I thought the movie was pretty great. I saw the midnight showing and I just got home from it actually :)

Summary of what I liked and didn't like:

Pros:
- Love the songs they played in the movie
- The majority of the actors did awesome in the movie. They played their characters amazingly well. I laughed so hard when Alice hugged Bella and said "Oh wow you do smell good". Jasper made me laugh so hard!
- My favorite scene in the movie had to be the baseball scene. It is exactly how I imagined it when I read the book.
- The scenery was splendid! I would love to go to the woods where they filmed. And the Cullen house was fantastic! Kudos for the graduation hat art hahaha
- I also loved how they had the author of the book in one little scene... sneaky sneaky ;)
- I really liked how they depicted how much pain Edward was feeling every time Belle was near.

Cons:
- I wish they had more scenes with the Cullen family. I think that they were fantastic in the twilight book, especially the mother.
- Eerrr... the kissing scenes?... >.> I didn't think it should have been that intense.
- The beginning of the movie was kinda dragging a little bit

Overall, I liked it a lot ;) It was a good movie. And it was a great book!

Gosh darnit, I was hoping I would be first to post a thread about it. Just got home from the midnight showing. I think it was a good movie, and they did a fairly decent job of following the book's plot, though some of the details could have been better (i.e. the Cullen's house...grrr)

Hey man, don't be ashamed if you are a guy who appreciates good literature.

=P Hahahah

The most annoying thing is that the only thing the girls go on about is Edward Cullen and about how fantastic he is...not the actual book! xD And then they expect us to live up to a fictional character...I think not! =P
There's probably gonna be a group of around 20 people from my year in school all storming the cinema the night it comes out! =D Hahaha

Hahaha nice

What did you think about the whole James/Victoria scenes they had? I was kinda confused why they came in so early in the movie. I thought they started attacking AFTER they were introduced in the baseball scene

Hated the book. 9/10's of it was romantic b/s. The others don't get any better. Worst part is I live in Utah, and live only like 20 miles from the author's home, so of course the only thing girls talk about here is Twilight.

To be honest, I never read the books. But my friend and I both dragged our boyfriends to the midnight showing. In my opinion it was poorly acted and a bit on the cheesy side. There were moments that were interesting...but it seemed like a b-list type movie.

Makeup for the Cullen family was painstakingly obvious, the acting itself was so over dramatic it felt fake, and I'm sorry but since when did vampires glitter (I realize this was part of the book but it goes against pretty much anything ever written about vampires)?? As a vampire enthusiast I was disappointed, my friend (who has read the books), said there were so many mistakes and differences that she felt they should have just given it a different name.

It was alright, it did have a fantastic soundtrack...but its not something I'm going to see twice.

That was kind of the point. These vampires are like nothing else we are used to. They go out in the daytime, they live like normal people. They are unaffected by all forms of traditional vampire wards.

Glitter aside (personally, I think its to attract those of us who are amused by shiny objects-easy prey ;P) I still didn't think very much of it. I thought that it had potential...but it probably would have done better under a different director.

I liked the location, it was beautiful. I liked the soundtrack, I plan on getting it. Would I buy the movie? No, probably not. I would be willing to read the books for the simple curiosity of discovering what was changed and what wasn't. I will admit that given the people that surround me I'm a bit harsh on movies. My brother in law makes short films, and does the camera work for the IIHS (the crash tests you see on TV). He tends to point out every flaw that ever existed in a movie (editing mistakes, when the boom is in the shot, people that randomly appear in the background that aren't supposed to be there...)...so I tend to look for them.

Well yea, can you imagine how much more deadly Lestat would be if he glittered? As if they need anything to make it any easier to catch us.

But the glitter was actually kind of lame, gotta agree. In the book, it is described as his skin kind of turning into a prism, and the light being reflected and refracted into rainbows of color.

Did someone say Glitter? o.o Shinnneey.

<.<

Vampires should not glitter unless they are into Arts and Crafts in their spare time. XD

Which Lestat are we talking here? Because if it was Anne Rice's Lestat...yeah...he was deadly enough. If we're talking the 're-make' movie version Queen of the Damned (Which yes, I still liked..although Interview with the Vampire was better on many many more levels) he was shiny...granted it was part of his 'rock vampire' costume...but he was shiny. Vampires should never wear pleather....

I honestly don't understand the huge fuss about the book or the movie. I read the book (before it was strangely popular) because it sounded like a vampire story, and I like vampires. All in all, I thought the book was good, but not that good. (I don't know anything about the rest of the series; I had to put down Book 2 before the ANGST made me physically ill.) As far as the movie goes, I won't be paying to see it -- whenever I watch the trailer, I laugh uncontrollably, and I half-expect the Joker to come scurrying out and ask them, "Why so serious?"

Haha I know a lot of people say this but "the book was better". xD

It really is true. But I actually thought the movie was really good. Like as far as "sticking to the book" goes. There were scenes that weren't in the book and vice-versa but still. It was awesome. And oh GOD. The ENDING. Best ending ever!

The book is always better IMO. I dont care how good a movie is, it never parallels the book. The closest I've seen something come to equal is 300 and Sin City and the soon to be The Watchmen. I think Zack Snyder needs to direct all book to film movies, and Frank Miller needs to create the storyboards.

Pssh...as if I would talk about the movie version of Lestat.

I'm unsure of whether or not I'm going to see the movie, after seeing what happened when they made Eragon into a movie. [They even left out the werecat!] But seeing as I've read the whole Twilight series I would have to say.....Jacob Rawks. 8D

The movie I shall see sometime this week. Hopefully I'll feel better by then.

You and I are doing it in opposite order...I went to the movie first...now I'm going to read the books. I'm usually more impressed by books.
