View Full Version : Level 87 Quest - Light Pillar Sample

Quest: Light and Shadow Song 2
Quest NPC: Town Chief Adrien - Uruga

Quest summary: From what i've read, you need to obtain a fragment of the Pillar of Light in Burning Rock (located at F-1). The pillar itself acts like an NPC in that it is clickable, and a dialogue box appears with some gibberish symbols.

I've tried the following:

1. Attacking the pillar with an AOE (Inferno, FrostNova, Magic Burst) to no avail.
2. I've tried luring the Giant Magmaton (Chief Monster) next to it to see if he would break it like the Stone Golem in Gordon Master KQ. No result.
3. I've killed the Giant Magmaton next to the pillar to see if the item would appear as the result of a drop. No success.
4. I've danced next to the pillar.
5. I've sat for a few minutes next to the pillar.

6. I've rubbed the pillar like a genie's lamp

7. I've tried to seduce the Pillar.

8. I've stood directly inside the Pillar hoping for a Star Trek-like beam up.

**Disclaimer: I know that this has been reported before, and YES i did do a search before posting like any good forum-goer, but i have yet to see any response from Staff about it. Is it truly a bug or is it a riddle that nobody has yet figured out?

Remembering the quest dialogue from all the NPCs prior to this point, Curly mentioned hearing The Song from a beautiful woman while Vallon (?, the guy standing next to Curly in Uruga) said he heard the song from a little girl.

oooh.... perhaps since my singing voice is so terrible, i could crack the shard and then scoop up all the pieces! brilliant! lol...

It would be cool if this was a riddle that had to be solved...but no this is a bug!
Singing to it wont help neither jumping, dancing, be angry or crying.
I even brought the magmaton boss and killed it infront of the pilar but that didnt do it either......lol

that quest has been bugged since BR was opened, i wonder if its that hard that takes almost 6 months to be fixed, or they just dont care =) ..ha! i bet the answer is there already

So...can you click each light pillar there and have each seperate light pillar respond like an npc, or is it just one of em that responds?

Ok ok. So if it is possible for you to click on each light pillar and have each on of them respond--then could the response that it gives you be a pattern to click the light pillars. Like its a clue of which ones to interact with in a certain order.

Only one of them is clickable.

If anyone's gone back there recently, it's now "............."

That makes me think. If the people who fix that stuff did that, why didn't they "fix" it? I, personally, think the quest is working, we just haven't been able to figure out what to do. Does anyone have screenshots of all the text dialogs you had to read? I skipped them, like most of us did, I'm sure, but I wish I had read them now.

I got part 1 at Lvl87, from the NPC in Uruga, and completed it yesterday.
I just went back to the pillar and clicked it. I got "Part 2 completed but conditions not met". I still have the Pillar Quest but now the NPC does not have the quest for me. Apparently part 2 DID NOT COMPLETE because I was not given another small pouch to put the pieces in (and as a result I did not get the quest reward or part 3).

As for them fixing it don't hold your breath lol.
Several of the quest descriptions, and monster names in it, are STILL from the Beta days.

What happened to me is different to what was posted by others but I just got part 3 from Elbama in Elderine.
He gave me a pouch and now it wants to complete part 2 again.
Hopefully now I can complete all of it as I am sick to death of killing JT.

After returning to the Pillar clicking it did nothing. Acting upon advice from others I gave up part 2 and 3. I lost part 2, getting no reward for it, but was able to get part 3 again, from Elbama in Elderine, and continue the quests.

NOTE: Before you get to the Pillars look at them. You will notice 1 on the right has the Q above it so you don't have to click all of them.
