This Thread is dedicated to ideas and thoughts concerning, Scions of Zodiac, a new guild in the making. So no spam please.

Ok- This is going to be where the guild images will be placed. Our candidates for forum logo, and ign emblem.

It will have a lvl req of 60+ for all classes, however certain long standing & and new members of SA will be exempt from this and therfore it will not affect your chances of getting in.

The Gm of SZ will be either Hades or Ricky.

The Gm of SA will be ME! (i have confirmed this)

Also as for guild events, tha ones remaining after my trials, etc. I'm thinkin we should hold joint Guild Events between both branches, it would also keep tha guild better in touch with each other, communicate better, tho jus a thought, let me know what u think. Beacause its jus a quick idea i won't expand too much on it yet.

LOL yah that would be a good idea shanks.since we have been talking about that in some of the meetings weve had. Guild trials as well as events should take place for both guilds just so that we can involve ourselves but also get to know the new players we might have in the future. This way our ties with the SA and SZ will be closely intertwined.i cant wait till we get all of this sorted out and form our guild ^^ it will take time but i will look forward to the day SZ will make its debut

Breakdown of Scions of Zodiac
Anyway, Scions of Zodiac. The term "Zodiac", as most people already know, is a term relating to that of astrology, the study of the positions of celestial bodies in the belief that their movements either directly influence life on Earth or correspond somehow to events experienced on a human scale. Basically, the term Zodiac refers to any number of things related to astrology, such as the stars, the galaxy, the universe, the heavens, celestial bodies, etc. Of course, the word Zodiac itself has a number of many different meanings. One is a "circle of animals" hence the Chinese Zodiac. A second meaning is that of life. The third meaning however, which for our purposes is the definition that we will use, refers to constellations and the movements or paths of astological bodies (i.e. planets, stars, etc). The term "Scion" means descendant or heir, much like a son or daughter, but could also be interpreted as a guardian of a great inheritance or fortune. Thus, using the third definition of Zodiac that was mentioned earlier and combining it with Scion-the name Scions of Zodiac-in its most simplest form, means "Heirs to the heavens", "Descendants of celestial beings", something along those lines.

Interpretations of Scions of Zodiac
Taking the name into much deeper terms, Scions of Zodiac, or "Descendants of celestial beings", would imply a sense of power and purity. Celestial beings obtain their power from the single most purest power source known to man-the heavens themselves. Thus, being a descendant of celestial beings would imply that our ancestors were celestial beings-most powerful beings to have ever lived, that we descended from these beings and inherited their power, thus we would be entities of undeniable strength and unimaginable power. In this sense, we would be strong, powerful leaders, a force to be reckoned with, that kind of thing. Basically, Scions of Zodiac is merely a name signifying great power and strength.

Another interpretation of Scions of Zodiac was "Heirs to the heavens". This means that we are descendants of celestial beings and we are to inherit all the fortunes and treasures of the heavens. In which case, we would be guardians or protectors of Something like that anyway. In this interpretation, we, as Scions of Zodiac are guardians of great power who protect the greatest fortune imaginable, the heavens and all its treasures, a realm that is nothing more than an ideal utopia or paradise.

After reading the ways Scions of Zodiac can be interpreted, you're probably wondering what it all means in terms of a guild setting. OK guys. After some suggestions and my own tweaking, this is what I came up with. And yes, I know there is still some yellow, which means its not 100% so please don't state the obvious. Its very tedious doing this.

Changes: I got rid of the knights helm, because I felt it gave too much distinction or opinion about the guild. Plus it sort of unbalances the theme towards good with having angel wings AND a knights helm. I think a demon sword and angel wings is enough. Because I think were are trying to be mysterious. Anywho, this is a guild of duality, or balance of good and evil. So instead a placed a glowing globe, or a sort of star, in its place. Plus it allowed room for text....

I also made the whole back of the shield a sort of space/star background, since it now it will show up more readily (I hope) when shrunk.

I tossed in the evil/demon sword in contrast to the angel wings. Again a duality of good/evil.

Ok what do you all think. Old and New comparison.

okay..well..first of all...the post I made regarding the Scions of Zodiac description was missing information if you can believe that. The one here should be a new updated version with more information. But considering I wrote this while still in "Diru Frenzy"..Odds are..I still missed some information. Anyway..yeah..have fun editting the descriptions magiik XDDD

Wow...I'm impressed lol. The new pic looks awesome. I really like the demon sword though it's kinda odd that the sword would be shorter than the shield..but I dunno...Maybe I'm just being too picky in regards to the guild emblem lol. The moon on top of the shield also seems kinda random. I mean..yeah, it's a celestial body and with the theme of Scions of Zodiac being what it is, the moon would make sense but I dunno..it just seems out of place on top of the shield. But like I said...It's prolly just me being picky and too uptight over small details. It looks great Magiik. Awesome job on the guild emblem

urk...wow...my ridiculously long post on the guild name description's been reduced to like..three sentences O.o Well..if it's too long that I apologize..I never was one to be brief and concise when I'm writing something with the mindset that what I'm writing is on par with a formal paper x.x Anyway...I'll try to figure out some way to shorten the thing down, but I'd rather retain most of the information about the description rather than just summarizing all of it in like..one or two sentences. And like I said, there's a basic understanding of it, and then there's the deeper meaning behind the name which led us to choose the name for the guild. If members find the entire thing too long, they can just read the basic interpretation of the name and leave it at that. Otherwise, I'd rather keep most of the description intact. Of course, I'll go over it again tomorrow during Ethics class and see if I can shorten it a little so it's easier on the eyes >.>

No, I'm thinking the guild rankings will be something a little more creative. Not sure what yet, but we have some time before we have to worry about it. Our first concern is getting the money to create the guild first lol. I'm thinking that all the members who are moving to the new guild contribute to the funds. let's see...Hope, Ricky, Hades, Shankman (alt), Jouai/Sochi (alt), Magiik, Tiddy, and myself are all moving to the new guild right? Did I forget someone? Sorry if I did, but if these nine people are going to move into the new guild, then we can divide the cost by about 1/10 per person. Each of us will contribute 1.1 million kron for the creation of the guild. And someone can just volunteer to donate the other 100k. I'm thinking that's the fairest way to go about the creation of the guild but if people disagree with it, then I'm sure something else can be arranged.

Well, there's at least nine of us who are for sure being transferred into the new guild. After that, I think we can just shout that we're recruiting to get the first wave of members. Later on, we can put them through the guild trials and see if we need to remove people.

Ok so i just now randomly stumbled upon this thread haha. So as you know i technically attended the meeting but i wasnt at the meeting. Lets just say that i was riding on Magiiks shoulders lol. My point is that because of this i got all secondhand information, though Magiik did a very good job at filling me in. From what i got out of the info i thought that someone mentioned not having a rank system at all in SZ or having it divided down the middle, as in you either have no power or all of it...can someone make this more clear? Or was that just a thrown out idea and things are still pretty much unsettled?

If the case is that we arent going to have a guild ranking system ill have to do my best to argue against it. In my mind a ranking system adds structure, something to aspire to, a reward for service and commitment, plus its something that can be a lot of fun. It also removes potential risky noob behavior such as changing ranks around or stealing and selling storage items for personal gain. Not that we shouldnt trust people but still...

As for a ranking system consider this. In western astrology there are 4 signs that are called mutable signs or "Double-Bodied". These are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces. These signs are equated with change and versatility. They are right on the cusp of a seasonal change and so have 2 distinct sides. These could make either 4 catagories in which 6 members are placed into each, including a leader. The GL is seperate and controls them all. Unless that seems too individualized. If thats the case then the ranks could involve synonyms to the word Scion i suppose, such as heir, descendent, successor, progeny or even guardian if you look at it that way.

whoops..I forgot...I thought you were at the meeting but you came in like..just before we closed it >.< That means you missed the part where it was asked who wanted to be transferred and who wanted to stay. Well, considering that SA is going to be a lower-class guild in the sense that it will have lower-level people in it, then it prolly would be better for you to move to SZ anyway lol. If you want to go to the new guild, I'm okay with it. You'll prolly have to ask the other GMs but I don't see any reason for them to refuse your membership so you should be set.

Shhh! Ricky! Don't tell people that you're willing to pay more for the construction of the guild! X.x I think it's only fair that the people who want to move to the new guild contribute to the guild's formation fairly and equally, so if there are ten people who are gonna be transferred, then each of those ten will pay 1 million kron as their entrance fee in. Sell a xen if you have to lol but I think it's only fair if everyone made an equal contribution in terms of funds. But like I said, if you'd rather just have people volunteer to pay everything, then that's okay too.

Urk....well tiddy, we kinda...ignored...that....topic..lol. We had spent at least two hours in the meeting already and it just seemed like the right time to close it since we got a lot of work done and it was getting really late, so we didn't really cover the guild rankings all that much. We did cover all the important stuff that was vital to the new guild's creation, so we figured we'd worry about the guild rankings on a later date, like when we actually created the guild lol. but...if you want to start that discussion up again..well...here's what was proposed:

1) Make the guild rankings according to the actual signs of the Zodiac.
Comments: Well...if I remember correctly there are only ten guild rankings so this idea is pretty much already out the window with their being twelve signs and ten rankings. Of course, if you still want to use the actual signs of the Zodiac for the rankings, consider this: Would our guild still be creative and unique if we just used the Zodiac signs for guild rankings? The purpose of Scions of Zodiac was to create a guild that was new and different-a guild that stood out from the rest. If we used the Zodiac signs for guild ranking names, I'd think we'd kinda lose that aspect of uniqueness, if that makes sense. Basically, I feel that we should come up with guild rankings that impose a much greater meaning than simply the Zodiac signs. Of course, this is just my opinion.

2) Kill the guild rankings completely/make every ranking equal in power with the exception of the Guild Masters
Comments: Well...this would..definitely make our job easier as GMs lol. But you're right. Guild rankings provide a sense of structure and organization and it gives new members motivation to rise up to through the ranks. This is just mere speculation of course, but after observing people's behaviors and actions, a good majority of people strive to "rise up through the ranks" and be a highly recognized person. After all, isn't that kind of the point with leveling? You start from being a newb xenian and after many trials and hardships, you rise up through each class until you either become the ultimate player or you give up trying. This idea applies to the guild rankings as well. If people like the guild and are really interested in it, they'll want to be prominent members in the guild so they'll do whatever it takes to do that, whether it be being friendly and social in the guild chats, being active in-game and in the forums, participating in the guild events, whatever. THe point is, guild rankings really do provide a sense of structure and as an "elite" guild of high-level players, it only seems fitting that people of this caliber is in a guild that is structured and well-organized.

3. Worry about it later. We haven't made the guild yet.
Comments: yeah, I plead the third option XDDD. We still have time before we actually create the guild and I'd rather have another guild meeting with everyone to discuss this matter specifically just before we create the guild. Besides, if we're gonna divide the guild construction fee among the ten people who want to be transferred, we'd have to all meet up at one point so that we can conduct those transactions. So I'd say, have one final guild meeting just before we create the guild. We'll discuss the guild rankings, the guild events, and any other issues or concerns that we may have, then have a HUGE party to celebrate the birth of Scions of Zodiac.

Plus it sort of unbalances the theme towards good with having angel wings AND a knights helm. I think a demon sword and angel wings is enough. Because I think were are trying to be mysterious. Anywho, this is a guild of duality, or balance of good and evil. So instead a placed a glowing globe, or a sort of star, in its place. Plus it allowed room for text....

I also made the whole back of the shield a sort of space/star background, since it now it will show up more readily (I hope) when shrunk.

I tossed in the evil/demon sword in contrast to the angel wings. Again a duality of good/evil.

urk...wow...my ridiculously long post on the guild name description's been reduced to like..three sentences O.o Well..if it's too long that I apologize..I never was one to be brief and concise when I'm writing something with the mindset that what I'm writing is on par with a formal paper x.x Anyway...I'll try to figure out some way to shorten the thing down, but I'd rather retain most of the information about the description rather than just summarizing all of it in like..one or two sentences. And like I said, there's a basic understanding of it, and then there's the deeper meaning behind the name which led us to choose the name for the guild. If members find the entire thing too long, they can just read the basic interpretation of the name and leave it at that. Otherwise, I'd rather keep most of the description intact. No, I'm thinking the guild rankings will be something a little more creative. Not sure what yet, but we have some time before we have to worry about it. Our first concern is getting the money to create the guild first lol. I'm thinking that all the members who are moving to the new guild contribute to the funds. let's see...Hope, Ricky, Hades, Shankman (alt), Jouai/Sochi (alt), Magiik, Tiddy, and myself are all moving to the new guild right? Did I forget someone? Sorry if I did, but if these nine people are going to move into the new guild, then we can divide the cost by about 1/10 per person. Each of us will contribute 1.1 million kron for the creation of the guild. And someone can just volunteer to donate the other 100k. I'm thinking that's the fairest way to go about the creation of the guild but if people disagree with it, then I'm sure something else can be arranged.


Well, there's at least nine of us who are for sure being transferred into the new guild. After that, I think we can just shout that we're recruiting to get the first wave of members. Later on, we can put them through the guild trials and see if we need to remove people.

Ok so i just now randomly stumbled upon this thread haha. So as you know i technically attended the meeting but i wasnt at the meeting. Lets just say that i was riding on Magiiks shoulders lol. My point is that because of this i got all secondhand information, though Magiik did a very good job at filling me in. From what i got out of the info i thought that someone mentioned not having a rank system at all in SZ or having it divided down the middle, as in you either have no power or all of it...can someone make this more clear? Or was that just a thrown out idea and things are still pretty much unsettled?

If the case is that we arent going to have a guild ranking system ill have to do my best to argue against it. In my mind a ranking system adds structure, something to aspire to, a reward for service and commitment, plus its something that can be a lot of fun. It also removes potential risky noob behavior such as changing ranks around or stealing and selling storage items for personal gain. Not that we shouldnt trust people but still...

As for a ranking system consider this. In western astrology there are 4 signs that are called mutable signs or "Double-Bodied". These are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces. These signs are equated with change and versatility. They are right on the cusp of a seasonal change and so have 2 distinct sides. These could make either 4 catagories in which 6 members are placed into each, including a leader. The GL is seperate and controls them all. Unless that seems too individualized. If thats the case then the ranks could involve synonyms to the word Scion i suppose, such as heir, descendent, successor, progeny or even guardian if you look at it that way.

If you want to go to the new guild, I'm okay with it. You'll prolly have to ask the other GMs but I don't see any reason for them to refuse your membership so you should be set.

X.x I think it's only fair that the people who want to move to the new guild contribute to the guild's formation fairly and equally, so if there are ten people who are gonna be transferred, then each of those ten will pay 1 million kron as their entrance fee in. Sell a xen if you have to lol but I think it's only fair if everyone made an equal contribution in terms of funds. But like I said, if you'd rather just have people volunteer to pay everything, then that's okay too.

1) Make the guild rankings according to the actual signs of the Zodiac.
Comments: Well...if I remember correctly there are only ten guild rankings so this idea is pretty much already out the window with their being twelve signs and ten rankings. Of course, if you still want to use the actual signs of the Zodiac for the rankings, consider this: Would our guild still be creative and unique if we just used the Zodiac signs for guild rankings? The purpose of Scions of Zodiac was to create a guild that was new and different-a guild that stood out from the rest. If we used the Zodiac signs for guild ranking names, I'd think we'd kinda lose that aspect of uniqueness, if that makes sense. Basically, I feel that we should come up with guild rankings that impose a much greater meaning than simply the Zodiac signs. Of course, this is just my opinion.

2) Kill the guild rankings completely/make every ranking equal in power with the exception of the Guild Masters
Comments: Well...this would..definitely make our job easier as GMs lol. But you're right. Guild rankings provide a sense of structure and organization and it gives new members motivation to rise up to through the ranks. This is just mere speculation of course, but after observing people's behaviors and actions, a good majority of people strive to "rise up through the ranks" and be a highly recognized person. After all, isn't that kind of the point with leveling? You start from being a newb xenian and after many trials and hardships, you rise up through each class until you either become the ultimate player or you give up trying. This idea applies to the guild rankings as well. If people like the guild and are really interested in it, they'll want to be prominent members in the guild so they'll do whatever it takes to do that, whether it be being friendly and social in the guild chats, being active in-game and in the forums, participating in the guild events, whatever. THe point is, guild rankings really do provide a sense of structure and as an "elite" guild of high-level players, it only seems fitting that people of this caliber is in a guild that is structured and well-organized.

3. Worry about it later. We haven't made the guild yet.
Comments: yeah, I plead the third option XDDD. We still have time before we actually create the guild and I'd rather have another guild meeting with everyone to discuss this matter specifically just before we create the guild. Besides, if we're gonna divide the guild construction fee among the ten people who want to be transferred, we'd have to all meet up at one point so that we can conduct those transactions. So I'd say, have one final guild meeting just before we create the guild. We'll discuss the guild rankings, the guild events, and any other issues or concerns that we may have, then have a HUGE party to celebrate the birth of Scions of Zodiac.

the images look awesome magiik, but I'm not sure if they work with the theme we're going for with Scions of Zodiac. Of course, like I said..I do tend to be picky on details, so have the rest of the guild say their piece before doing anything with them. I modified the images to guild emblem size, and threw in a few of my own images after it was suggested that we just retain the "celestial" aspect of the guild and not bother with all the other elements that comprise the guild. So...here they are. I'll make some more when I have the time. These ones were just made yesterday when I was talking with Hope and Hades.

Not to strike you down for your ideas jouai, but magiik does have a point about the moon images. I completely forgot about the guild Celestial Retribution and we'd virtually be plagiarizing their idea if we made an emblem with a moon as a central figure. Not that anyone's gonna jail us for stealing someone's ideas when it's just something as meaningless as a guild icon on an online game but we should prolly look into other options, find something more creative that still represents Scions of Zodiac. Whatever moon images we have will just be last resort image in the event we can't decide on an image. I'll try to make some more later today, but if magiik hates the galaxy images, then what I have will probably be of no use. But either way, I'll post them on here later today just so we have them.

Btw, magiik, I haven't forgotten about the draft for the Scions of Zodiac main page that I was gonna send you. Haven't had much time to re-edit my description on it and make a working template for you. Of course, I'd just be giving you ideas on what to put on the thread so if you wanted you could make it without the template but we should prolly wait til the guild's actually created before making the main SZ thread.

Which reminds me...We need another guild meeting >.> The meeting will focus specifically on guild rankings and we'll finalize our plans for guild events and touch up on any other issues we may have before we create the guild. After the guild's created, we'll launch the main Scions of Zodiac thread on the forums and maybe have a celebration party for the birth of SZ? meh..no idea how that would work but it's just an idea. Well im very very bad with Photoshop or Crapweaver (Artweaver. Its all i have D:). Im just kind of laying down something for those with a little more skill to work with lol. Its just that if you go on a site, say yahoo, and use the search engine and type in Zodiac, a lot of what you get is similar to the zodiac wheel. Its kind of what a lot of people think of with the term zodiac. Im an advocate for the wheel hahaha. It would be cool if someone could make a shield with the zodiac wheel around the edges with the sword and wings.

And sure blue and black kind of go with the theme of the heavens but that doesnt mean that we are allowed to only use those colors. I like something with reds and oranges swirling about XD

Hmm well at least it served its real purpose by getting us away from wings and swords and the like. The "crayon" on the outside was my least favorite part lol but the center is a portion of a piece or art called the Shield of Poseidon. Just type it into the Yahoo search bar and itll pop right up. I really like it :D

Their just graphic art of the solar system and such. I don't want to take that route. It just seems too ordinary to me.

And yah, with the images of wings and stuff, I was just trying to marry different concepts of what people wanted. But realistically that won't do since the images are so small.

I'm not sure how Poseidon relates to the guild theme, but its really cool. He is my favorite of the Greek Gods.

yeah..that's what I was thinking...have an emblem that represents us but isn't too detailed for the in-game guild emblem. Then have another emblem that is more complex, more detailed, and has more symbols that represent who and what we are in the forum thread.

yeah....all of Saturday is going to be getting some last minute training in before I bang my head on textbooks and walls and more textbooks >.< stupid finals....anyway, if people are okay with that time then sure but I know Hope prolly won't be able to attend the meeting if it's at 11:59pm PST. o.O didn't you post this on another thread? lol. well, like I said, it'd be kinda cool to have the guild rankings named after the espers but I'm not sure if that connection with Final Fantasy XII is gonna be an issue or not. Secondly, we'd have to kill three of the thirteen espers because I think there are only ten ranks that a guild can have. Lastly, we'd have to figure out how we're gonna assign guild powers to each of the ranks if we used this system cuz the names don't exactly indicate a sign of power. Which means that the amount of power a person has in the guild would pretty much be random since the rank names don't indicate any level of authority...not sure if that makes sense or not..but I gotta study for finals so someone else sort this out lol...sorry >.<

well..I've heard of 9mm and Glocks before but I'm only familiar with the name, not the gun associated with it. Never heard of Uzi and Krakalisnoff...err....whatever that gun is ._. and as for the AK-47...isn't that the name of an Arm Slave in Full Metal Panic? o.O

AK-47: One of the first true assault rifles and the most widely used assault rifle in the world.

Kalashnikoff: bsically also an AK-47 or a rifle in that series.
