So this is NOT another thread telling Clerics what to do. It's more of a note to this class and the others, of why clerics do some of the seemingly strange things that we do. Since these are not tips or suggestions there should not be any need for arguing. If you've noticed something that I didn't include, feel free to post it. =]

So...AOE parties

1. Tanks: If you've noticed that your cleric(s) are not healing every time you lose HP, it's because we don't want the heal aggro. The definition of a tank (no not of a fighter, just a tank) is to hold all or most of the aggro so the other party members do not die. If a cleric spam healed you before you AOE'd you would not be able to hold aggro causing damage to the others in your party.

2. Damage Dealers: If your losing HP like crazy, and you see a bar of light fall around you, your cleric(s) are casting Rejuvanate. So just be patient and wait for the heal. Or if you think you will die there are always stones/potions.

Note: When you see clerics using moves like Rejuvate over and over on the same person, they are probably trying to draw the aggression off of said person.

Modification of MiSqWeRtY's question&answer

Q: Why didn't I heal you in an AOE party?
A: If all players are human, and some players are clerics, then clerics are human. We make mistakes just like everyone else. We can't always heal everyone at once, and we can't always keep the whole party alive. Sometimes we have to make sacrifices for the overall benefit of the party. Sometimes I'm the sacrifice, you're the sacrifice, or BillyBobJoe is. If you still don't understand, I would advise making a cleric and seeing how much better you do.

Next....KQ.

For full parties with two or more clerics: Sometimes one cleric will take over the support aspect (usually the lower level) and another will half heal/half fight. This is simply because most KQs are not hectic enough to need two healers throughout the whole thing.

Q: Why don't clerics heal while they're running in Spider and Robo KQ?
A: When everyone is running, clerics have a really hard time healing their parties because everyone is running in different directions and it is of great risk to themselves. Healing others attracts more mobs to us, and if there's a lag spot which there will always be when running, it equals clerical death. So in the running parts of KQ everyone is pretty much on their own.

Note for Mini Dragon KQ: This happens quite often, but if there is only one cleric left when it comes time to fight Mini D, we cannot heal everyone in KQ. So if the cleric ignores you when you ask for a "rez", heal, or buff chances are they're too busy healing to type an apology. Typing=Sudden Death.

Q: Why don't the clerics ressurect me in Mara KQ?
A: Two reasons: 1. Because clerics do not get "Ressurect" until level 20 after they do a certain quest, so not all clerics in Mara KQ can ressurect. 2. Because there are usually 6 others asking for ressurection and the skill has a 30 second cool time.

Juneau's Cleric Notes: These are based on MY habits, and are not necessarily practiced by other clerics. But it can't hurt to put them down:

-Sometimes when I'm soloing in the Abyss or other areas, I will pull a large mob along with me to a safe spot and attack them. Kind-hearted people usually try to attract the mobs away from me, thinking I'm going to die (or not so kind hearted people) I am in fact just trying to claim that the mob is mine. I most likely am not in need of assistance, unless I'm running away from the mob.

- I use "Restore" (periodic HP recovery) more than I use any other skill, so if I don't heal you but put Restore on you, you are not forgotten. I just have my heal skill focused elsewhere and don't think you will die right away.

-Afk clerics don't buff. I'm sorry, there just isn't and 'Auto-buff" button yet. So if the cleric isn't responsive, find a different one :/

Seriously, though, I like this. It's rather obvious information, but more often than not it seems like people (particularly non-clerics) have a hard time figuring out the obvious. I think we could use more simple, straightforward posts like this clarify things.

Hahaha thanks many. I hope this really helps anyone from any class who was confused. I wasn't sure if I should post it in the class arena since it's not really a "Who's better?" thread, but this isn't limited to the cleric section either. If anyone has any clerical questions feel free to ask.

I just realized what restore was for and how i usualy use it now, i use it to heal others who are damaged and not attacked and use my heal for people who are bing damaged at the moment ^^

Restore can cover 3 people during its duration so restore on the 3 main DD and heal on tank is how I do mine.

I remember one time me and a fighter fighting over aggro. He is full end and I am heavy end as well but since he is using 2 hand so I assume he is DD and try to get the aggro on me. He know he can take aggro and make sure his healer is save a all times.

No, it has a 30 seconds cooldown when not empowered.

Frankly saying, 60 second cooldown on revive would be quite painful seeing the time you have before warping after you die, ain´t too long. =|

1. Because last week not only did you KS my nooblet, but you also were rude to me, my friend, my party or guild & are on my do not buff ever list (yes they do exist)
2. Standing in my face pestering me is not a valid way to get my attention, especially when I am afk, or in the middle of a mob, war or conversation.
3. I just didn't feel like doing it.

2. I was healing, unfortunately someone had to die due the fact someone else got greedy and grabbed too many in that mob. Nothing personal, if there is too many grabbed again, I will try to let someone else die instead. I am sorry.

4. Did I mention I was human & it really was an accident? And I am sorry?
5. Cause I was dead. Dead clerics can't heal & nobody kept agro off me or protected me so I could heal you. I would be sorry, but I am dead.

If im healing the runner in robo...im not gonna turn around and heal you way across the room risking the entire KQ jsut cause you don't want to use your pots/stones or your heart to rev yourself (common you have like 10!)

you forgot...my 2 yr old just decided to pull his dresser over in his room and i had to run and check to make sure he didn't have a sever head injury and my party died 'cause of it........sorry about that

as a 4x clank, I survived a mob of 20 gob captains/werebears without assistance. notice, they DO stun...quite often, lol. only took me about 10 minutes to whittle them down.

than they call me a noob 4 not healin every1 an some idoit says his friend could have healed every1 (mayb his build waz waz different no duh) geez some ppl have no respeact 4 clerics an this comin from a fighter :D

Good thread, I'm glad someone finally got around to making one of these, the other classes need to understand that we are not empowered by God to be able heal the whole party at the same time. Just a few notes.

Spider KQ:
First: If you are not in my party, please don't ask for a heal, expecialy in the middle of a mob. My party takes first priority. I will heal you if I think I can manage to keep my party alive at the same time. And it is also very hard to click on you when you are under the mob, so if you need healed and I can run out from the mob so I can click on you.

Second: It is almost impossible to heal/rez/typr/buff/eat while running a mob. So please don't ask.

Other:

Third: Like other people said, we are not perfect. We will hit the wrong buttons, click the wrong person, mistime our skills. So please don't badger us about it.

Fourth: Another thing, sometimes we might have to let one party member die to keep others alive. Don't get upset, we had to make a choice and normaly we will choose the people who have a Blessing of Teva on or the tank.

Last: Sometimes we have to let the whole party die and run away from a mob. (Mostly, I will only do this when we are really far away from the respawn point.) We can rez you, you can't rez us, simple as that. And also, we are not all selfless, good-hearted people, and no one wants to die.

I can't handle an entire guild of 20+ 7x and 8x people attacking me...even WITH a cookie.

I would show the screen shot of the mass of red names around me attacking me but then i would get called a black lister or something.

It WAS funny tho that they took like 10 min to kill me even WITH the entire guild attacking me.

I know that this is supposed to be a Q & A on why we do what we do as clerics, but I do need to send out some props to other players. I like to think of them as the cleric friendly ones. Those people that start off pulling smaller mobs, and sees what their party cleric can handle in terms of healing. These are AWESOME people to party with. And usually are the type of person who also recognizes when they made the "oops" moment and apologizes. Those players who see they are in a full party (usually AOE) and they have only 1 cleric & say they will heal themselves. I do try to heal them if I can, but knowing that others are also willing to help me is AWESOME!!! As a party we are a team! Helps so much when you have the support of your team mates!

& I will phrase this other one as a question.......... lol

Again DEAD CLERICS DON'T HEAL! :D Actually I am not accused of being bossy, but thought that may be helpful suggestion to other clerics. The real trick of this is asking REALLY nice. ;) If your party doesn't want to listen or help you; go eat supper, do that chore you have been procrastinating at doing, make sure your son's dresser is standing upright in his bedroom, go play with your cat or whatever else seems more interesting now. (My supper is usually waiting for me, cold mind you, but it's always there when I need it. ;) )
