Alright,

this is by no means a flame thread, as like 99% of my other threads. So flamers, if you start, i will flame you to death.

Topic of discussion is Lock Down.

As far as i know, there is no such option available in outspark.. yet. Although there is the ban function, there is not hibernation mode available. For the players who would like to take a break from online games and go play playstation or something else or some real life activities, but have invested a lot in their accounts, and fear to be hacked, hibernation is good.

Of course, to reduce players hibernating on a whim, this function must be made available only with money. I do realise that such a function is impossible to be implemented ingame, since onsonsoft doesn't have this function at all. That's why this function can only be implemented on the website.

GMs and CsRs can always recommend the following, :

1) don't give/share your account and information to/with any one else.

Now, this is a problem, actually. In my gaming history spanning more than a decade, since Ultima Online and ever after. Even if we do not share/give information about our accounts, there is always the factor known as hackers.

I will state a not so recent example. In 2004, there is a game known as MU Online. During maintenance of servers, the hacker managed to slip unnoticed into server databases and make a copy of them. He released the user database onto google. Many lives were lost, ingame and in real life. Some players went for a vacation and returned to their accounts only to find out that its emptied of everything.

Now, the method which i will suggest is a skeleton format. It roughly goes like this.

1) I decided to take a vacation.
2) I pm a CsR on forum.
3) i requested lockdown on my account.
4) And i pay using methods as listed in outspark store.
5) i will be given a number which i must keep properly, and an email will be sent to me. If i ever lost my email or the number i was given, it will be entirely my own fault.
6) when i finally decided to get my account back, i will need to pm CsR again, with the number and whatever other forms of authenication, and pay again for the account to be reactivated.

As far as i know, there is no function for lockdown. So the management can just ban the account permanently and put a note that it was not actually banned, but is in hibernation.

In this way, players can have no fear that their account will be hacked and all their investments lost. If an account can be hacked after it is locked down, it will be entirely outspark's fault, and they will have much more serious problems to handle.

Alright, the above is just a small idea which can be known as "insuring your gaming experience" or "buying insurance for your online games".

regards

mmhh like many others I have never really thought about this even though one gamesite I played was hacked a few times. The top 100 players of the site had all their stats changed etc. I would surely be one who would pay for this type of insurance.

I really think it should be up to the game management to make sure our accounts were secure in the first place, if we need to buy such a guarantee what does that say about the security?

It also (this is stretching it a bit) could lead to some form of abuse. How easy would it be for the game to publicly announce a whole bunch of accounts with loads of expensive stuff and high levels got hacked and 'encourage' like they do with events for extenders and whatnot for people to get this security if they are away for extended periods of time?

yeh, read properly. when we buy the insurance, its all up to outspark. our accounts lay in their hands. if some hackers release the info to the public, the insurance we bought would cover us for the damages lost. we would get back whatever we lost which was stated in the contract when we bought the insurance.

This looks like a great idea. Maybe also an option to hibernate with IG gold, so it's fair for those who can't buy SC.

I know what your saying, but accounts should be protected 24/7 so there wouldn't be a need for the insurance.

If only the word 'fair' was in OS's vocab. Assuming they did this they would never offer this to non-SC players, it'd be against their priority of making money.

why do you say that about OS o.o;

We like Fiesta, but we don't like OS.

But I like this idea a lot, but I kind of doubt OS will do this because; if something did happen while our account was on "Lock down" and as you said, OS would be held responsible, I don't think they would want to go through all that trouble, in my personal opinion, I think OS would just rather have the blame put on us, but the fact that you said we would have to pay actual money may change OS's mind, seeing they are a business and they just want to make money.

You'll win the lottery before Outspark can get OnsOn to change some of the ongoing issues in this game. That's how slow it can be.

you should get a job at outspark.
-joke-
not a bad idea, but if it becomes a cash shop item we would hope that outspark takes care of your account if it gets hacked.
