Just something I was wondering...

Whenever someone makes a post that has been made before (but isn't like on the first couple pages, you know), they get yelled at (at some point) to use the search bar to find what they want to know before posting.

Okay, so say someone DOES use the search bar, finds a post relating to their query, posts an additional question on the subject or something or thanks people for giving the information, and then gets yelled at for "necroing" and the thread gets closed.

What defines a 'necro thread'? An old thread that someone happens to post on, or an old thread someone posts something OFF-TOPIC on?

Necro'ing a thread generally means that the user has posted in a thread that has not been active for 2 weeks or more. Generally, they have become inactive because the question(s) have been answered. We say for users to take advantage of the search bar in finding and answer...but if they don't find an answer...or they have an additional quesiton they can either:

a. keep searching
b. PM the thread creator or the person who answered the question
c. Make a new, relevant topic that hasn't been addressed.
