THANK YOU!!!

I've received many of these random buffs, and I always feel grateful.

But you guys always run off before I can thank you properly. So here it is: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

I agree its really cool. There was a high lvl cleric buffing everyone just outside roumen. Lol can you imagine beeing a lvl 1 mage and suddenly having 500 hp ^_^ it must really help.

Thank you

I must strongly disagree with that, sorry.

It must really help the player level quickly without having any clue how fragile he is, or what use stones are for.

Then, once he gets level 12 and the buffs runs out, he keeps dying over and over fighting the 1st [what, imp at that point?] he sees.

Then we get another player that has no idea how to play his character, as an important piece of that learning is in the first 20 levels, and who must rely on buffs to survive [hence all the 'buff pls' as they can't play without buffs].

I do have fun buffing randomly, but I try to buff on grinding maps [instead of cities] and away from Roumen/ForestOfTides.

Yeah i thought about that too but there are a lot of people that make an alt too.

To the newbies it must be highly confusing, but they are god for an hour which i think is really funny. If i started of a new character i would be very happy with a buff like that. As long as they dont get chain-buffed i think its fine.

I know when I started my mage alt I got buffed while I was about level 2 I think [very low at least :) ].

"Cool!" I thought and started doing my quests with this high HP and everything [and yes as I knew about stones it was not a problem on that side :)]

Got a surprise when the buff ran out however, after I gained several levels.

I was much more fragile than I remembered my main to have been at that level. I realised that I had no 'feeling' on how to play my mage [I was playing it as a cleric, close fighting, it was working very fine...], and I was lucky that this was an alt as it was not hard to guess what a mage should be doing [like instead of staying close to the monster, maybe ranged attack is better, etc].

But that was learned through trial and error, that is by dieing [or being close to it...], which I think is true for most players.

Once i realised that, I decided that buffing newbies, while fun, might not be helping them a lot in the long run. Hence why I personnally don't...

despite having been a noob when I got my first buffs, i gauged how hard I hit in comparison to how hard "they" hit and was able to balance myself. initially a mage, not used to ranged fighting, and seeing no point to <auto-hitting> right off the bat, I didn't have much issue. Now that I've played some close-range characters (low fighter, high cleric), I see the reasoning behind staying back and more accurately gauging my dmg, def, etc. I closely monitor my health, and despite being a cleric (more often than not), I have little issue zipping through the game, both in mobs and cash influx. I do occaisionally ask for buffs (as I can't give them yet) but they aren't necessary, as I produce t2 scrolls (for sales, lol) and purchase t3s for the time being. also a stones crafter =D almost to t3s. Currently using +8 ham/shield and having little difficulty, even with area bosses and next-area mobs, other than healing every 3rd-4th (gob camp) to every other round of combat (area bosses). perhaps when i get to 6x or higher, I'll see a difference, but I find it unlikely. For now, I need to finish out my licenses. Toodles!

I like doing ninja buff in the field, you don't even know what hit you. However I always like to buff people in some criteria:

1. the person is using scroll already.
- if the person is using scroll they know how to use the auto buff already so they do not need to depend on cleric buff

2. the person is fighting monster without a buff
- the person is confidence to leave town without one and believe can survive killing the monster, it is just a little help to help them have a smoother day.

3. the person is solo fighting a mob boss
- well brave little soul, come out of hiding and full support periordic heal and invince without stealing the aggro.

That's what i usually does...

I don't think giving buff to low lvl like 1-10 buff is good.

This is the time for them to know their limits and learn to play the game.

If they are too used to having a buff for anything (quests,kq,grinding), it
will make them dependent on it.

It will be like taking drugs...addictive.

As i have been playing alt, i always wanted a buff before i do anything and
that is bad...

I try to depend on my own hp/sp and still, i get tempted to ask for buff..

So if you are a good cleric, help the newbies by not giving them buff in towns.

Help those who are already grinding in the fields and they are the real heroes
who need help cos they take the first step to stand on their own.

Mine is similar... be on a map and fight monsters... when I pass by I usually try to buff (keyword here is fight :))

I remember being a level 5ish and I kept getting buffs. I didn't know what happened and thought it was because you get more HP when you gain a level. When I finally died my HP went back to a low number and thought that in order to get a higher HP I have to gain more levels. It turns out this was from people buffing me. I agree that buffing can be great (especially to newbies) but it's still confusing to the newbies. Since there isn't a tutorial that explains EVERYTHING in detail (but there are the forums) it'll confuse someone a newbie and give them false hope.

Maybe I'm just really dense and don't understand things as quickly.

:D well the hope is there, just gian more level and put more END you get the higher HP.

Even better if your class is cleric, you get to buff yourself.
