I'm having some issues with downloading SOS that I thought would be better off posted. I'm Allaire, and I got an email message through my cmushka@rogers.com email account that I had been invited into the closed beta for SOS. Seeing as I share that email account with my brother - we have been given it from my mother - and it didn't interest him, I figured I'd give SOS a try. Upon registering under a different email, truth_girl@msn.com, I was told that those who did not get invited could not download the client. So I have recovered my brother's account, but unfortunately, all the information is for him, and thus I really can't make use of the account. So I can supply you with all the information of the cmushka account my brother is registered on as qaz121 and if you could please transfer the invite, as he has no wish to play - either that or if you could change the username to Allaire and put in my information for that account. Thanks, I would appreciate a reply to see what we can do.

go to your program files (C:\program files\outspark\solstice)
or wherever your SoS folder is and check there instead for the launcher~

tarik, the point of CB is to limit the amount of testers to play,
so instead of being spammed with mail from multiple people,
the small group of CBers can report without it getting messy.

therefore, there's no point in the invites if uninvited people get to play as well.
just wait until OB or if you get lucky and get an invite~

or check the announcements frequently~
to save you the trouble, i'll just answer it here for you:
this game is still in its CB stage. in order to play the game and have your account activated,
you must have an invite from the GM (when you recieve the mail,
your account has been activated via the GM already, so there's no need to do
anything else but to log into your account, download the game client and play).
those who has an invite doesn't get the "only selected closed beta testers may download the secret of solstice" message~
those who doesn't have the invite gets it.

Well, I downloaded Fiesta however, it turns out I needed to download A Driver Graphics Card. So, I did look through your Graphic Cards Option but, you don't have anything I could Download; I only have A Dell and My Program is Windows Vista.

I Honestly think I'm Misunderstanding something So, I was just wondering if someone can contact me or send some information to make the downloading Process simpler for me or better, tell me what to Download. I would really Appreciate the Help.

the invitation stuff is kinda moron, most mmorpg get an limited amount of registrations... e.g. 1000: the 1000 fastest ppl to get inside the game are the only ones in CB, and probably will be there until the end, instead of inviting 1000 ppl and getting like 600 in-game...
well... I wrote it kinda fast and didn't read, must hav a lot of gramatical errors...

I've got the invite to the CB for SoS and i can start the download for the game client however halfway through it says there is a corrupted file or something and i cant continue. Is there anyway to fix this?

the corruption probably occurred because your connection got cut off or some other thing ;x

Hi. I have dnl this game 3 times and everytime i get a corrupt or incompleat file. Please help me solve this issue. :confused:
I use F-secure antivirus 2007, running on Win XP pro and I use DAP download manager 8.5. Do I have to turn off my anti-virus or something?

although the download might be slower,
there'll be a less chance of file corruption~

go to your program files (C:\program files\outspark\solstice)
or wherever your SoS folder is and check there instead for the launcher~

since you downloaded it, you seem confuse on how to install it.
just double click on the thing you've installed and you're on your way~
after the installation is completed, you should have a desktop shortcut to the game.
your actual game folder would be at c:\program files\outspark\secret of the solstice~
and if you want to check what graphics card you have,
(if you have a laptop, just look at the right bottom part of your opened case, it'll say in the many labels there)
go to control panel > system, select the hardware tab and click on device manager.
once there, click on display adapter and the name of your graphic card will pop up~

if that method didn't work for you (or if you need more information on your card),
go to start > program > accessories > system tools > system information and go to components.
after it expands, click on display~

I was invited to play by outspark. I was even told in the email that the beta testing is over. The website states that beta testing is not over and will not allow me to download the game client. So, my questions are: is the beta testing over, why was I invited if I am not allowed to download, and is this going to be one of those rpg's that force group participation?

Sure, you can download it, but you probably can't play it. 90% of the MMOs out there are for Windows Systems, if you haven't already noticed.

Well You See, I'm new and I want to play this game, but this SoS setup download I just got is being stop by my antivirus software,telling me it is currupted or incomplete and it may be because of a virus, and that I should ask the creators to give me a new copy of it.

i tried to run the game, doesn't work, need the driver, i have no idea which driver to get, i have an intel graphics card, but i can't find out anything more because of the of the stupid version of windows vista i have, could you tell me which driver i need (i noticed on one of the other comments that i shouldn't be using a download accelerator, but i can't get the thing off my computer)

Its problably just Vista. I have downloaded it on 3 different types of comps and they all work perfectly for me but my Vista won't work no matter what i do or install. Other people have had problems too. they have solutions on the forums if you look but that hasn't worked for me so i don't know if it will work or not for you.

basically my vista won't work with it yet so try playing on a different computer that doesn't use Vista or wait and see what other solutions are found.

My sister Angel is a Closed Beta tester and after watching her play the game I tried to download it a few days ago and got the usual "can't download...in closed beta testing" ect. I emailed someone about the game, A GM or customer support person via a "contact us" link ect. And I got a reply email stating that the game was now in Open Beta testing and that I could now download it. I was given an alternate link to the game client. However I still get the "can't download...in closed beta testing" messages. What should I do next? can you help? Thank you.

I got the email saying i was invited and i clicked onto the download link... its saying it can not be opened once i downloaded it, i have a mac book it was made in 12/8/06. if i dont have the requirements i dont know but i played world of warcraft before this and it had a lot more stuff needed for the game then this so i have no clue.

It seems a lot of us are awaiting the open beta for the game, sadly I found out about this game a week after the game have become closed beta. So the wait probably may be long or short but at least I'll know its worth it since I'm seeing some good feedback among the site.

Ive downloaded it and installed and when i click on the game the login and pass comes up and i do that then goes in the game then it say Closed beta check cancel on the server picking i clicked check and went up to the character screen and i click create th it shuts down goes back to the log in screen

THEY have a backup file for downloading a directX 9.0 you should try it and then log into the game again...

I open SoS client and it goes through checking for updates for solstice, then it just gets stuck on downloading patch... and never does anything after that. Then I just close the client and thats when I get the error message "See logfile for details".

Murdock, What do you mean you'll have issues if you are using Dial-up? I'm on a decently high speed satellite connection, and it can have lag as bad as Dial-up sometimes.

TRY UPDATING GRAPHICS CARD! If you don't know what Graphics card you have, go to start then run and type DxDiag. Look at Display tab at the top and then look at Name under Device. Then search for the device driver.

Dude, what really sucks is I spent MANY hours playing SoS and I put alot of hard work into it to get 4 characters over lvl 40, and now because of the new patch, I can't play anymore because my freaking client doesn't want to download update... I really can't beleive this.... I played for like 20 hours of everyday for like 5 days to get a 44 rogue and now it's all thrown away... it's so Frustrating........ If I never get to play this game again because of the gay client bull****... I'll be so freaking dissapointed. If the GM's don't create a new way to update the game/client, then someone needs to upload the entire SoS directory/folder, and yes it's like more then a gig, but once someone days I'll freaking find everything that was updated and create a setup myself for everyone thats having problems. I've connected my pc to more then 4 isp's and it still won't download the patch, and I tried it on 3 pc's, so it's obviously a problem with some outspark server. It's like their server is blocking somethings like packets, or connections or something.

GAH I just hope I get to play the game again soon, like within a week! I am your #1 devoted player u have me for life guys.. I just don't understand why it's been awhile and it's still not fixed or found a way around it... :( =.=' *crys*

I have StuffitExpander for my download system, and when the download for the game client is done, and I try to launch it, a stuffit window comes up and says: "The file doesn't not appear to be compressed or encoded. It is advised that you obtain further information about the contents of this from the sender or provider of the file" And then "(It will help to know what program created the file and what operating system(s) the file can be used on.)"
So, what kind of information do I need to know? And It would be really cool if someone could tell me what driver the system works on, like flash player, windows, or other.

Ella, please dont give out your email, the GMs can invite you but giving your email out is really a bad thing. Plus regular members cant invite you to the CBT, they can only invite you to register to Outspark...

you have to open your computer and look for your graphics card i work on computers so i can help you.
look for a little square about 1-3 inches and it will have more than less likely intel on it
i have a Dell Dimension 5150 and its integrated so look around your little square for the exact name it says (should be 1-5 inches around your graphics card)
or if its seperate then look on the cards sticking from the outside of your computer and follow the card and read the text on it.

i kind of confused out here... i just saw the ad of this game in new grounds
about 3 weeks ago... then i decided to register... so i got a mail confirming my registration and so i played for until lvl 34 rouge yesterday... just yesterday... and since im working at day i could only play after work
i had the client and the driver but after installing this is what i get....

The game is currently in closed beta and you need an invite in order to play. GM's (and only GM's) send out invites at random but i think they've stopped. Just wiat til the game enters open beta.

You can't, apparently. You’re not the only one though :(

No the problem with that is the launcher can't connect to the servers to complete the patch. Make sure nothing is blocking your connectivity, like your firewall. I was reluctant to turn it off at first but it did help me finish patching with no problem. Just make sure to turn on your firewall afterwards.

That's an estimation. It could be christmas as well.

The GMs also said they will announce a couple of days before the OB starts. With that statement it discourages any false hopes of an aproximated date.

Your pc, must reach the requirements to work, yes. If its new, then it should be fine. Vista is like the best, but XP works fine too. I would know.

You don't need an invite, hence "Open" just go download it, install it and see if it works.

1. whn the download crashes, keep downloading it again and again..hopefully it'll reach 100%.
2.whts ur net speed? if it's less, ask a friend who has a higher net speed to download it for u..

Well first off, the download finished downloading. Then i went into my folder to click it. After i click it it brings up the little thing where you click open. But after you click it, it just freezes the window and never loads.

Hello everyone.
Today i was playing and exping with a group when suddenly SOTS crashed. I tried to restart it, but it failed at restarting. :( So the next thing i did was updating all drivers: graphical ones, soundcard, java, flash and that kind of crap. Restarted pc after every driver install and tried to restart the game.
Didn't work. :(
So i uninstalled SOTS and installed again (with comp restart ofc to make sure). And now its downloading. Downloading sometimes got stuck, so once in a while i open the Tastmanager (CTRL + ALT + DELETE or CTRL+SHIFT+ESCAPE) and shut down the process of SOTS. Then login again and the download continues.
After 30 download attempts, then game finally got installed.
but the problem is that it doesn't startup again.
I really want to play this beautiful game.
What do i have to do to make it work?

Hi Clanes! I'm not sure if this will help, but this is how I fixed my Vista one. (My XP works fine, but Vista didn't until now.)

Vista way:
1. Downloaded latest NSIS at http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Download
(Still get an error after running)
2. Went to Control Panel > Firewall. Then go to Exceptions tab > Add Program... > Browse... > Outspark_Solstice.1.0.5 setup
3. Find the Solstice setup. Right click and "Run as Admin"

XP way (I didn't have any errors with XP but these are my guesses):
1. Try using this: http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Why_do_I_get_NSIS_Error

hello i got also a prob with the install :/
i wanted 2 install the game but when i run the install it only load something and then close the window thats all oO i opened the task-manager and there was still a process but it doesnt make something i already waited some time but nothing happens :( plz help me

i need help i haveing problom downlaod the game becuase when i went to free downlaod it sayed do you want to open the file and save it i did that but when it done Outspark_ solstic[2]1.0.6 i clik on it. it the NSIS stuff so can you help me. and this is koolninja3000
