Divorcing from a deleted character

My friend and me wants to marry. She just divorced from her ex who was banned/deleted/ whatsoever....
Will the divorce work or need to ask GM for this?

I'm having the same issue. My friend and I are not being able to divorce from our ex-spouses and it's really getting to the point of quitting Fiesta. Luckily, my friend and I both of boyfriends who are willing to wait.
