Here's my suggestion...have it that when somebody attacks you a message pops up.

"(insert player name here) wishes to fight you. Do you accept?"

That way if you want to fight you can but if you dont want to fight then you can just hit "no" and continue grinding.




This will significaly decrese the ammount of people who are spawnkilling because after they kill you once they you dont want to fight them again so you say "no". It will aloso cut down on the ammount of post on the forums sayin "Whats Wrong with the Abyss".



Wont this make everyone happy?

No, this won't work because almost every single time it will be "no" destroying the entire purpose of the abyss probably making it not even a pvp zone so if its not a pvp zone then the monsters become harder, drops become rarer and worst, and exp rates go down as well.

A better idea would probably make the first little section in the abysses a Non-PVP zone. That way, if you see people camping outside that area waiting to kill you, then you can leave without getting spawn killed. A message down where the system message box is should say "You are now entering a PVP zone" or "You are now exiting a PVP zone". The confirmination box would just give a new thing to annoy people with.

Anyway, the permission to fight is an alright idea. I play another game where if you want to duel with someone, you select duel and they are given a confirmation box. You pick yes or no. I think you should know what happens when you pick the choices.

Also, that game has a mode called "Pk Mode". You can switch to this mode and fight anyone else who is in that mode at will. But you have to stay in it for ten hours before you can switch back.

As I see it, there are a few things that might "fix" the abyss. These are just my not-very-well-thought-out thoughts, so feel free to pick 'em apart.

A) Restore the old level restrictions.

B) Eliminate the exp loss when PKed.

C) Restore the old level restrictions and eliminate the exp loss when PKed.

D) Significantly reduce the exp loss when PKed.

E) Significantly reduce the exp loss when PKed, and put the old level restrictions back.

F) Enable the "option to fight" thing. (I'm not sold on this one. It might completely throw off the risk-reward idea of the abyss. Of course, it would also ruin the days of the player hunters and cause me a warm glow of perverse happines.)

G) Have a "safe zone" at the gate of the abyss. (Not much of a solution on its own, but maybe in tandem with one of the other ideas?)

H) A combination of some of the above ideas.

I) Close the abyss and cause exciting new rounds of forum drama! ;)

This will NEVER work lol. Abyss was created for risking your exp yet you can get alot of exp from mobs. If they make players can't attack you it's failure. It'll drop down the exp alot

This suggestion has been givin many times, but it just wouldnt work. I wouldnt want to be bombarded with requests when i walk into the abyss anywayz.

I'd rather be bombarded with requests than attacks.
Maybe eliminate PVP everywhere but the PVP maps and add a PVP server.

mkay but i prefer attacks. Not saying i like spawn killing but it hasnt happened to me yet. Nor do i get killed often (last time was weeks ago --> RUN).

If they would apply such changes the threat lvl of the abyss will go down and so will the xp and drops, you can be sure of that...and i dont want that. Neither do i want to have to challenge someone who is killing all the mobs in an area i was grinding, i just want to attack.

Wouldn't stuff like this be used outside of the abyss? because the whole point was to pvp anyway so by trying to duel someone who is grinding which is about the entire % of the abyss then wouldn't it always be no destroying the purpose?
