Quick Question About Empower

I was wondering if say I had Aimed Shot(1) and I empowered it with say decrease cool-down. When I go to buy Aimed Shot(2) does that empower transfer to the next lvl, Aimed Shot (2)?

Sorry if that makes no sense... I really tried to find a good way to word the problem =/
