View Full Version : Spamming the Message Board

I don't know how everyone feels about this....but recently it seems that people have been spamming things like lvlgold.com and other sites that help people profit and break countless Fiesta user agreement regulations. I'm personally getting sick of it. When I type something into the message board I would like to see it without it getting wiped by the countless spammers logged in. I would appreciate it if these people were banned for doing something that breaks regulations.

They DO get banned when the GM sees it. However GM's can't be everywhere all the time.
There's also at least 20 other threads about gold spammers. GM Break has posted a solution IS being worked on.

Oi vey...
Like ASCIIrider said they do get banned. Not I.P. banned, sadly.

While I.P. ban would be great its very easy to mask or change I.P. so its still only temporary.

How are you going to ban their IP if they have DHCP? (and they probably do).
And even if they don't it is really easy to change your IP address as long as it is not static with the ISP.
Eventually you will wind up with a whole block of IP addresses that are banned.
Give it up already. let the GMs deal with it.
Put more effort into getting Outspark to add the ignore feature because they obviously can't kick the spammers fast enough to keep them out.
Just my opinion.

I don't know how they ban, but banning via IP and also removing their account and all privileges would be nice. They could also just close the current Beta off to those who join without recommendations from other users/administrators. I mean I know that's difficult but, it would be helpful.

Hardware ban would be perfect. Granted I only know of a few systems that use it (evenbalance.com for example).
or ban all of .cn
Either way, I'd be happy.

I would also like to point out that there is a difference between spamming for gold versus those of us that advertise in-game for in-game wares such as "rustic's Amazing Vitality Scrolls only 100c" which you see a lot in Elderine.
According to an unnamed GM that is excusable provided you don't fill up the chat box with just you.
The gold farmers are flagrant violators of the TOS for Fiesta as well as anyone attempting to sell an item in game for real world currency.
Let's be sure we all realize the in's and out's of this before we start flaming honest, but sometimes annoying vendors.
That last part being a direct statement regarding my own in game activities.

You can't just blame the gold bot spammers, you also have to blame the buyers, because without them there would not be a market for the gold sellers, so we would not have the gold bots and as we have the gold bots, that means that some people are buying the silver from them. If you know someone that has been buying from them, don't be shy step forward and tell us their names.;)
