw him over the side of the ship me thinks, right into the briney deep with him!"
"Aye, i'n't that the captain's decreed penelty 'fer sleepin' on the deck?"
"I do believe it is my good sir!"
"Then on my ma'k or yo's?"
"Oh why not yours old chap?"
"Too kind you ah', too kind! Rightoe then lift 'im up!"
"Up he goes!"
"Up indeed!"
Sandel felt a pair of hands grib his shoulders and another his feet, then lift him off the wood beneath him.
"Stop! Stop!" Sandel realized he was laughing. He heard two other voices laughing too as he felt himslef lowered and finally the hard wood beneath him again. He opened his eyes to see two heads hovering above him. They belonged to Jodia Nertha, the first man who spoke, with the heavy Cogne accent, and Todda Aivle, two of the crewmen, both barely twenty, and Sandel's favorite of the crew. Three years ago they both started on this ship. Jodia was impossible on his own and was blown overboard during a storm while up in the rat ropes. Todda, who was a good deal brighter than Jodia, was up with him on the opposite side of the ship. When he saw Jodia fall he fastened a rope to himself and dove in after him. He pulled them both onto the deck and had been inseperable ever since (save for the brief off seasons they received when their time belonged souly to their beloved wives). They were absolute nuts when they were together.
Sandel smiled back at their smug, unshaven faces. He felt fingers run through and ruffel his hair.
"Stop it!!" he yelled again.
"Jodia, you'd better listen to the boy, or else his rich father'll have your head!"
"That's right, he would! Now would one of you please help me up?" he laughed. Their rough, calloused hands grabbed him under his arms and hoisted him to his feet.
"Land ho!"
"Thank'e mister Sweendle!"
"D'ya hear that Todda? Land!
Sandel was barely on his feet when the two let go of him, and he fell back on his back.
"Hey!" Sandel got to his feet in time to see the two walk off laughing to their posts. He brushed himself off and gathered the blanket Mr. Briney had given him the previous night and ran off to the oversized cabin he slept in that used to belong to the captain, but was insisted to be given to him by his parents. He set the blanket at the foot of his bed and put his satchel on his shoulders that contained his clothes, some personal items, and a dagger in a sheath made from pure saphire, with a golden handel shaped in the image of a dragon's head, imbedded with rubies in place of eyes. He then ran off to the mast in the middle of the deck. He pushed his satchel aside and began scaling the robes to the crow's nest, where he met Mr. Sweendle who let him look out at the land that had come into sight. He looked through the spyglass Mr. Sweendle had given him earlier. Enormous trees came into his view, trees bigger than he had ever seen. Stranger still some seemed to grow in strange ways, with broad roots that intertwined and wrapped themselves into what looked like... buildings. The forest was so close that with the spyglass he felt that he could reach out and touch it.
"Bueati-ful ain' it?" the man said.
"Mister Tar-dur, prepare to dock the ship. Nettda, Durruk, Bawley, secure the sails. Misters Leechin, Dellwahn, and Zertath, you-" Sandel heard Mr. Briney bark out orders to the crew as they neared the docks, docks that seemed to be made of the roots of a nearby tree themselves. As they drew nearer Sandel heard voices singing out. He knew it had to be Elvish, but the voices mingled and blended so smoothly, so sweetly that he couldn't make out any of it. There had to be at least ten different harmony parts to their song. It was mesmerising.
Sandel scanned the docks and the area around. He couldn't see anyone that the voices could be coming from.
"Where are those voic-?" he began to ask, but he didn't need to finish the query. For no sooner had he opened his mouth did multitudes of figures begin to materialize from the shadows cast by the trees. Heavily cloaked were they, their faces covered by their hoods, if it weren't for the sheer number of them they would blend perfectly with the trees behind them. None of them set foot on the dock though.
The ship was but a few hundred yards or so from the dock. Sandel suddenly snapped back to reality when he realized he wasn't standing in the crow's nest with Mr. Sweenley any longer. Nay, in fact the latter was now holding him by his armpits over the edge, dangling over the deck.
"Wait, what are you-" then he felt Sweenley's grip release, and he fell. He opened his mouth to scream as he slowly succumed to the sickly weightless feeling one of the land feels if they are placed in the air, when just as soon he landed, in the arms of Jodia Nertha.
"G'day gov!" he said cheerily.
"Brilliant catch 'ye ol' rascal of a man!" coughed Mr. Sweenley
"I prefer savin' dansels me'self, but 'new that I'm a married man 'n all, 'me wife wouln'd let me hea' the end've it 'f'I did go out lookin' 'fer ladies 'ter be savin'! It's a good thing 'yer so small 'n light though 'n'it?"
Sandel then found himslef in a small rowboat headed for the docks, which was still empty, but surrounded by the cloaked figures. Who were they going to meet? he wondered. Why wasn't whoever it was on the docks?
<Welcome young one, welcome> Sandel looked around in surprise. He had heard a voice echoing in his mind.
<You're not mad. I am speaking to you. Behold!> Then, on the docks, there was a great gale of wind, and a torrent of leaves. There, as if they were blown in by the wind, five figures appeared. Four stood in two rows, two parallel to the other, the one in front of the row on the right wore a black cloak, embroided with golden thread that stood out brilliantly against it. Behind him a figure cloaked in green, a brighter, more vibrant green than the other figures around them, embroided with the same symbols and patterns as the others'. The leader of the row to the left wore a bright blue cloak, so light it was alomost white, but as it moved in the wind it seemed to change colors and glimmer. The figure's behind her was cloaked in red. And finally the figure that stood in front of and in between the two rows, who was cloaked in blue, a blue the color of the sea, and as deep as saphires. His cloak was more ornate than the others'. The figure turned around to its companions and raised its arms high. Sandel saw that on the back of his cloak a cirlce was embroided, inside it a star made of interlocking triangles, he recognized it from the things the town blacksmith had hanging in his shop. An alchemic seal. The figure turned back to the boat and all five of them raised shields above their heads, that they produced from the folds of their cloaks. On each shield was a black wolf.
<By the Order of the Everlasting Light, I am the Blue Wizard> the boat was now at the docks. The figure in fron threw back his hood to reveal a sculpted face with pointed ears, blue hair that fell down his head in jagged spikes, and piercing blue eyes, the color of his cloak and hair. With a gleam in his deep eyes he said:
"My name is Argutae. Welcome to the Elven Forests of Isya, guarded by Her Ladiship Teva" -To be continued..... if anyone wants to hear more...

The Story of Argutae, Part 2: The Black Fang

"Sure do know how to introduce themselves don't they?" Todda whispered with a smile.
"As agreed, I'm sure." said the elf again, but with distaste on his face. He looked toward Mr. Briney.
"'M af'erd so master elf. Got a tight schedule 'ter keep we does!"
"I see," he said, "Well dispite your discurtesey, I offer you praise. Let this gesture to honor the old alligences be the first of many in this time of waning drakness." he said with a bow, and behind him the other elves bowed as well.
The four men on the boat stood awkwardly and bowed as well.
"Present the child please," Argutae said again with his delighted smile once again on his lips. Todda looked at Sandel with sadness. Regrettfully he picked him up and set him on the dock.
"Oh! Sandel!" he said quickly, "I have something for you." he reached inside the satchel that hung by his side, and produced a small hipsack. It was made of a fine leather and embroided with real gold.
"Just a little something from the crew." he said. And he tied it around Sandel's waist.
"How did you......it's beautiful...." he said. Though his parents were rich, they had never provided something so fine for their child.
"We do make a substantial living working for that tyrant of a father of yours," he whispered then wrapped his arms around the child. Then Jodia climbed out of the boat and did the same. After a few seconds their gazes fell on Mr. Briney, who awkwardly cleared his throat and offered the child his hand to shake, which he quickly withdrawed after a quick touch from Sandel.
"Off we go then men!" he coughed. Sandel stood wordlessly as the two men left him and Todda gave him a goodbye ruffle of his hair. Argutae turned to the elves and spoke a word in elvish. On que the elves bagan their song again. The boat began to move toward the ship. The boat of the humans was simple, made of wood, and in the classic conical shape pointed at the end. As the bgan to become distant, multitudes of other row boats appeared on the horizon, from the direction of the woods. They were beautifully made, of a material so fien it looked like crystal, yet the boats floated. Arcs on the side wrapped in vines and fine flowers came from the sides arced over the passengers. The bow of each boat was shaped like the head of a beast, though not obviously, only so that if you looked at it for a time you would notice this. Some were swans, while others were dragons. some even shaped as elven women.
<The elven council themselves have come to see the guests off> sounded Argutae's voice in Sandel's head. Sure and so, a much larger boat appeared where twenty elves sat on a highrise. Cloaked in the same fashion as the other elves, though they were colored in bright white that shone in the light of the sun overhead, and they all wore tiaras about their foreheads, each with a different gem.
The song finally ended, fading away like a warm summer breeze that has come and gone, or a rainbow that finally vanishes after the rain, when the ship was gone and the horizon held only the light of shimmering sun casting its gems over the water. The boats slowly pulled away and disappeared. The elves on the coast dispersed into the forest, soon all that were left were the five elves on the dock, and the boy. Sandel turned around to face them, and saw that all of them had lowered their hoods and revealed their faces. The first to greet him was she who wore the cloak of light blue, who ran up to him and wrapped her arms about him.
"Oh Argutae! He's simply adorable! Look at him!" she cried.
"Florinda!" he laughed, "Put the poor boy down, I don't think he's ever been held so high in his life! You're sure to give him a heart attak before we even begin our training!"
"Oh, if ever Didrick and I were to have a child he would look like this!" she said, completely ignoring Argutae.
"Florinda, you shouldn't say such things so publicly!" said the one who wore the red cloak.
The other two laughed.
"He is quit the cute one!" said he who wore green about his shoulders. She called Florinda kissed Sandel's forehead and brought her cheek to his.
"I just want to squeeze him!" she said gleefully.
"Give him to me for goodness sakes!" Argutae said. Now Sandel had the cahnce to look at them all. Argutae's face was like the other elves', sculpted and angled and flawless. His was slender and even though his jaw was thin it still widened to protrude into his pointed ears. Not only that but they're eyes were slanted like the merchents that came to Rouman from the desert. And Florinda. If the four men were flawless, she glowed with radience. Sandel also noticed that the color of their hair matched that of their cloaks, though their hair were unatural colors.
Argutae looked down at Sandel's face, "Allow me to introduce you; this" he turned the child toward the one in green, "is L'Noresto." L'Noresto bowed, spreading his arms and revealing a long bow, decorated in gold ornately shaped like weaving vines.
"Greetings small one!"
"He has trained in the northern region of the wood as a ranger. This" now gestuing toward the one in black, "is my brother Canas."
He bowed, "The pleasure is mine!" he said.
"He was once a member of the clergy, but was expelled for toying with the laws of death and manipulating those who have deceased." he said with a smile. Sandel gripped Argutae's robes .
"This," now pointing to the one in red, "is Didrick, a master of the assasin arts, a vital key to our success up to this point." Didrick waved.
"And finally his wife Florinda. She. like Canas studied with the clergy, unlike Canas, she wasn't kicked out, and was promoted to a seat in the Order of the Eternal Light, the council of the elves in the Western Wood." Florida smiled with feminin charm and waved.
"But I was kicked out of that for joining Argutae's guild," she said, "but it was well worth it."
"Guild?" Sandel asked.
"Didn't your parents tell you? Yes! You'll be staying with our guild," Argutae set him down on the dock and looked into his eyes. Youth, life, and charasima filled his eyes. But in that minute it changed to shock and fear, then back again, though too quickly for the mind of a human to register, even one who is able to see people's souls in their eyes.
"I have a feeling you may be joining us in the future. Come..." he said. The six of them walked a ways into the woods. The elves held out their hands. There were five flashes, and each of them held a wooden horse in their hands. They let go of them, and they floated in the air!
"What are-how did-?" Sandel stuttered, "you don't have real horses here?" The five laughed.
"Of course we do!" Argutae said.
"But animals are our companions, not our slaves!" Florinda said.
"We never risk another creature's life in battle!" Canas said. The other elves looked at him with poison in their gazes.
"Or when they don't want to bear us!" he said quickly, "We don't.... force them to...."
Argutae gave him one more look then addressed Sandel, "Come," he extended his arm and wrapped it around Sandel, lifting him off the ground in one motion, then set him on his horse. Then he and the other elves mounted.
"Hold on!" Argutae said, and they were off, speeding through the forest.
"So Sandel, tell us about yourself!" Argutae said over his shoulder, "Why were you named Sandel?"
Sandel looked down. "Well... my grandfather's name is Mendel.... and... my mother wanted a girl... to name Sandra... but she had me......so..."
"Would Mendel please you more?" he said.
"Well.....I do like it....."
"Then here we shall address you as Mendel! Is everyone alright with that?" he asked the others. They nodded and agreed in delight.
"There! You are now Mendel!" Sandel.... Mendel, smiled.
"Where are we going?" he asked.
"Our home, and the headquarters of my family's guild, The Veiled Glade," Argutae held up his hand which now held a staff, made from wood cut to look like vines weaving together to form a diamond at the top where a large gem sat, it was colored the blue of the sea, but looking at it Mendel saw that it seemed that it changed color, like a swirling mist, or tendrils of like and color in its confines. He raised it above his head and a flash erupted from it. Suddenly where there were trees there was now a cast clearing, with one enormous tree, its roots growing in the shpaes of small buildings with great crystal windows and a great crystal staircase that wound around the tree's trunk itself.
"Mendel, welcome to the headquarters of the Black Fang!" then the elves turned behind them and raised the shields with the black wolves, which glowed as if a great ray of son had come and reflected off of them, sealing the glade from the outside world with mist.
