Gimp HELP!!!

Hey outspark fiesta players i need help with this gimp thing. Okay i want to like cut an image out and put it like on a different image how can i do that. For example i would like to lest say i would take a screenie, then i would cut my self out and put my char on a different background or a different image HOW CAN I DO THAT IM SO FRUSTRATED!!
