How do I level up my weapon?

I can't refine my weapon because it is too low of a level, how do I make it a higher level? O.o

You get a Elrue then go to the smith and do refine weapon put weapon in middle then put 1 elrue in random slot in the circle around it, and if you get lucky it will get +1 and if you mess up on it then it might break or nothing will happen...with elrue you can upgrade from 1-3 then you need different stones for 4-6 and 7-9
