Guys I've been thinking... well not really... if Clerics are Jews.
Everytime you get buffed you get a Star of David above your head...
I know this is a stupid thread, but i thought it might be funny XD.
Post your thoughts on this.

Most of the armors and weapons have crosses on them. That doesn't make us Christians. There are goddesses and gods of Isya, so technically the clerics are all pagans.
Heathens FTW! ;)

Clerics are clerics. Does it really matter what 'religion' they are? Considering that there is an item called 'Blessing of Teva', I would be prone to thinking that they are 'Tevans' or 'Tevaists' or 'Followers of Teva'. Whatever that is.
At any rate, Outspark or OOS can't afford to have excessive religious symbolism in this game. It just wouldn't go over well with people being as touchy as they are about such things.

That just completely and utterly destroyed the fun of this thread. x.x

I think the stuffy academic term may be "Judeo-Christian," but that's neither here nor there. (In point of fact, I've no idea where it is...) ;)

If you think about it, there actually is a fair amount of religious iconography associated with the class: Keast in Eld specifcally mentions "God" (bearing in mind the usually mediocre translations). There are crosses on the 30 armor and shield, the 40 mace and possibly hammer, and the 80 shield. Invinc has big flashy angel wings, there's a high-level skill that features a floating ring of glowing crosses, and there are probably others that I'm forgetting. Indeed, the word "cleric" itself referred originally to Christian clergymen.
Given that Fiesta clerics technically are "Tevaists" or whatever, the Christian symbols don't really make any sense, so I think it's safe to assume that the devs were primarily looking for stuff that would match the "holy," pseudo-religious nature of the class. :p This also explains the "Star of David" used in the Endure animation -- it's more a matter of looks than symbolism. Penta/hexagrams and similar sigils seem to be common when it comes to working magic in games (Magic Missile's and Nova's animations, for obvious examples).
The animation for Nature's Protection also uses what looks like a zodiac circle...
EDIT: And, according to the screenies in another thread, the Korean version of Multi-Shot uses a circle of runes in part of the animation.
Wow, I rambled a bit there. How's that for completely and utterly destroying the thread? ;)

Nephron, not destroying...adding to the discussion.
You are quite correct there is a very mixed bag of symbolism used in Fiesta.
Okay, have gone to the Fiesta Story in the game guides in another window for reference.
Creation being/Primal force - Legel
Goddess of Isya - Teva
Gods created by the fragmenting of Legel:
Markis - god with power of destruction.
Pagel - god with power of greed
Apoline - goddes with power of desire
Anis - god with power of strength
Bijou - god with power of creation (ally of Teva)
Nik - the power of darkness
Legel retained the power of chaos but was imprisoned by Teva inside the world of Isya.
It would seem reasonable that clerics follow Teva and her ally Bijou. The other gods created the monsters. Classic example of Good and Evil, Light and Dark.
Three of the servers are named for Isyan Dieties, the fourth for an Elven Mage who started out good, but was turned to evil.

You should see runescape, 3 gods there and over time everyone became way to sensetive of what God they "worshipped" let alone they actualy kinda believe in it as if it were real.

The symbolism in MMO's to religion means little to nothing.
If we were to follow Religion, then the healing class itself would be close to that of a saint.
In every MMO i've played, and trust me, there's a lot, there's always a healer, with some sort of a religious spell, be it a star, a pentagram, or something else. It's just for looks.

I don't think anyone here was bashing/plans to bash Jewish people -- though of course, clerics "bash" pretty much everything. Get it? Get it? :p How's that for a lame attempt at levity? ;)

Oh the wittiness and sillitude of your joke, Nephron!
But anyway, back on topic.
In ninety-nine percent of MMOs, the healing class will always have some sort of religious symbol. It is just to make the class seem more "Real". Like in some games, necromancers and other 'dark magic' users will use pentagrams, symbols, rituals to cast their spells. So Clerics and Paladins and other 'Holy' classes get things like a Cross, or a Star of David.
:/ But, does it really matter at all? Why bring this up now when it has been left alone for so long?
Off-topic: Clerics in real life are not actually healers. Clerics are the Clerks of the Church. In essence, they are secretaries.
"Don't worry guys! I'll restore your HP with my GET COFFEE skill!"
:/ Whadyaknow, a Christian making Church jokes. OH THE WIT!

On must also take into consideration from where the animations come. Korea isn't the west and they view religion and religious symbolism differently than we do with our western eyes. It could be that the programmers/designers thought, "Hey, crosses are pretty! Clerics are nice, they deserve pretty!" Mind you, I don't really think the thought process was that simplistic, but that's a comical thought, right?

*groan* And here I was trying to be virtueous and not make Anis jokes.
Wouldn't it be slightly hysterical if they added a new server and named it Anis?
