View Full Version : Archer Stats: What the number mean

I've seen many a question regarding archer builds on these forums, and for me the best tool for deciding a build myself, is knowing what stats do, and what those numbers -mean- to me. Every player has a different playing style, and knowing what the numbers mean can help you develop your own, unique, and effective build.

The breakdown:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Strength:
Strength to an archer means raw physical power. The more points you put into this stat, the harder you will hit, not only normally, but with skills as well. Strength breaks down increased damage each level as such:

Stat increase: | Damage Increase:
+1 strength = + 1 damage
+2 = +2
+3 = +3
+4 = +4
+5 = +6
+6 = +7
+7 = +8
+8 = +9
+9 = +10
+10 = +12

As you can see, every point of strength is simply +1 damage. Every 5 points gives an added damage bonus. A full strength build, with +100 strength, will have +120 damage per hit.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dexterity:

Dexterity is a stat archers have in abundance naturally, meaning just by leveling up your dexterity will be a high stat. Increasing dexterity through stat points increases two things: Evasion and Aim. Evasion and Aim don't increase by a whole set number like strength does, but by an added percentage chance.

1 dexterity = +0.3% Aim and +0.3% Evasion
2 = 0.6%
3 = 0.9%
4 = 1.2%

And so on. There are (unconfirmed) rumors that dexterity also increases attack rate. I've heard at 25 the % increase in dexterity drops to +0.1% per stat point, but I'm not 100% sure on this.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Endurance:

Endurance is your physical toughness. How much damage you can soak, and how much damage you can take before you die. Every point in endurance increases your hit points and defense.

+1 Endurance = +5 HP, +1 Defense
+2 = +10 HP, +1 Defense
+3 = +15 HP, +2 Defense
+4 = +20 HP, +2 Defense
+5 = +25 HP, +3 Defense

Every odd numbered level of endurance (1, 3, 5) you get another added point to your defense value, allowing you to take less damage for those times that you do get hit. (Archers have a naturally high evade). Every Endurance point also gives you five more hit points.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Intelligence:

Intelligence works the same as strength, only it increases magical damage instead of physical damage. An archer shouldn't put any points into Intelligence as they have no spells.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Spirit:

Spirit is the controlling stat of your critical ratio, and your Spirit Pool, or SP, used to power your skills. Spirit increases your crit and SP like this:

+1 Spirit = +0.2% Critical Hit Ratio, +5 SP
+2 = +0.4% Crit Hit Rate, +10 SP

And so on. Every point in spirit increases your critical hit rate by 0.2%, and your SP by 5. Once you hit 25 Spirit, your increase in critical hit rate drops to 0.1% per level, and most people stop spending spirit points at this point.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Evasion, Critical Hit Ratio:

Most people see the percentage increases in these stats and don't fully grasp what they mean, so here's what these stats mean to you.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Critical Hits:

A crossbow (lv 20) has a base critical hit ratio of 6%. This means that 6% of your shots, or 3/50 shots, will be critical hits. Now if you put 10 points into spirit, to increase your critical hit ratio by 2%, making it overall 8%, your crit ratio changes to 2/25 shots being critical hits. Increase that again by 10 points (20 spirit) and 1/10 shots will be a critical hit, that's a 10% critical hit chance. At level 20, your maximum critical hit ratio with a crossbow is 6% base + 1% Mara Pirate Earrings, +5% from 25 spirit, meaning your crit rate can be 12% at level 20. (12% is roughly 1/8.3333 repeating shots).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Evasion:

Evasion is the same way, only you have a base evasion stat given by armor. How this calculates in at the moment is unknown, but the same percentage calculations apply for how much you dodge based on dexterity alone, without your armor.

25 dexterity at level 20 would account for a 7.5% evasion rate, almost 8%, which means you will dodge twice every 25 times you get hit. (note: the actual numerical value of 7.5% dodge rate is abstract to the point where 2/25 is a better fit than the real number. But if you're curious it's 1.875/25 so in all practicality, 2/25).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hopefully this can help some people out there with questions about their builds, and the numerical values of stats.

Lol I was working on a guide like this. But so it won't just be a clone of this, I'm adding more info than just stats.

Anyways, that's a lot of typing, good job I guess :D
