"....Come...come, young one....

Hmmm....wha...? What was that voice just now? " the young boy ponered aloud to himself, an expression of confusion displaying on his facial features. He was sure that he alone occupied the dank, shadowy corridor in which he stood. Yet, the voice seemed so....near, and quite inviting. Curiousity getting the best of him, the boy proceeded to step out with his left foot. A sharp squeak suddenly escaped his lips as he knees gave out, sending the poor boy face first onto the marble floor beneath him.


" Eh..teh..teh...teh...teh. That one smarted." He whined before settling onto his backside, the tip of his nose gradually reddening. As he attempted to stand onto his feet, the calming voice which he had heard earlier returned, only in a more jovial manner. " Ha,ha,ha. Do not be alarmed, young one. The first step is always the most troubling," As suddenly as he had fallen, the boy's eyelids fluttered rapidly as an unknown force lifted him from the floor, and settled him back onto his feet.

" Please, continue on....Come to me..." The voice beckoned once again. Though he was a bit annoyed by the laugther which preceeded the comments, the young male was once again enticed to seek out the origin of the voice.

Cautiously, he trekked further down the dimly lit hall, the heels of his boots clicking against the tiles. With each progression towards the voice, the corridor grew more and more illuminated, causing the male's eyelids to lower over his greenish hues. The rhythm of his heartbeats increased in tempo as the light grew brighter and brighter. Fear and hesistation halted his footsteps as he reached what appeare to be the end of the passageway. A small lump of saliva slid down his throat as he pondered his next move.

Should he venture further? Who or what was beseeching him to seek them out? What would transpire once he entered into the room set before him?

Using both his forearms to shield his eyes form the blinding light, the young male pushed onward and stepped into a lavishly decorated great hall. Centered within this room was water spouting fountain shape in the image of a young woman. Competely awestruck by the granduer of his new surroundings, his curious hues continued to scan over the decor, noticing portraits of various people.


"Hmm, welcome, young traveler. I have been waiting for your arrival," The voice from before boomed within the hall, causing the male to stumble backwards a step.


" Wh...who are you? Why have you called me here?" he shouted out.

Suddenly, the blinding light would engulf the fountain set before him, his lids clamping downward to protect his retnas. The image of a young woman, similar to the one from the fountain, manifested itself before the young male, a warm smile playing on her lips.

"Welcome, Fox_McCloud. I am the goddess Teva, guardian of Isya," the celestial being spoke.

" T...Teva!? " * Fox exclaimed before falling down onto one knee, his face lowering to the floor. " You...you do me too much honor by coming before me, Goddess Teva. Why have you summoned me?"


Lifting her left hand and extending it towards an adjacent wall, four of the portraits hanging from it became illuminated, showing the images of different warriors.

"Turmoil has befallen the world of Isya, and it is in need of its citizens to help protect it. The time has come, young Fox, to choose your destiny.


" Whoa, whoa!" The young boy exclaimed, rising back to his feet. " This sounds like a big responsibility. How...how can I protect an entire world? I'm just one ordinary guy."

The goddess merely chuckled and descended from her invisible perch, a hand falling upon Fox's head.


"Fear not, Fox_McCloud. You are stronger than you think. what's more, you will not be alone in your fight. Many will join up with you in the fight to save Isya. There will be many trials and tribulations, but you must have faith that you will overcome them."

Though still skeptical about the whole situation, a surge of confidence began to rise up within his heart. His right hand fell across his heart as he stared up at Teva." Rest assured, my goddess, I will not fail you."

Waving her hand once more, Teva lowered the four portraits before Fox.

" There are four paths for you to choose from. Fighters are strong and durable, and love to be in the heat of battle. Clerics believe in the use of divine powers to heal and support their comrades. Mages weild the elements to accomplsih their tasks. Archers use swift movements and sharp aim to kill off foes before they attack them. Choose wisely, young one."


Fox hesistated before stepping forward, knowing there was no turning back now. Allowing his heart to choose before him, he suddenly rushed through the portrait of a clerical warrior.

Hmmm......

Interesting concept. I can't say anything good or bad about it at the moment. So, I'll just keep my mouth shut until the story unfolds a bit more.

" Geez....what's with all the light!?" Fox complained as he shielded his eyes once more. Once things had dimmed, the young adventurer found himself standing before a red head atop a wooden carton. She introduced herself as Remi, and began explaining the little nuances of his new surroundings.


" Look, lady, I didn't come here to be lectured! I was summoned to be a hero. I'm ready and rarin' to fight somethin'!! " He shouted in an impatient manner, which did little to cut short the walkthrough given by Remi.

Gritting his teeth, Fox obediently followed the red head's advice and sought out Healer Julia for further instructions. Luckily for him, things did not drag on as long, and he was estatic to recieve his first quest. " Finally! " Fox cried, jumping up and down with excitement. " Time to be a hero!"

Rushing out into ther field just outside the town, his hues quickly zoned in on his first target, a gelatinous being he remembered Julia refring to as a Slime.


" Prepare to die, Slime Ball!!"


BAM....POW....ZING....KAPLUNK


Eagerness soon led to despair as Fox soon found himself lying face first in the dirt with the Slime hovering over him. " You gotta be kiddin'!! How did I get beaten by that walkin' ball of Jello!!?? he thougth angrily as he hovered about in limbo. Much to his surprise, he found himself suddenly standing erect once more, his wounds all being fixed.


" Geez, you newbies. Don't you ever take time to read the instructions."

Swiveling on his heels, Fox stared at what appeared to be a cleric like himself. However, this one was dressed in thick armor, and wielded what looked like a large hammer.

" Wow!! It's so shiny!! How can I get somethin' like that? " Fox eagerly asked. The experienced adventurer simply shook her head at the boy.

" How about a "thanks" for reviving you first? Gosh, why am I always helping these disrespectful green horns? "


Feeling a bit foolish for his childish actions, Fox took a step back and bowed hs head solemnly. " Sorry about that, and thanks for bringing me bakc to life. Still, I don't know how that stupid Snot Ball beat me. It looks so weak!" The female cleric would then go on to explain what Fox had failed to pay attention to: The instructions for equipping his weapon.


Face as red as a ripened tomato, Fox thanked the adventurer once more, and retrieved his beginner's mace from his inventory.

" A stick? I'm supposed to beat it up with a stick? " he asked aloud, puzzled by the weird looking weapon. With a shrug of his shoulders, he sought out the Slime which had killed him, and charged at him once again. To his dismay, Fox easily slew the beats with a mere 2 hits! A cry of excitement leaped from his mouth as he celebrated his victory.


BAM....POW...ZING....KAPLUNK


Fox gagged a bit as he slowly fell back to the dirt once again, staring up at the Mushroom he had aggroed.

After his unfortunate incident with the " Slime Ball", Fox began to take learning the basics abit more seriously. He spent countless minutes questioning adventurers who had been around for quite some time. With the knowledge that he gained, he would soon begin taking down all sorts of fantastic creatures. Speedy Slimes, alien-like Mushrooms, twig carrying Imps. You name it, he slew it.


With each victory that he claimed, Fox's strength grew immensely, and he learned numerous new skills that aided in his growth. One day, while purchasing more provisions, a mustachioed older male began calling out at him.


" Psst!! Hey!! You over there!! Come hither!! " The man cried out. After taking the time to see if he was calling someone else, Fox waltzed over to the fountain centered in middle of town to see what the man wanted.


" You ranged? " Fox joked.

" Yes, boy. Listen up, my name is Roumenus, chief of the town of Roumen. I'm afraid I have grave news to tell you."

Though he didn't take kindly to being called "boy", Fox stood still and listened to what the older male had to say. " What sort of grave news?"


" It appears that King Slime and his armies has descended down upon our fair city. After years of being ridiculed and mocked for their appearance, it seems the Slimes had begun to attack numerous small villages on their way to Roumen. I'm sending out messengers in order to gather brave warriors like you to aid in putting a halt to this rampage."


Fox's jaw almost hit the floor as he listened attentively to the story Roumenus told him. He could not believe what he had just heard! <<A full on war against hundreds of enemies? This is the kinda action I've been waiting for!!! he exclaimed silently, shaking with excitement before the town chief.


" I assume by the jubilant look on your face that you would be happy to join up in our quest." Roumenus spoke, a bit weirded out by the young adventurer.


" Leave it to me, old timer!! Those ugly snot balls won'tknwo what hit them. Fox_McCloud will take care of everything!!"

This takes time for such amazing stories, get a grip :P

".....You've you go to be kidding me!!?? " The young cleric exclaimed as he gazed upon that immense battlefield spread out before his eyes. This was nothing like he had first imagined. The landscape was filled with numerous variations of the Slime-like creatures he had encountered in the normal fields outside of Roumen, yet they were much tougher. The hits that would have KO'ed the regualr ones id little to push back the enemy's onslaught.

Luckily for Fox, he had gained some skilled allies, which made crushing the Slimes that much easier. Much to his disliking, however, he was forced to take a backseat to the action, showering his party members with heals.


" Man, this sucks!!! I thought Roumenus had picked me to take out the King Slime. I'm supposed to be the hero!!" The young boy complained silently, frowning as he watched the other adventurers hog all fo the action.


" Hey, heal us, you stupid cleric!!"
" Heal me, plox!!"
" Stop foolin' around!!"

Fox suddenly stumbled backwards as the various shouts of anger descended upon him. Were these people serious? He was healing his butt off, and they had the nads to complain about it?


" You guys were barely taking any damage!! I'm not gonna waste my Sp on your little boo boos!!" * He shot back, incredibly annoyed at that point. The shouting match would continue back and forth as they ascended to the top of the hill. Soon, they would come face to face with the big Kahoona himself: King Slime.

" Whoa....that's one big slimeball..." Fox thought as he gazed at the King from a far.

" All clerics heal the tank. Stay in the back!!" cried one of the fighters. Fox's jaw nearly hit the ground after hearing this proclamation.


" WHAT??!! I bust my hump trying to keep these guys alive, and all I get to do is watch?! That's so not fair!!" He fumed, jumping up and down in anger. One by one, the other adventurers began to rain all manner of attacks down upon King Slime, leaving poor Fox to become a spectator once more....or would he?


" Arrrgghhh!!! Enough of this!! I'm no one's slave!! It's time for Fox_McCloud to join the battle!!" The young male screamed aloud. Grasping his shield and mace tightly, he rushed in quickly and began to attack the Slime boss with all of his strength, much to the dismay of the other warriors.


" Get back and heal, noob!! Clerics aren't supposed to attack!" The lead fighter yelled, but to no avail. Fox was determined to prove he could fight just as well as others. Beads of sweat ripped own his face as he fought with all his might. Shockingly enough, it would be him who got the fatal blow which would forever silence the Great King, watching as he vanished into then air.


" That's right, baby!! That's what happens when you mess with Fox McCloud! " He exclaimed, smiling brightly at his accomplishment.

Thanks for all the support. Unfortunately, school took up alot of my time so I haven't been able to add another chapter. However, I will be doing so this weekend.Look for it. :D

After numerous hardships and trials, Fox had finally gathered enough battle experience to qualify for his first job change. " It's a bout time to!! I was sick of being an apprentice," the young healer exclaimed as he trekked through the Forest of Mist in search of GrandMaster Sean.

" Grand Master Sean? Is he some sort of DJ?" He pondered aloud as he slowly approached the seasoned warrior. " Sean, I'm here to get my next job! What I got to do?"

" Ah, yet another victim...I mean, warrior for the Shadow Dungeon." Sean stated.

"Did he just say victim?" Fox thought to himself, staring at the warrior quizzically.

" Ahem!" Sean cleared his throat before continuing to talk. " Unfortunately, young one, I do not possess the key necessary to access the Dungeon. You have to find it yourself."


Fox sighed slowly at thought of having to perform a fetch quest. Nevertheless, the young cleric scoured the forest in search of said key, slaughtering all that stood in his way. Once he finally retrieved the key, he returned it to Sean in order to enter the Shadow Dungeon.

" Oh, I should warn you about what will happ...." Sean began, but was cut off as Fox was transferred to the dungeon. As he materialized in his new surroundings, a puzzled expression fell over his facial features.

" Why....why is there a mirror here? " He thought aloud as he stared back at himself. Then without warning, his supposed reflection began attacking him. He got over the initial shock and began to defend himself frantically. Just as he was getting the best of his dopple ganger, the being sprinted off further into the dungeon.

" Come back here, coward!!" Fox screamed, feeling a bit weird about insulting himself. He chased his clone around the darkened arena and finally cornered him in a great hall. Still ticked about being attacked, Fox lashed out at his shadow without mercy, pounding him with everything he had. Within minutes, the young warrior stood victorious over his clone, panting heavily due to the intense struggle.

" Well, that was easy." He proclaimed, despite what his appearance said. As he started towards the exit, a sudden thought popped into his head." Wait, if that was supposed to be me, and I beat him that easily, doesn't that mean I'm weak?"
