Grinding Levels

Im used to grinding alot in mmo's, its just the easiest way for me to level *shrug*, are there any negative effects of grinding out your levels in this game?

I'd say it depends on your levels. Sometimes grinding is faster than going through a KQ, depending on where you hunt/grind at and if you're with a group/party or not.

I find grinding in Uruga is better than trying to solo in Concealed Prison atm. It varies from person to person on opinion though.

but Ive heard that certain items require a certain amount of fame, and If I dont quest I wont get any fame lol. Will that really effect me at higher levels?

So far fame is only mostly used in the purchase of stuff (alchemy stones and skills/spells). Beyond that I haven't seen much use beyond that.

Oh no no. I meant there is a NPC in Elderine who will sell you skills for fame points instead of using copper/silver to purchase them. It's an alternative to purchasing with money. She doesn't have all the skills and such but some of them can be money savers if in a finance crunch.
