The prizes for designing the avatar could have been more better. You only get a chance to design an avatar once in a year or something, and all you get is regular MVP badge for 1 week lol. I doubt many creative designers would get to work on it

Exp Boost card? Where did you get that from?
An Exp Boost card is not one of the prizes.
Not only will the 1st place winner get a permanent MVP Badge, their winning Avatar will be added into the list of Avatars here at Outspark for more variety for the community to use. The 4 runner ups will also get their avatars put in (To add a bit more variety instead of just having one new avatar), but they will not get a MVP Badge.
Remember, this is a Forum Contest. Things won't always have prizes you can use in-game. This is just supposed to be something fun for the people to do while on the forums.

Silly nub.
Are we going to have any events that don't include being skilled with a pencil or photoshop? :cool:

Possibly, we'll just have to see what the CM's have in store for us. XD They want to have quite a variety of fun things for people to participate in.

My apologies X_x.
This is what happens when you're reading over too many MVP layouts, lol.
It's not permanent apparently, so please disregard my previous post.

But why would all the others be permanent and this one only be for one week?
If all the other MVP events gave permanent badges I don't know why this one should be any different

I can see why they would be different.
The forums are under new management - The CMs. It's rather simple really.

Meh, its just a little thing to do outside of the games, and somewhat helps the community at large.
I did notice something wrong with the submission guidelines though.
It doesnt mention what file format the submissions have to be in (jpg, gif, png, etc.).

Chances are it doesn't matter but common sense is:
Avatar = GIF

The events currently list the forum MVP badge reward as only lasting a week, but that's still under discussion. At this point, the badges will be permanent, with some other cool badge-related features coming down the pipe.
In terms of possible additional prizes, what are most valuable and interesting to you?
Permanent items? Which ones?
Other recognition on the forums?
Let us know, and we'll incorporate your feedback into future Forum MVP events.

Then itīs funny how out of all the current avatars, only Bread 'n Butter avatars are GIF format. >.>

Why gif? I would think that you would use PNG since GIF is for animated, no? Ah, I'm confused now :S lol

Thereīs no need to use PNG unless itīs on transparent background tho.. .__.;
As far as I checked most avatars they have now, are JPEG.

Ah true true kraehe, I've just been doing so much drawing on transparent backgrounds that it's become a habit to save them as PNG hehe :)

Well, the file type kinda does make a difference
JPG = Straight up picture
PNG = Picture w/ transparent background
GIF = Animation
And I'm not sure, but all the avatars of the posters on this page have JPG only.

so why does GIF = animation? I have known that it is for years and always thought like "oh its a little gift ^,-". So why GIF and not AnI or AMN?

I hope that the forum MVP badge would stay as permanent. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk127/xintiandi2008/24.gif
One of the things that I valued is recognition on the forums. No matter what, I'm sure that everyone would be happy to feel some form appreciation for the things they work hard to offer or to do.
The forum badge is worth it because it is lustrous and distinctive. <-- Main motivation factor http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk127/xintiandi2008/38.gif

so why does GIF = animation? I have known that it is for years and always thought like "oh its a little gift ^,-". So why GIF and not AnI or AMN?
because .GIF is the name of the file extension that can be used to create small animations and graphics for display over the web.
GIFs are not always used just for animations. A GIF's advantage is that when you have a graphic that has a small number of colors, a GIF is the best way to display those graphics on a webpage. A GIF can only display 256 colors, while JPEGs and PNGs can display millions. Web designers use GIF files to cut down on load and caching time of webpages.
Once you exceed the 256 color range for a GIF it no longer becomes effective at displaying images and the filesize increases exponentially.
