what was the problem with the rep bars?

when i didnt know people in here it was the best indicator of who knew what they were talking about.

why the sudden change?

This has been answered in a few other threads but basically there was so much abuse in the rep system that it was easier just to take it out.

Its not always an indicator of people who know what they are talking about as there were users out there who were just repping their friends. Now if you'd like to leave someone a comment you can either do so in the thread or via PM :)

yeah some crybabies thought it was being "abused"....whatever....Anyway this is old news, you gotta pay better attention. Also i might be wrong but they did re-order the forums changed the rules for where stuff goes. As this pertains to the forums, and not to anything general about SoS i believe its in the wrong spot.
I could always be wrong though.
-rep for rep system removal.

yeah its totally sucky and most of us hate it. But to be fair it might just be because we are so used to the old way of how things worked you know?

dude you dont have to tell me, i had like 6 bars i was a splendid one to behold.
Now theres no way to tell whos advice is crap and whos advice is good. All you can do it look at post counts cause usually trolls dont last very long around here.

If some one has anywhere from like 500-1000 posts odds are their advice is ok. Also looking at join dates can tell you how long some ones been around for. Post count+join date=50% chance of being able to tell how good the advice is. Then that scrues over people who are newer with less posts who might have just as good advice.

Like i said before this crybaby rep removal is crap.

There are some people that may have below 200 posts and provide us players a really big help. You can't just judge a person by the number of post they've made, it's the content they write in their post what you should be looking at. Those with older joinned dates does not just mean they're the only pros around here with a 50% change of being 'good'. They may have SOME experience... But can't experience with everything, can they? There might be some players around 5 months old or completely new and they've observed a lot, lurked a lot of threads and viewed many ideas or upcoming things... They might know more than those older players. I'd give each senior player and a newbie posting content 60%-70% credit of knowing what goes around here.

I think removing the reputation system is good choice. Not only do people abuse +ing or -ing rep, but those who gain those rep points show it off to others and might make them feel bad; That's a little lame. ._.

The new forums is really organized with different categories. But looks as if there is a little more content then before which can get confusing.. @_@'

well i guess he is saying that now that they took out rep bars, join date+post count are the only indicators we now have to know about a person's credibility, etc etc

anyways, about this new forum set up i think they should have organized the marketplace into class subsections and one misc. section so that its not full of new threads all the time

If that was what he ment.. O_o Nvm about mah post. xD

I wish there was a specific title we must use for the market place... Some are just really hard to read or understand. ._. The seller might set their thread title to, "Sell Yellow kitty". And I think... "Oh, okay. So he's selling a kitty. O: -clicks and looks-" Then find out they want someone to sell a yellow kitty to them. ._.
A better way is something like.. "B (buying)> Yellow kitty," that'd be more understandable. D;
idk.. Just a thought.
