I am currently in the state of downloading this interesting game but in the mean time I was wondering if someone could be so kind as to explain a few things for me:
Such as What are the different classes? and their basic functions?
Suggestions on what to do just starting out.
Anyone have any overall things tro do and not do?
Please any information would be helpful especially on the classes..... I am not sure whatI wanna be or how to go about beingit (I was looking at a cleric, Rogue, or an archer but again noclue as to who does what)

Basic Rundown:
Squire
This is your melee class that has uber defense. They go in, take all the monsters upon them selves, then kill them.
Neophyte
This is the Thieves class. They are also a melee class, but they have less defense, and more dodge. The key is to not get hit with this class. They attack very fast and do decent damage.
Acolyte
This is your healing class. They buff other people and themselves so they can hit harder, and take less damage. Everyone says they are weak when they come to killing, but don't believe them. Once they get Oblivion and Ghost Steal, they are tough.
Apprentice
My personal favorite. These guys are your Magicians. They have low HP and defense, but they make up for it with their damage. They hit they hardest in the game. They take some patience, but are really worth it when you get them to the 2nd class tier, Mage.
Scout
This is your Bow and Arrow class. They are a mixture of Neo and App. They attack from long distance, and attack fast. Most people say they are overpowered. I agree. It is the most popular class it seems like as of now.
Disciple
These guys are the heal/melee class. They are a mixture of Squire and Aco. They can self buff and self heal, though the heal isn't as great. Some people say they suck out all the experience when you party, but that isn't true.
Both the Scout and Disc classes, you change at lvl 45. Scouts are Neophytes till lvl 45, and Disc are Acos. They change again at lvl 80.
All the rest change at lvl 66, then again at lvl 96.
These are the job changes:
Squire ---> Knight ---> Warrior ---> War Lord
Acolyte ---> Cleric ---> Priest ---> Paladin
Apprentice ---> Mage ---> Wizard ---> Arch Mage
Neophyte ---> Rogue ---> Assassin ---> Shadow Master
Scout ---> Archer ---> Ranger
Disciple ---> Templar ---> Holy Avenger

thank you for the reply that is exactly what I wanted to know, question tho how does one advance through the different tiers? Just by level exp gain?

Nope, you talk to Reinmoth/Reliath to initiate the quest and hand over the items she asks for.
And I have to laugh when someone says the Assist Heal sucks, or isn't great. Remove Enhance for Rogues and above, or take away Magic Shield for mage and above and tell me they operate well after having a fundamental skill.
AH allows the Disc to never sit unlike other classes, let alone increases your survival rate since you gain back health over time. Only a few skills can mess with it if that's someone talks about. The Disciple is an addition to a group, not a replacement for the Acolyte/Cleric/Priest unless Pollutance's class suddenly learnt to buff or Revive folks. ^_^' >_>
Basic tips:
- Don't buy super defense-gear until you get around your class' AoE level. You have little to no use for that. (Low ap works if you can get them cheap, avoid enhancing gear beyond 1+ until level 60+ preferably.)
- Upgrade skills when you can afford, prioritise level 1 skills since you only use those, not higher ones for training.(Buffs should be highest possible level though, stuns varies depending on where you grind)

You also change to your first tier after Xenian at lvl 16. Then you talk to Reinmoth/Reliath to change to your chosen class.
AoE (Area of Effect) is a skill which hits multiple opponents. The first non damage AoE skill in the game I believe is Accuracy which is a lvl 26 Neo skill. It increases your chance of a critical. The first damage AoE skill is Reflection which is a lvl 46 Squire Skill. That is AoE for ya.

Reflection is level 51, but Deoxys is otherwise right. ^^
Advancing through the tiers is all level-related. Disciple and Scout are exceptions (accessible at level 45), but your second class change for all trees comes at level 66.

Ah whoops, my bad. Yeah, lvl 51 is the first damage AoE.
