o_o I heard it was hard and scary. I'm lvl 19, and I'm actually trembling in fear. Any tips for me? T_T;;

It ain't hard and scary if you make the necessary preparations like
1) bring lots of pots, HP and SP
2) max both stones you can bring
3) scrolls (M. Def, Def, Vit, Aim)
4) scrolls (M. Def, Def, Vit, Aim)
5) scrolls (M. Def, Def, Vit, Aim)

Kite Kite Kite!!!

First, buff up with every scroll you can get your hands on. Anything less than 6 scrolls is too few.

Second, go in with full stones and a minimum of 50 T1 HP and SP pots. (T2's would be much better, but honestly they're overkill @ lvl 20 - typically. Now that I think that through, in this quest T2's would be ideal, but reality states that a lvl 20 will most likely NOT have the funding to make this reality.).

Fourth, before you enter the shadow arena, ensure you have up to date armor and staff. Going in there with unenhanced or low level EQ (I realize we don't get some things until after 20) is just like going in without buffs. Doable but foolish.

Third, after the initial fight against your clone, TAKE YOUR TIME. Try to draw the various kebings one at a time. Also when facing the skeletons, attack the warriors first (swordsmen).

Once you get to the room with the first blue dot, go straight forward to the wall opposite of the door you entered through. When you hit the wall, go to the right corner. Swordsman is there. Kill him. Once that's done, go the other direction (where you initially turned right, go left). Archer is there. Break her down shotgun style. After this, heal and follow the 'line' to it's end.

As soon as you hit the last blue dot, veer off to the right and you'll see a stone golem (after the lights come back up). kill it, then lock on to your clone and start spamming/button mashing. Pay VERY CLOSE attention to your MP/SP. Stones and Pots are your friend here. Once the clone hits 50% another stone golem comes stumbling out. Kill it then focus on your clone again. At 25% you get one more golem, kill it, then whoop the holy crap out of your clone.

If you do it right, you'll see "Success!" in blue cartoony letters and you'll also see "<your name>" has earned the title WizMage!"

Granted, all of this information can be seen on the wiki (I think it talks about that archer/swordsan there). If you don't kill the archer and swordsman when you first enter they will show up around the time you meet up with that first golem. Those 2 + stone golems + your clone = quick painful death.

It is difficult to get used to the tempo of this fight in comparison to the others you've seen thus far, but in no way is it impossible. I did it using this method with my mage in 2 tries (didn't scroll up the first time, got my clone to the last 50% and realized that there were more stone golems - my bad). I pulled it off first time around with my warrior.

I wish you luck. Let us know if we helped.

Rustic, you don't need to spend that sh!tload of $$ just for all that pots. 5 sp stones are enough, along with a little over 20 sp pots. Max the hp stones and 20-30 hp pots will do just fine. Use 1 hp scroll to get ur hp from 300+ to 500+ and you're safe! Follow rustic's guide but i think the skeletons can be killed in any order, along with the marlone clan fighter and archer.

Who said he was buying them , he makes em...

First time I ever did it way back, I died 4 times. Then I read the guide. Have never died except for a couple times it lagged soon as I got in, therefore, I died due to the lag.

Another tip...after killing first golem. Wait a little bit another one will appear, kill it too. After you get your clone to around halfway health, one more golem comes at you, kill it first....then go back to killing yourself....

Whenever people ask me, I go:

1)Max SP/HP Stones, bring additional potions incase if your hp falls low again while stone is still under cooldown.
2)You need Vitality T1, Defense T1, Aim T1 scrolls. Magic Defense if you want but I don't find the need of it.
3)Maximize your damage by using level 1 spells, according to this combo assuming # as hotkey [1] being spell level while assuming you've got 5 points of cooldown into magic missle:
3 Magic Missle[1]
4 Fire Bolt[1]
3 Magic Missle[1]
5 Ice Bolt[1]
3 Magic Missle[1]
6 Lightning Bolt[1]
3 Magic Missle[1]
4 Fire Bolt[1]
3 Magic Missle[1]
3 Magic Missle[1]
3 Magic Missle[1]
5 Ice Bolt[1]
3 Magic Missle[1]
6 Lightning Bolt[1]
3 Magic Missle[1]
4 Fire Bolt[1]
3 Magic Missle[1]
blah blah blah, you see the pattern? 100% Non-stop casting.

Tip: Once you enter to dark room, don't follow the blue light first. Continue moving forward, then tilt your screen left and right untill you find a Shadow Marlone Fighter and Archer, Slay them both, making your final showdown easier. After you're done slaying them both move on. Follow the bluelight untill you reach the end. After the lights reappear, stay where you are untill a stone golem spawns. Kill it, head back and kill the clone. If you follow the spell combo up there properly, you'll beable to get the clone to at least 400+ HP before the 2nd stone golem comes about.

After you kill first stone golem, stay there, one more will appear. Then go attack your clone. If you can wing it the GM said to take your gear off (I placed all gear but jewelry in my hotkey) when your clone spawns, he will not have gear on. Put in on as fast as you can, heal then rain the pain.

Edit: Of course, the GM that mentioned this tactic runs around in a thong...

i diedbly at least 6 times on that one

what i did when i won:
take staff off, scroll up, full hp + sp
go to sd
put staff on, spell attac like nuts, heal wen hp gets arou 100-150, mauybe 200-250
kill, kill, kill....
end: the fighter, archer, golems, and clone:
i vote golem frst, i killedit before it got to me in like 3 hits
then fighter/archer
you can only attack clone after fighter/arc her anyway, so now that
kill golems as they pop out
bring about 20 pots/stones for both hp and sp

voila......wiz mage power!

My full int mage can't seem to do this quest.. she either dies in the first room from the clone 1-hitting her or she dies in the skel room from every single skel ganging on her at once. My cleric didn't have the one-hit issue or the skel gang-up issue (hell my cleric never had to use a single scroll, stone, or pot.. but then again she was full end cleric).. this is really bugging me since no one else I've talked to seems to have been getting these two issues with that on their chars.

can you do this after lvl 20? im just too weak to do it =/

I'll make my response short and sweet. Although I may be young as a mage, I failed the job change twice. But that's because I didn't know what the heck I was doing.

It's going to be real easy. All you have to do is...
-Get at least 20 HP and SP potions.
-Restone
-Get a buff from a cleric. (If you don't know how to get one, stand right next to Guard Captain Shuitain and ask polity for a buff. Clerics love to give buffs to polite players that ask nicely and show gratitude for one.)
-Scrolls help, but they are not necessary for completing it.

These are the materials that are ideal for this situation. It gives you a 100% chance of winning. But you also need to focus on the right monsters.

Kill the golem first. Then the Marlone fighter, then the archer, then your shadow clone. If another golem comes, immediately refocus on it. That's the easiest battle plan.

Well, I guess my reply wasn't so short. O_O oops. =)
Hope this helps.

PS: You are NOT too weak! Mages are extremely powerful! Go forth, and casteth spells upon your foe!
