I recently purchased a skill and learned it. It's now in my skill menu. I tried at first to empower it but it said that "The Skill has not been used" or something? So I tried clicking those little arrows or whatever and it said "Skill Empowerment successfull" So I tried killing something and it didn't really make a difference... so I don't understand. I go back into the skill empower menu and change it so that the attack arrow is all the way up and and stuff and it says the empowerment is successful, and now when I try to change it again it's right back to saying "The skill has not been used"

I'm just so confused. How do I empower a skill that's "already empowered" And how do I use it? How can you tell when it's making a difference?

I feel like such a noob but they don't really explain things properly in this game...

The skills under that first icon are the active ones. Once you have learned it and it's in the list, left-click on the icon for the skill and drag that icon to the icon bar that's usually on the bottom left, where your "auto-attack" icon is. You trigger it by hitting the key it's under, 1 thru 0 and the "-" and "=" keys for the first row, "shift" plus same key for the second row. Expand the upper rows using the "+" sign I think it is, at the far right of the first row. They are usually a one-hit spell/skill with a cool down till you can use it again. The empowerments will shorten the cool down time, increase the spell's damage...etc.. Look at Ruby's purchase list to see at what level you can buy the next higher skill level and what it will cost.
