View Full Version : Is this considered harassment?

It didn't really happen to me but another player. Below is a screenshot of the conversation:

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e389/balbanes_asy/harassment.jpg

As you can see, the player had already asked the PKer to stop attacking him. Prior to that, the PKer had actually ask the player why he couldn't kill him. And here's the funny part, while I was exiting (is that one or two t(s)?) the Abyss he quickly partied with me. I assume that this was to prevent his own death as my character is a Fighter.

I'm fine with the whole PvP idea and I'm fine with people trying to kill me - if I said yes.

I simply don't understand why there are such idiotic people in this world of ours. I had a run in with a PKer myself two levels before. This player had came up to me and asked for a fight. I turned his offer down and went back to grinding. 4-5 Phinoes later, he came back and decide to take me on with an unfair advantage: 4 Phinoes were on me and him. I had a hunch he was at a level higher than me. I tried to take him on but foreseeing that I was going to lose no matter what, I fled. I told him off and instead he resorted to calling me "retarded" for getting so much aggro. I emerged alive after that with the help of some mage camping at the entrance (I assumed she was a PKKer).

It didn't help though, I was killed later on by a Fighter somewhat accidentally (I was not sure of the situation).

I don't see the joy of killing or trying to kill someone with an unfair advantage.

I don't think I'll ever be stepping foot in the 2x Abyss anymore.

I cant see the screen shot because im at work with security blabla block pictures bla, but ill try to answer anyway. Exiting is indeed with one t.

Just kiddin,
You are allowed to be attacked at any time by anyone. Asking someone to stop doesnt mean that person has to stop attacking you. He/she kan even kill you several times without breaking the rules. I think spawn killing is harrasment but apart from that, anything goes in the abyss.
However someone usually starts cursing when you run or kill him/her and at that point you can report because of language. So you can get rid of these people, but not for killing you ^_^

And yes the 2x abyss is a friggin war zone...

Yes, I understand the whole aspect of PvP but clearly that player didn't want to get killed and only wanted to do some training. But killing a person when the person did not aggravate the other is harassment IMO.

That guy had just entered the Abyss too. All of sudden he was killed. I was not sure of how many times he was killed before my arrival. Eventually I had to ask the player to leave to not get killed.

I rather see someone asking another politely whether they wish to fight and if they don't, they should just drop the idea of fighting in the first place. I never liked people who think using unfair advantages is perfectly fine.

Oh now i agree with you on most points, i just stated that reporting this person for harrasment wont work. I dont necceserily think you have to ask, pvp zone = pvp zone. But i do think killing people over and over is wrong. I mostly just run away. It doesnt often happend that someone is willing to chace you all around the abyss.

Maybe a timer would help...hmm...like you have to wait 10 minutes before attacking the same person again.

Perhaps the Solution may not be to take PvP out of the abyss, but to return the level limits to how they used to be 20~29, 30~39 etc. I've noticed that most of these conflicts start with Players who are at the level limit going into abyss and killing lower leveled players, I consider this a horrid abuse of power on the part of the higher leveled player and frankly one of the dumbest things outspark has done. It borders on Outspark givinbg PK-ers a reason to abuse lowr leveled players at their leisure, under the excuse that they want to get on the leadership board for kill points. I find this cowardly to th extreme and I think that outspark should act before it becomes worse than it already is.

PVP is not a convenience for you. You either accept it and take it or you don't and never go to such places. You can't wander into a PVP zone and get upset because YOU weren't wanting to fight and people killed you anyways.

It's PVP, you accept and assume the risks of such areas by frequenting and staying in such areas. If you don't like it, you can leave and don't go to such areas.

"Oh but but but, all the extra experience and loot drops", you say. That's the risk vs rewards system put forth in those areas. You want the extras? You have to be ready to defend yourself from others to get them.

Kind of like life, but on a more annoying scale.

If you want to hunt and not be attacked, there are dozens of other areas to go to for such.

not harassment it turns into harassment when you do not allow the person to leave the place if he or she wishes too asking someone to stop is just like FBZ a noob asking you to stop and you still don't its not harrasment its PvP you choose to go in there and you adhere to all the rules presented in there you are expected to deal wit the consequences of death if you cant then you are 'FREE' to leave there are no if ands or buts either you gang and move on or you get out

Applying the ToS in the abyss is a tricky issue...most people play the 'Its pvp, suck it up' card...as you've obviously seen in here. Others will tell you its not fair, you're right, and outspark is evil. Again, as you kind of see in here.

However, while Jahniss is correct in stating that you assume such risks when entering with the intention of gaining such extras...its become an issue lately where those extras are unobtainable unless you're the strongest person in the farthest room.

So is it harassment? At this point in the conversation no, its not. I'm sorry.

Can anything be done about it? Short of staying out of the abyss, and away from jerks...no. I'm sorry.

What most of these players that spawn kill lack is a sense of respect and common courtesy for their fellow player. If someone asks you to stop...stop. Its common courtesy. It doesn't mean they'll wander the abyss unchallenged...there's other people.

It disappoints me that so many players use the internets sense of anonymity to behave in a way contrary to how they were raised, and how they act in real life. I know that if someone came up to me and spoke like a number of players have spoken to me in game...there would be consequences on their part. In game...and because of the anonymity factor...people feel its okay to behave however they wish.

Personally, I brush off insults as best as I can, and leave the area. If they bug me, I ss it. If they continue to bug, I continue to ss, then I report. If they don't want to start over, they should learn some manners.

Sorry, I went off on a tangent/rant. Either way, no, I'm sorry that is not considered harassment under the ToS, but its not fair to that player either.

If you're going to be sarcastic, at least attempt to make sense. Coherent insults sting so much more than incoherent ones. As a troll in training you should learn this

@Sacred-you know my brain shuts off at like 11pm, its going on 2am. I'm in rambling mode >:D

let's try to not add personal attacks to people on forums k?

As for the harassment part, if it's something you can deal with yourself then try to handle it in a private manner.
If this guy didn't stop to the point where it is interrupting your game play in a big way (including verbal harassment) then go ahead and submit a ticket on http://outspark.custhelp.com/app/ask with a few screenshots and a detailed description of what happened. The more information you give support, the easier they will be able to process your ticket.

That seems like a real problem you have. On one hand, we have the issue of the rather antagonistic aggressors in the player-versus-player environment, and on the other, we have the undeniable truth that the abyss, if stripped of its player-versus-player status altogether, would become a mockery of its former self. I, for one, never seem to be bothered by player-killers much, primarily because I learn to avoid them. He who learns to run away lives to fight another day. If you are alert enough to see them before they see you, they can be avoided. I personally believe that Outspark made a great improvement to the Abyss by removing the annoying level requirements. I enjoy the excitement of constantly being on the lookout for player-killers (the other kind of monster). Well, that is my philosophy on this matter. By the way, that is not harassment, even if you kindly asked the other person to cease and desist. Of course, it would certainly be harrassment if the other person attacked you regardless of the fact that you asked him/her to let you leave the player-versus player area (but only if you do so). I am never bothered much by that, either, because I happen to have very nimble fingers and can swiftly escape from the player-versus-player area before I am hurt too much. Alternatively, I could simply sneak past the player-killers; after all, those heavily enhanced weapons and shields that player-killers often use can be easily seen from a long distance away. Something definately needs to be done, though.

You said it perfectly. I hate it when ppl kill me just cause theyre a higher lvl than me. I have a lvl 21 mage atm and i repeatedly got killed by a lvl 3x fighter with a +9 axe and a lvl 3x mage. It was so aggrivating and unfair, because you cant make it anywhere without getting killed, and then you loose all your equiped scrolls and buffs. Only reason i go to abyss is for exp, and i end up going out with less exp because of all the high lvl PKers. I hate them all.

You must not be a mage >.> I get followed across the abyss almost all the time cause they know that a low lvl mage is squishy and cant do much damage.
